I have a tough time finding shoes to fit my size 12 women's feet. It is especially tough to find something special. We are heading up Alaska and I needed something rugged for lots of hiking. These shoes are comfortable and feel a lot like sneakers. They do make my feet hot, but it is summer and I am wearing socks and boots! I am very pleased with my purchase!

I ordered a half size larger than my normal based on reviews. I have narrow feet and high arches so I changed out the insole for my custom orthotics and they fit perfect. Very comfortable but not very aggressive sole for hiking more of a flat trail boot.

I bought these for a summer hiking excursion and wanted something lightweight with ankle support. New Balance never fails me. These are great right out of the box. I wore them today for the first time and walked 1.4 miles uphill to work and they were comfortable. A little warm but it is summer and my feet would prefer sandals.

These shoes are very comfortable and have excellent padding under the foot and arch. However I couldn't get past the looks: the top of the foot is just wide, kind of cheap looking, and basically unattractive. The grey color was OK at best--it's a nice enough gray and I liked the blue highlights, but just not grabbing me. They went back (thank you Zappos!).

The foot bed was comfortable and amply padded, but I returned them because they allowed my feet to roll inward (toward the arch). I can't say they had no arch support, but they didn't have enough to prevent pronation. I ordered wide, because I have a bunion on my left foot, but I haven't had this problem with other wide shoes. I might have been able to prevent this by adding an insert, but the pronation was so noticeable, I decided not to try.

Returning these. Love they style but were very narrow. I used to buy only New Balance sneakers because they offer size 5 in EE width, but have found those are running narrower too. I had bought a pair of Drew hiking boots in size 5 EE and found them to be almost too wide for me.I hike 3-5 miles every day and like to rotate my hiking boots and really wanted another pair of water proof ones. I'll have to try another brand.

I was hoping these would work for my morning winter walks. I have a wide foot and typically buy a D width. I bought these in my normal size but got the EE width so I would have room for winter socks. These were tight on me and short! My toes hit the end. I double checked the size and they matched what I ordered. I am not familiar with New Balance sizing but it seems they run small. Also, the sole felt really stiff. My search continues!

This is literally the ONLY hiking shoe I have been able to find in a 9 2e. I don't think it's that cute, but it's fine for what it is (a shoe that will get muddy while hiking) and would be ok if it fit. I have worn New Balance and Brooks gym shoes in the past, and I know that I am a 9 2e in these brands. This is definitely not a true 2e width. They felt very narrow and small. I tried on these shoes and sat on the sofa to see how they felt after awhile, and my feet started to go numb. I can't really comment on the arch support because they were squishing my feet so much that my arches weren't resting normally on the footbed.

I was very excited about these shoes but they were way too narrow, even with getting the WW size and my toe was right at the top of the shoe, although I always take an 8.5 or 9, and I had ordered a 9WW. So, I had to return them.

Way too small. I used to wear only New Balance, but every pair I try lately is too small.

I normally wear a New Balance 9WW. This boot ran narrower than my running shoes in this size in a New Balance. I'm not able to wear it. I had no problem with Zappos, as always they are an excellent company.

I don't know if New Balance has changed their sizing over the years but I ordered a 9 2E and a 9.5 2E and they run very short. I am never a 10 but will order them probably to see if they fit with winter socks, without my toes being cramped at the front. very disappointed. They are also a little hard on the soles.

This new style of NB's hiking boot does not reflect the previous 1569 style's width size -- I have a wide, square foot and the 2E definitely did not feel wide (especially for a 2E width!). My feet actually felt 'pinched' while trying them on and so will be returning them. No way are they wide enough.
Not sure what the reason would have been behind making the 1400 a narrower fit, but unfortunately I have to find another shoe company that offers sizes for wider feet. The style of the boot is OK -- for me, though, what's most important is how the boot fits rather than how it looks.

These are not the same EE width of New Balance tennis shoes. Not any wider than Keene hiking boots. If need an extra wide footbed, these shoes are not for you. Length is true to size.

I put orthotics in this shoe. I find it very supportive. I bit tight around the ankle but I think that part is getting worked in. It is exactly what I was looking for...a supportive shoe to go hiking in, that is warm and waterproof.

This was my first time ordering shoes on line and I had trepidations. The hiking boots were a bit too wide. I have narrow feet. When I took the boots back to the store there was no problem returning them and my refund was put onto my credit card within a few days c.

I think that they will be fine but maybe I should have gotten a half size larger.

It is so important to have a range of widths and these New Balance boots provided exactly the size I need. They provide great support for walking in winter and are easy to keep clean. They are good quality and very nice looking ankle boots.

I have very wide feet and have been looking for hiking boots for a long time. I finally ordered some on line, fully expecting to send them back. However they fit really well and I have used them regularly with no issues. I can't wait to use them in the Pennines when we travel there to see family

Now I am still breaking in the boots. I wear them at the weekend. They are very stiff and heavy, but the size and width are perfect, just need more time to get used to them.

These are the only truly narrow hiking boot available anywhere. I got tired of trying boot after boot that "runs narrow" and never finding a really good fit. These in 2a really fit the bill. Plus they're good for overpronators, which really checks all my boxes. Only complaint is I wish they came in a grey or black or something cool-tone.

I stand up to 12 hours for my job and walk my huskies 3-5 miles a day. These are the only boots that stand up to that! Bring them back!!

Oh no, these are the only shoes I have found for several years that help my foot and the back issues. I need the roll bar and motion control. Please bring these back?

I have worn three pair of model 1400 hiking boots. They were mens sizes but they fit straight out of the box. But NB has discontinued these and my feet have not changed. DEEP toe box 4 E.
