The bag is very versatile. I really like the metal hook closure instead of plastic snaps, and the design of the sling is great. The smallest size is ideal for exactly the things I want to carry, namely a pair of dress shoes (in wet or snowy weather), a tablet and charger/accessories. It seems rugged, but time will tell. The design feature that lets it fold open clamshell-style, hinged at the top, is not something I use and so unfortunately it means a couple of layers of superfluous material adding some bulk, but it's not excessive.
I was disappointed by the color ("Pike") which online looked like a dark steel gray with taupe trim, but what I got is virtually black, with gray trim that if anything has a hint of olive, not brown. Seems like a pretty clear photography failure, because I was able to easily reproduce the false color by taking a picture with auto white balance. They don't seem to offer that color anymore though, so I suppose it's a moot point for future buyers.

After using other massenger bags for years, I've looked for something more elegant, and yet easy to deal with and to bike along with. This is by far the best massenger bag I've owned !

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
Got this bag for my husband. It's big and the quality looks good. The texture of the bag is also nice, kind of like a wool suit. It also comes with a chest strap to keep it secure against you if need to move quickly or ride a bike. Zappos also gets a big thank you on this order as well. The first bag arrived with a broken clasp and they replaced it in no time! Thanks Zappos!

The photo of the carbon molasses bag is completely misleading. Unless I'm losing my eyesight be picture looks to be a light purple with cream piping. In person it's like an olive with green piping. Definitely looks like a men's bag in person. Don't make my mistake!

It is unfortunate that the bag does not stand upright on its own. It's design forces it to slant forward so that it falls onto the front of the bag when you try to stand it up. Nice bag, poor design.

I have a wide range of items and document that I travel with and the bag has a place for everything i use for work. Computer, ipad, 1/2 set of drawings (folded) with specs, legal documents and my all important morning coffee travel mug.

I'm a law student, and this bag was perfect for what I needed -- a bag to store heavy textbooks, folders, and notebooks, as well as a place for my laptop. It's the perfect amount of space, and I love the setup with the secondary compartment for the laptop. The only annoyance was the hook system instead of the clips I was used to from my old Timbuk2 bag -- once you get the hang of them it's not bad, but it took me a little while to figure out how to quickly open and close the bag with the hooks.

Great for day and airplane travel. The strap's color, however, is to dark and not standout as in pictures

Easily the best bag I've ever used. It's incredibly comfortable and I couldn't be happier. Perfect for bike commuting.

I use this bag every day. I commute to work by bus, and I really needed a bag that looked good at the office, was durable enough to withstand a daily commute, and was comfortable to use. There are SO MANY compartments. There are a lot of great, tucked away places so you can stash things conveniently and hide things away if that's a concern. When I first received the bag, I wasn't sure about the latching system, but now that I'm used to it, I find it's really secure and really easy to use. The bag is waterproof, which makes it great in case it starts raining out. The fabric has some reflectivity to it, which is nice if you're out in the dark (especially in the winter, when it's always dark). The bag *has* velcro to close the main flap, but they don't force you to use it. The velcro comes covered with a strip, which I really like because I do not enjoy having to rip open velcro every time I want to get into the main compartment. That's a really thoughtful design feature.
This bag is so great that it's now my everyday bag. The strap is prefect to wear cross-body, which makes it much more comfortable and convenient for commuting. No more tugging straps up on my shoulders while I'm walking.
I'm a huge fan. All my bags from now are will be from Timbuk2. I'm absolutely thrilled with this one.

Use this while commuting to school everyday. Carry my laptop, notebook, headphones, drink, portable charger, and leisure reading material. At times it can feel heavy but still have plenty of room left if needed.

I own a Control laptop briefcase-style messenger (two handles, top-entry, TSA) that served me well for about 7 years. Decided it was time for a change, but in the interim T2 has made the inexplicable decision to move away from that design and now offers only flapover-style laptop bags at this price point. I tried the Hudson briefcase but it has virtually no room for anything besides your laptop and a few papers, and costs $300 to boot. So I hemmed and hawed for a while, not wanting to move away from the T2 brand since I have always been happy with the build quality over several different purchases. Finally took the plunge on this bag and after a few weeks of using it as my daily driver and on a few business trips I have to say I am very disappointed. I've tried both the S and M sizes and this bag feels huge, bulky, and inconvenient when carrying no matter whether it's full or not. It feels exactly like carrying a piece of thick plywood with a sack stitched to the front. Well-made, and I really like the color scheme (Midway), but functionally it's inferior to my old bag in almost every way. If you already like the messenger-style flapover design then perhaps this is for you. Please, T2, not everyone wants to choose between looking like a bicycle courier or having to pay twice as much for an over-styled briefcase-type bag that holds half as much.

They have thought of everything with this bag. It is so well designed. I took it on a business trip right after I got it and it was a perfect carry-on. I unzipped the middle zipper, flipped it open and didn't have to take my laptop out for TSA. There are pockets for everything. I put my tablet in the front zipper compartment without having to open the bag. That is so convenient. It is the perfect size (large) and it looks great on top of all of this. I will never buy another bag that is not Timbuk2.

Love the quality, lightweight, and plenty of room for cords, misc. items. The padded separate sleeve is ideal..

I use this bag for daily business with commuting and air travel. I love all the compartments with easy access to cables and chargers. Also, the quality of the fabrics used are fantastic. Lastly, I love how the laptop section of the bag is insulated and super easy to access while even wearing the bag.

I was a big fan of BumBakPak's. Couldn't find a replacement for one that was close to it. I like even better than my old BumBakPak bag. Has great features that my other one didn't.

I love this bag - I needed a new laptop bag that I could gram a few things in to get me through the weekend. This bag is almost perfect - (if I had 1 wish it would be Timbuk2 make this in another bigger size). The compartments are perfect for storing stuff - I am not very good at being organized with my stuff but this design REALLY helps. The bag is super well made and super well designed. The color is much better than in the picture - it's darker.
I only just got it but I am SUPER happy. So far I think it's the best bag I've ever.
Thanks Timbuk2

I use this messenger bag every day for my walk/ride (depending on the weather) commute to the office (university). I was able to get it on a great sale between Black Friday and Christmas and don't regret it a bit. I have a medium and the bag is just about the right size. It can fit my 13" laptop, notebooks, lunch, and a sweater without too much hassle and it remains comfortable to wear. I travel a fair bit for fieldwork and is serves me well. Tons of pockets for headphones, sunglasses, laptop chargers, etc. It's stylish enough to be worn day-to-day and also take to conferences or lectures. Great product overall. Can't speak to the quality yet, as I've only had it for 3 months.

Plenty of room for everything yet does not feel bulky when packed. If I had to be picky...I wish it had a business card pocket and a large see thru mesh pocket. Great product either way.

I use this product as a teacher to move from classroom to classroom during my day. The only thing that I dont love is that the fabric rubs my dress pants and causes the fabric to ball up on my pants.

Best messenger bag I have ever owned! My third one, only because I gave the first one to a friend and the second was stolen. Highly recommended for office/school/commuting/travel. Stylish yet practical beyond belief. Great bag!

Gift to my husband to replace his 10+ year-old Timbuk2 with a slightly smaller more contemporary looking bag he could use for the office. He's super happy with it.
Very well-made and practical.
