First, know that I LOVE Taos shoes - have 2 pairs of sneakers, and 3 pairs of sandals. So I was excited to try the boots. I wear a size 9 so I ordered the 40s and found my toes hitting the top of the boot, and didn't find the comfort I was used to. So I ordered a 41 - way too big. I was very disappointed, until I wandered into a shoe store which carried the boots, and the saleperson had the same problem. She recommended switching out the insole in the sneakers (which I was wearing) with the insole in the boot. Tried it there in the 40 - and all of a sudden the boots were perfect! So I'm sharing this because if there's anyone else out there who can't figure out why the boots aren't working for them, this may be the fix you need! And so love the Bordeaux color!

Holy macaroni, all of the positive reviews are correct! These are amazing, high quality, beautiful boots that are both comfortable and stylish. The laces are fashionable but the side zipper makes them super easy and functional. I live in a colder climate and definitely think that these will hold up to the winter with the thicker sole and lining!

These are the second pair of Crave Taos boots I've purchased from Zappos. They are extremely comfortable and give excellent support. I wear sandals all summer, but can't wait for cooler weather so I can get back into my boots! I'm retired, wear jeans a lot, and the boots are perfect for my lifestyle. I highly recommend them!

Update!! I was SO in love with these boots when I first bought them. They weren't the perfect fit for my feet but they were close. They do not come waterproof but I planned to treat them with something. The style is fabulous. Then i did a little more reading and noticed some reviewers said these boots do not hold up well and start to look scuffed and shabby pretty quickly (some reviewers posted photos). I decided to try on a few more styles and brands before i made up my mind. After trying on countless pairs of boots thanks to Zappos incredible return policy, I decided to return these and go with a pair of Timberland Jayne watrproof boots in burgundy. The Timberlands seem like they will hold up better, are already waterproofed, are just as comfy as the Taos (once i use an orthotic), have a better price point and are still pretty stylish! The taos boots are still great, don't get me wrong, the Timberland's just had more of what I was looking for.

The first pair to arrive had an irregularity to the coloring on the toe of one of the boots. I called Zappos, and easily was able to send the boots back and had another pair arrive in two days. This second pair looked. great. I wore them all day at work as a teacher. These are definitely comfortable. I did not have the urge to kick them off once home, as I tend to do with my shoes. I am a die hard Dansko wearer, but decided to branch out a bit, and I'm glad I did. These boots have a pretty "flat" feel, even though they have a small heel. The leather is very soft and felt broken in right away.

I'd like these better if the laces were blue instead of brown to match the boot.

SUCH A LOVELY BLACK BOOT. IF THE RIGHT ONE HAD FIT LIKE THE LEFT ONE, I WOULD HAVE KEPT THEM. THE RIGHT BOOT DID NOT SEEM TO BE THE SAME WIDTH ACROSS THE TOES AS DID THE LEFT ONE. THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM I NORMALLY HAVE SO I'LL JUST TAKE THAT OUT OF THE POSSIBILITY THAT IT IS MY FOOT. GREAT STYLE AND LEATHER! I AM STILL LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT PAIR FOR ME!!

This is a great looking boot! And, it is quite comfortable as I wore them all day on a tour excursion. However, I ordered the "grey" color, and they are definitely not grey. They are a nice brown color, which I like so I am going to keep them!

Really cute and comfy boot! I stand on my feet at work behind the chair in a salon for long hours several days a week. Comfort and support are two things that are really important to me when it comes to purchasing shoes for work. These boots are great! I wear a size 6 to 6.5 and ordered size 37.

After reading several reviews, I opted to order size 40M. I wear an 8.5 normally. The boots feel a tad too big for me, but they are extremely comfortable. I am planning on wearing them while traveling in Europe, nice sole, they are very easy to take off because of the zip, so I will probably wear them while flying for less weight/bulk in my luggage. They look nice with jeans, and long skirts. The color, Blue Ink, is very nice.

Great color and style but ended up returning the teal for the bordeaux because it's more versatile. I initially thought these ran small but after trying on both a 38 and a 39 i decided the 38 is a better fit (I am usually a 7.5). Wish there was a little more room in the toe box but otherwise love these!

