I use this for commuting by bike as well as a handy carry-on. I suppose some people might want a roomier bag but not me -- gets too heavy and bulky.

I travel a lot for my job, and the command messenger makes airport security checks a breeze.

To begin, the inside compartment REALLY NEEDS a sleeve to hold an small umbrella. This is essential for commuters who occasionally encounter rain and need to store an umbrella within their bag at all times. Lastly... when wearing the bag across my body, I felt the shoulder strap cushion would continually slip off my shoulder. Timbuk2 should consider adding some texture to the cushion so the bag won't slip as much.

I love everything about this bag except for the lack of a secure and easy key area, a key fob clip would be great.

At first, I was a bit worried the large Command Messenger Bag would be a bit too large. Length and height are a bit beyond what I have had in past bags. But, typically carrying two computers, lunch and various work accessories, this bag is just about right. I really like the side pocket where I store a large backup battery and all of the compartments seem well thought out. The strap is comfortable even when loaded and all the nice details are there like silences for the velcro and a strap to slide over a carry-on handle. The one downside is that it is the least flexible bag I have used. Not a deal breaker for day to day use. But, the bag is narrow and trying to put much of anything inside quickly causes the bag to bulge. This normally does not bother me. But, with this bag, the bag will not close unless pretty much completely flat without any bulging or items on the taller side. Seems like this could be easily improved by extending the available closure loops one or two loops further up into the velcro toward the top of the bag. Still, this has become my new day to day bag.

I love the look of the bag and how much stuff I am able to fit inside of it, the medium size. It can hold a laptop, kindle, cell phones, water bottle, and my suit jacket (neatly folded). If I had to purchase this over again, I probably would choose the small. The medium is a little too wide and is constantly getting in the way when I am commuting on a train or bus. Additionally, I have started to notice that as the bag rubs against my clothes, it is causing damage that I have never had with other bags. I have been getting small tears and pilling that occurs on my dress pants, causing more upkeep of my suits than I would prefer. I may try to switch to another type of bag in the near future.

I wanted a bag that would be good for airplane travel. I use this for travel and cycling to work. The adjustable and comfortable strap allows for various functions. I especially like the pass through luggage strap to fit on top of my suitcase. I wanted something fashionable and functional, which is difficult to find in a women's bag. This is more functional but is still cute!

Unfortunately, not an improvement over the last Command laptop bag I owned. I have to completely disassemble my power cord for it to fit in the tiny outer pocket (the previous bag had a roomy pocket on the bottom), and I bought the "compact" version of my cord. I *really* miss the handle that was on the end of my old bag, the best way to carry through airports when you have to put it down and pick it back up alot without bending all the way to the floor each time (usually leaning it against my leg, but sometimes again a wall or chair). I usually have an extra large messenger bag with my clothes in it on my back, so nowhere to put a laptop bag. More one-handed carrying options are needed. Also this bag is objectively smaller than the previous Large Command that I had. I couldn't move everything over. And not once ever has TSA allowed me to leave my laptop in the bag using this fold-out system that this bag has. It's kind of a waste of materials and bulk. On the plus side, this bag is far more attractive than my previous one. They moved away from the sporty look and the materials are great. Very classy and they seem tough. I expect this to last a long time.

My second Timbuk2 bag and like the first one the build quality and functionality are excellent. These guys know bags, and know how to build them. I have a travel mug, it's a cylindrical, meaning no handle. The drink pocket doesn't fit my mug very well; I can't push it to the bottom of the pocket, but if my mug was narrower it'd fit properly.

I really love this command messenger! I've been looking for another bag with the handle pass through. I also own the commute messenger with handle pass through. I use these when traveling with my rolling suitcase. It sits well on the suitcase using the pass through and looks great! This one is a little smaller than the commute bag (what I was looking for) looks great, travels well, is nice and sturdy so it can stand on its own on a table or other. It has some nice compartments, napoleon pockets in the front and fits my 15" macbook pro in the back zipper without a problem. I can fill this with a lot of stuff, all the extras that I don't want to carry in my purse and need access to quicker than if I store them in my luggage. I bought the color "pike" which looked a little more purplish in the online images but is actually pretty dark. Still love the bag!

I have been using a bulky Tumi T-Tech laptop bag for a while as my laptop bag/carry on and I wanted to downsize a bit. I picked a medium one of these bags up and loved it when I got it, but once I started loading it up, I wished it would expand outward just a little more. Not roomy enough for my needs. Throw a headset case and other accessories in there and it's jammed. I then bought the large model, but it was too big. It looked like a garment bag. I wish this bag had just another inch or two of expansion. I do love the small zippered pouches. I love it and I'm sticking with it, but did have to lighten the load a bit and move some things to my carry-on clothes bag that goes in the overhead.

