I have read many reviews about New Balance not being wide enough on Zappos and the last 2 pair I ordered I returned because of this reason. I have ordered and worn New Balance for many years because I have Taylor's Bunions but the last 2 I ordered were not considered wide to me. I also wear Brooks and they seem a little better.
I'd also recommend:
Brooks, which come in an extra wide also

Well suited for tennis with very good support. Fit is always a concern between different models. In this shoe the length is good but concerned that it is a little too wide and I'm conscious of it while playing. Trying to get a snugger fit.

The 2E shoe runs a little wide compared to other 2E NB tennis shoe I've worn . Played 3 sets and they preformed well. Lateral support is not as stiff as I would like but is acceptable. Overall the shoe preforms well.

I wear a 9.5, 6E sneakers from New Balance and I have for 4 decades since I was able to buy NB custom sneakers.
For reasons I don't understand NB stopped making 6E width tennis sneakers about 10 years ago.
The 4E width are the widest I can buy now. The fit is fairly good, but I miss those 6E width tennis shoes. Please bring them back!!

I play Pickleball 4-5 days a week. My doctor advised I needed a wide court type shoe for support. Due to the current supply chain problems, "wide" shoes were in short supply. I looked for weeks trying to find a 4E Court/Pickleball shoe with the proper cushioning. I found that shoe in the New Balance 1006 4E. Absolutely wonderful on my feet. I can play 3-4 hours a day without my feet hurting. The NB 1006 provides me with a wide toe box, a well-fitting heel cup and lateral movement support. I did have to purchase an extra cushion sock to wear with the 1006, but that was my personal preference. As purchased, the NB 1006 has good cushioning and arch support. I have recommended the shoe to my Pickleball community.

I play about 12 hours a week on outdoor courts and I got almost 6 months before the tread went too smooth to play on. Comfortable shoe and the upper showed no signs of age. First pair ordered were not wide enough. Return was easy and the second pair was a winner. I would consider this shoe again and would have bought them if they were in stock.

The 1006 men's tennis shoe is cut too narrow. I sent back one pair, reordered wide; still too narrow. Looking for extra wide, no longer available. No sale!! The return policy is good though.

Really great shoe for me. I need a wide shoe and finding one that really fits well can be difficult. Support is very good and the sole design stands up well even in the high wear areas. The only reason I gave it 4 Stars is I have to change the insert to protect against plantar fasciitis. It's still worth the money!

Finally found a court shoe for Pickleball that gives width through the toe box. The shoe has stability too but could use more comfort in the heel where I also need it due to an old ankle injury.

I have bought multiple pairs of 990/993's but they have become so ridiculously expensive - and harder to get in my size over the last year - that I decided to try 1006 as it is supposedly designed for racquet sport but is much less expensive. First thing to say is that the width fitting is not the same as 990: it's narrower. Nor does it have the same amount of sole support. It's not a bad shoe and maybe I'll get another pair in a wider fit. One issue though is that no one locally stocks this shoe, not even the New Balance outlets, so you have to order on-line without having the chance to try before buying.

I use this shoe for outdoor pickleball (singles). It fits well, grips the court well, is reasonably light, and provides good lateral support. I greatly appreciate the shoe being available in a half size greater than 12 (the 12.5 fits me perfectly), and in a wide. Hopefully this shoe will become available again in black, which is my preference.

NB has a strange website. Unlike other brands, when NB discontinues a shoe, you can't determine what a good replacement would be. The 1006 is okay, but the shoe tapers more towards the front of the shoe that other NB D-width shoes. So it's a tad tight in the toes. Doesn't seem like much, but let's wait until I play some 3 set matches and how bad the blisters are. I'm keeping them, but with reservations. Otherwise the shoes are good - light, good stability.

The NB 1006 is very comfortable on and off of the tennis court. I'll probably purchace this model again.

Good shoe but still a bit narrow at 2W. I've noted that there is no sizing consistency amongst different NB models.

1006 fits tight. It lacks the stability of the 1540, which fits much better. The 1540's new tread marks up the clay courts. This is the reason I tried the 1006.

Very comfortable from the first time wearing the shoe. Feels a little stiff, but should loosen up over time. Overall a good shoe for my Pickleball!

I buy NB because of my slighter wider than normal feet. It seems to me that the shoes are getting more narrow which means I either but the wider version or start looking at other brands.

I have a couple of days in these shoes and they are working out well. Good support on a concrete surface and good traction as well. I play in two-hour sessions with no foot issues.

This is the second pair of 1006. First pair I bought at a running accessories store because of how well they fit. Ordered the second pair on line. The fit is nearly identical to the first pair, but the laces are shorter, making them a challenge to tie (reason for four vs five stars). The coverage of the sole works well for court sports like tennis and pickleball. I also use them as comfortable walking shoes. Would not suggest them as running shoes.

Comfortable shoe for pickleball as I play 3 to 5 times a week outdoors. Sole became a little warn down faster than I like. I will purchase again. Also it makes for a good shoe in the gym.

Well, I never put the shoes on because my first impression was..."these are huge!" I was really searching for the NB 786 court shoe which I couldn't find. The 1006 looked similar so I thought I'd give it try.

I use these shoes exclusively for playing tennis on hard courts. They are a little stiff but extremely supportive. I wear the outer soles out quickly. I purchased them for the 6 mth warranty. Time will tell to see how durable the outer soles are. I've been wearing them for a month.

I was really hoping these would fit better. The toe was more pointed and the width in the toe area was cramped. I need a wider toe box.