Wow, these are beautiful boots! I have been searching for the perfect pair of boots for longer than I'd care to admit and have purchased and returned many other styles/brands (thank you, Zappos!) Finally found Taos and I am in love with them. As others said you can tell as soon as you take them out of the box that they are higher quality. Some of the other boots I tried on in the $100-$200 range felt flimsy or cheap (especially Sorel's). I have a hard time finding any shoe or boot that fits because I have a slender foot but require a lot of room at the toe box due to previous foot surgeries. While these boots did fit me well I have to say they are a touch on the narrow side for my feet and my toes are a little scrunched but I am hoping they will give some once they are broken in. I am normally a 7.5-8 but bought these in 39 due to others saying they run a little small. I am glad I sized up because I can wear them comfortably with thick socks and I don't think my foot would have been comfortable in a 38. The bordeaux color is a gorgeous dark brown with deep red undertones. My only two complaints would be the toe box size and that they are not waterproof but overall these are fabulous.

The brown laces are a drawback -- should match the shoe.

This is my second pair in a different color (Bordeaux) and these are my favorite boots ever. They are so comfortable I wore them almost exclusively last winter. Both pairs have been comfortable from the onset. The style is great - they look good with skirts as well as pants tucked or untucked. Just check out all the reviews, everyone loves them. I usually wear a size 7 (sometimes a 7 1/2), and the 38 is perfect. Only issue I might have is that some of the colors have been unavailable. May be a good thing or I might own several more pairs.

These boots are absolutely gorgeous;however, theyare too heavy for me to walk around in so I must return them.

How many pair of Taos Crave boots is too many? I wear them with dresses, leggings, jeans. I wear them walking in the airport, to business meetings, out with friends...they look great, they feel great. I am buying my 4th pair RIGHT NOW.

So between the time i clicked 'purchase' and the time these arrived - I broke a toe. (Thanks Zappos for your great service! You allowed me to fine a shoe which I could wear and dance in for daughter's wedding. But, I digress....). The past several weeks I have been wearing these almost everyday, all day. LOVE THEM. I was looking for a comfortable, stylish and versatile piece of footwear. I needed something for travel. Something which wouldn't scream "American Tourist' from the minute I stepped off an airplane. But most importantly I needed something which I could walk in - over cobble stones, damp grass, city sidewalks and more. While I haven't yet taken them onto cobblestones, I know they will be great. These things are comfortable. They have great arch support (I use arch wedge and there is plenty of room for the additional support). They are adjustable via the laces but the side zipper means you only have to adjust every so often. I've worn them with jeans and leggings. They are on the heavy side but it still works so well. I plan to take these on an upcoming adventure thru Europe. I can wear them to walk all day and they with a bit of a spit shine - can wear them to dinner. Will surely order more.

I was looking at all of the lace-up boots with a "military boot" type of style but still cute and more feminine. I had almost given up when Lo! the Taos Crave appeared just right with the right amount of heel (not too high or low) and oh my, in red and other fun colors. I wanted red but it was out of stock so I decided to get the teal until red was back in stock to determine the sizing, fit and comfort. Turns out I really liked the teal color, the fit, the style, and comfort and then the red came back and I ordered it with intentions of returning the teal. But, I loved them both so much I talked myself into keeping them both. A bit pricey but nothing else I have found can hold a candle to these to these fun, pretty and very cool boots. The leather is supple, the colors great (the teal is a bit darker than the picture but still wonderful); I love the buckle, and they have a side zipper which is very convenient. I wear an 8.5 so ordered a 39 euro. As above, they fit very well. I love them.

These boots are perfect in every way! No regrets here!

I love these boots. I love the color (teal, great with jeans or even dressy!), love the fit, love that they are “edgey” (is that a good word?). I would even wear these to work with longish trousers. I’m a health professional, and, yes, wiuld wear them to work. So comfortable!!

Beautiful Boots. Great service. I bought a 40 in a shop but had to return them. I sized up to 41 from Zappos. I live overseas so tried them on...seemed OK. I discarded all the packaging and off I went. Boots are tight and I actually think I needed a 42. The toes are tight but heel slips. I have blisters! I am determined to break them in. Not comfy out of the box like my Rockport Bethany...but the look and color (ink blue) are really nice. If they break in I will order another color in 42 next time I come stateside. Wish they came in 1/2 sizes. I love all the nice colors and two choices in black. Thanks Zappos.