Love the bag. It holds all items I carry each day with room to spare. My only complaint is that the "pike" color option isn't well represented on the site. When my bag arrived it is actually black, not "pike".

I got this bag to replace a cloth messanger one that had begun to fall apart. I've only been using it for a month but I can already tell that this one is going to last me a lot longer. The quality of the material is fantastic and I'm amazed by how many pockets this thing has.

Firstly, I'm a Timbuk2 customer from way back. I have one of their (long discontinued) original-design XL Messenger Bags that has served me well for well more than a decade, and is still going strong. However, the originals didn't have a laptop pocket, and I decided to modernize. The Command Messenger in medium has completely exceeded my expectations. Here are the high points: * Great strap, shoulder cushion and adjusting buckle makes bag adjustable for walking, cycle commuting or conference room * Cushioned, lined Napoleon pockets are an exceptional idea....they never get old! * Superb cushioned, soft-lined laptop compartment is perfect for my MacBook Air * TSA-friendly zip-separator for laptop, plus the rolling luggage strap, makes business travel a snap * Brilliant arrangement of internal space makes the medium as capable as the old extra large

Knowing how many liters of volume would fit my motorcycle full helmet and my CE 2 armoured leather jacket I looked carefully at all of the timbuk2 bags on the website. I ordered the Command large because it has 26 liters, enough to carry the jacket which was my ultimate need. (Oh, and it was on sale 40% off) The bag will carry my helmet but not at the same time as my jacket. Ok I knew that I would not get a two-for, but; here's a big But: it would be great if Timbuk2 made a bag for Moto bikers big enough and configured well enough to pack up a full helmet, leather jacket, rain gear, and hey how bout it, knee pads!! I know this is a tall order but maybe we could just cover the helmet and leather jacket? Try it, be the go to Moto bag and you'll find a huge new market from specialized websites aimed at sport bikers, cycle gear, Revzilla, etc. These guys will actually help you design the bag. Back to the command: the bag fits my leather jacket, and yikes I keep finding pockets! Here a pocket, there a pocket, everywhere pockets. It will take me some time to figure out which pockets to use for gloves, glasses, cellphone, tools, etc. That's a good problem, so far well done Timbuk2! Now, take my advice and get with a bunch of sport cyclers, the guys with the Ducatis, the Dukes, the BMW S1000RRs and you will nail this category. Let me know when you get the bag right so I can buy one. Or better yet I'll be happy to help with the design.

This, and the other Timbuk2 bags have been great and I have convinced multiple friends to buy them. I had an original messenger bag (still do) and it was super roomy but didn't have enough pockets for daily office use and heavy airline travel. I bought this bag and its wonderful. SO many pockets and secret compartments, it keeps me organized with all my cables, dongles, passport, chargers, laptop, tablet, pens, notebooks, etc. In China, where you have to remove anything with a battery in airport , that means i have to search through all the pockets and empty everything. But here in the US, its perfect for TSA PreCheck. I do wish that the main compartment had just a little more room to stuff raingear, etc and it has a very annoying inability to stand upright on its own...it always wants to fall forward. Overall I'm happy with the bag and will look for another Timbuk2 when its time to replace this one.

I needed a briefcase for my new job. It had to go well with a suit and tie, but I wanted a modern, functional bag as well. The medium is the perfect size to hold a Macbook Pro 15", iPad, cellphone, loose papers, etc. I like the little details like the pocket on the flap for your cellphone and the fact that it appears at least to be water repellent. I've been using it for about 3 weeks. So far, so good!

I decided to purchase a messenger bag because as a graduate student completing my internships and soon to be beginning my career, I wanted something more professional than a backpack. I use it for my laptop, a storage clipboard, notebooks, folders, and textbooks. It's roomy and has tons of organizational pockets where I can keep my chargers, wallet, keys, pens, snacks, etc. I've been loving it so far. My only minor complaint is that it's less comfortable than a backpack simply due to being on one shoulder instead of having the weight equally distributed on both shoulders. Other than that I LOVE it!

Great for everyday commute haul. Miss the roomy back-facing compartment older models had but it's not the end of the world. The buckle hooks are a bit of a pain but I suspect they'll loosen up with wear. Overall, solid bag.

If this bag had the same heavy duty should strap and cross strap as my classic messenger, then this bag would be the ultimate hybrid between style and function for the active professional.

Really nice organization pockets, at first it was a bit confusing but after getting used to it, it was the best. Used it for over a year of bike commuting aprox 15 miles roundtrip, survived a crash with just a minor scratch. Excellent for airplane travelling, great for holding your passport, tickets, books, chargers, a light jacket and your wallet
