The shoes fits perfect. I have the 2E and No need for any break in period unlike the 996s and even the 1296 which were too narrow for a 2E. I'e had the 1005 before and still never failed to amazed me how comfortable these shoes are.

Great tennis shoe for me. I need the wider width that this shoe has.

I have a wide foot and generally I will destroy a pair of tennis shoes in one year after playing 2-3 hours of tennis 3-times a week. I busted out of some NB 623s as they would tore out at the side seems after 4-mos. I asked NB if they had a shoe w/o the side seems and canvas construction that would wear better on hard court play with lots of stops and lateral movements. They set me onto the 4E width 1006 which I wear with "smart feet" orthotics recommended to me by a great foot doctor in Baltimore. The fit is wonderful! Not sure if its the shoe or the orthotic insert that is helping, but my feet felt wonderful after 2-hours court time. I purchased the black/silver shoe which is really quite attractive compared to the standard whites I usually get. I'll see how these wear during the year, but with the comfort I am getting so far, these may be a keeper.

I bought these to play Pickleball. I consider them to be a game changer. I did have to use the very top lacing eyelets after stepping out of one once when I was playing the first time with them. After I re-laced the top I had the best day I can remember highlighted by five straight Aces in a row in one game. I hope they last longer than my 806's they are replacing. It is great to be able to find 4X wide in athletic shoes. Thank You

i have been searching a good fit for wide foot, tried nike, adidas but I was never satisfied with those. then I tried NB 1006 4E...it is really great. i also liked 996v2 but no 4e width available. 1006 is more comfortable ,having more cushion

The New Balance MC1006v1 are some of the most comfortable shoes I have bought before. New Balance are the only brand of shoes that fit my feet and I have never been disappointed. However, these shoes do run a tad big. Even for my feet (size 15) the shoes are still a smidgen big, even for me. All in all though, a very comfortable all around shoe that can be used for anything.
I'd also recommend:
None. Been wearing NB for years.

I wore this fantastic tennis shoe right out of the box and onto the court without having to break them in. Love the comfort and most of all the toe room. Great grip on hard courts. Have worn 6 times so far. Am playing 4 or 5 days per week. Anticipate good results.

I needed a new pair of tennis sneakers and after comparing the info online, I chose the 1006. I have used several times now and am very pleased with the quality of the tennis sneaker. They feel light on my feet so I can move well on the court. They also are very supportive which helps to reduce risk of injury and minimize soreness of the feet. As an added bonus they look good too! If they can last me at least 6 months at the rate I am using them then they are well worth the cost and will buy again when they wear out.

Light, comfortable, fast. I was suffering from pain in my feet, my back and my heap. I can fit my special insoles perfectly and pain is gone. Much better then the 806 model. You are going to feel much faster in the court.

Good looking shoe but it didn’t fit. I have been wearing a size 10 forever but these size 10 are about an inch too long. I had to send them back.

The 1006 has just as much cushioning as the Fresh Foam X Lav 2 except the insole is denser and not as soft. I remove the insoles to insert my orthotics so I didn't benefit from the fresh foam insole. The 806 is a bit heavier and more durable though I wore one out in 3 months playing almost every day. The 796V3 is not durable and though very light, isn't supportive or stable enough for my needs. For tennis or pickleball I'd recommend the 806 or 1006 especially if you have a 2E or 4E width foot.

Excellent wide shoe. I hope you keep making it in a 7.5 size. There are not too many extra wide shoes out there.

Tough to find good tennis shoes for wide feet. New Balance always comes through. I've been wearing the 806 model for years and thought I'd try these 1006 shoes... these are great but I prefer the 806s... they both fit great but yhe 806s gave a bit more spring in 'em.

I bought these for racquetball because they were the only shoe advertised in my size and width that were for indoor courts. They run smaller than advertised but aren't too uncomfortable. I keep shoes stretchers in them to keep the width bearable. The toe box is narrow which I believe made them feel smaller than advertised. The shoes provide descent traction on the court but not as good as gum sole shoes. There is little to no arch support, and they have almost no cushioning. Again, they were the only non-marking shoes I could find in my size and width that are supposedly made for indoor racquetball courts. I like the overall style, except for the plastic look.
