Wanted to get a bag for my 12" macbook... But this ain't it. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely an awesome bag, for 13" macbook pro maybe. Features are cool and intuitive, and build quality is top notch. Materials used are excellent. I purchased mine (S) online without having seen any Timbuk2 product, so I didn't have any reference. I know there are dimensions stated in the description and the site has a handy fit guide, but it only says that it fits but not how much bigger it is for your device. Will still buy again, but will take note of measurements better next time.

I finally purchased my first Timbuk2 bag after about a year of waiting and researching. I was looking for a replacement for an aging computer backpack and decided to switch back to a messenger style bag. The style and roominess of the main compartment are definitely the best features of this bag, and the quality is second to none. Plus, I've heard great things about the T2 warranty and customer service, so I'm hoping that this bag will last me for a long time. I am disappointed in the lack of compartments, and the heavy nylon/material that they use for the bag makes the compartments they have very rigid. Also, the device fit tool on the site is definitely very generous in it's "will it fit" conclusion for my 15.6" HP Laptop. It said it would fit in a medium bag, and while it does indeed "fit" it doesn't go in and out very easily because it's a very tight fit. This gives me concerns about the protection, as well as long term qualities of the bag.

So this is a great bag, but despite the sizing guide's assurance of ample space, my laptop (a 14" Thinkpad T61) BARELY fits in the small bag. When empty, the main compartment easily holds a 1000-page book. But once you fill in the small inner compartments, the main inner compartment gets pretty cramped. I recently took it on it's first trip, and I could barely fit a notebook and a book in the main compartment. I'm wishing I had ordered the medium-sized bag. Also, since it's designed to carry both a laptop and a tablet, a second spot to store the tablet's power supply would be handy. IF your laptop is larger than 13", get the medium-sized bag.

This bag is my fourth Timbuk2 bag and I just keep loving them more and more with each new itineration. This bag acts as the vehicle for all of the gear that I use daily and makes organizing, carrying, and accessing all of my essential equipment super easy. I work 8-5 in information technology and am also a student finishing my masters degree, so I needed a bag that could keep up with my crazy schedule and gear needs.
This bag did NOT disappoint! Thanks Timbuk2! :-)

The bag is built very well and has enough compartments to be organized but not too many pockets to loose track of where you put things. I use it for school and i walk a lot to classes and the bag is slightly uncomfortable at first but over time it got better. I got the bag in size small, but the size is enough to fit a 15 inch macbook pro. The bag is a little big if one is of smaller stature but it should fit perfectly for an average person.

Long-time timbuk2 owner and amazed how the products get better ever year. My last timbuk2 bag was branded with my company name and when I got a new job I wanted something stylish, compact and efficient for both my train commute and air travel. This bag fit the bill, everything's tight and has a space. I love the TSA fold-down compartment for getting through security and the strap is extremely comfortable. Would recommend this bag for anyone with a daily commute.

The clasp system is tight prior to frequent use but ensures security for the contents.

I bought this as a gift for my future son-in-law who just graduated with his Masters in teaching. He absolutely loves it!! He is a pretty big guy, 6'5", so I bought the large, and it looks like the perfect size. It's stylish as well as masculine. He will use it as a briefcase, and it will work perfectly for that purpose, plenty of room for books, papers, pens, lunch and computer. Plus extra room for extra stuff!

I'm delighted with the bag and the quality is very apparent once you get it in your hands!
I was looking for something a bit different and this has filled a gap in computer bags market in the UK, where you either get to choose from the drab and generally lower quality bags, or something that might be more stylish, but is generally expensive and where your are disproportionately paying for the "label".
It was a bit of a punt ordering the bag, but has proven worth while and I would both recommend the bag and I would order from Timbuk2 again.

Bought this bag on black friday after spending a lot of time looking at different models. Finally settled on this one and glad I did. This bag is more roomy that appears but even if you stuff it, the bag expands rather well to hold everything.

Beware that this messenger bag is not very wide but nice and slim for daily use for office or school.

I'm a web developer with fairly basic needs, but also likes to be prepared for travel and the occasional presentation where extra adapters and cords are always needed. It's very easy to get to the things you need in this bag especially laptop and other devices, which are just a zipper away (most other bags put the laptop compartment under the main flap). There seem to be plenty of compartments, but there's really only one place that makes sense to put cords, adapters, thumbdrives, etc., which is under the flap inside the main compartment in a zippered pouch. The pouch takes up the center portion of the inside, so when you've got lots of things you want secured behind a zipper, the pocket tends to bulk out and make it difficult to keep the bag's profile low. The pocket that holds the laptop is also limited in free space, so if you have a lot of paper work it's sometimes difficult to figure out where to put it (doesn't really fit safely in the main pocket of the bag because of the potentially bulging zippered pocket for odds & ends. When I put paper work in with the laptop, it feels as thought it's putting a lot of pressure on my devices.

We haven't yet used the messenger bag, but it looks like it will suit the purpose of getting my husband through airport security in a much speedier period than before. (I could just about read a book while I waited for him to get through behind me).
However, there was one HUGE negative issue. I had to pay over FORTY ONE DOLLARS in shipping costs at the door! I was mightily annoyed at that surprise cost -well beyond what had been budgeted for the gift. Customers should be informed of such costs beforehand - always.

Really like this bag. I have wanted it for a long time! But I wish I had gotten the medium... The size will motivate me to minimize! The organizational pockets have beaten moved from inside front to inside back - like the concept, but will have to get used to it. Love the bag. Would buy again, just one size larger!

Really useful details in this bag! Lots of small compartments, but most important: I can grab my laptop in one move where I needed to take it out of a sleeve in my previous bag. And still it is safe inside its compartment.

I use a medium sized bag everyday for work. I have about a 5 minute walk into work and this is the perfect size and weight for that commute. All of the little compartments fit everything I need, the main compartment holds my lunch box and a rolled up sweater, and if I need to go on a plane, the Velcro strap on the back is perfect for strapping to a rolling luggage bag. The strap mechanism is fairly easy to use and the padding on the strap is very comfortable. The laptop compartment is perfect for any computer up to the size of a 15" MacBook Pro. My only drawback to this is the water bottle pouch is on the smaller side. My 32oz Nalgene bottle fits but it's a tight squeeze to get it in there. I would recommend this bag for anyone, especially those who like easy access and portability. I don't travel on a plane often but this is perfect for me.

I am a school teacher, meaning I'm always carrying lots of pages, school supplies and such. This is my second Timbuk2 bag (the old one is still in great shape, I just needed a change) and I am so happy with it ! My new bag is spacious, comfy, lightweight (even with tons of stuff inside), very roomy. Each item has its own locations, This bag is full of surprises. I'll definitely continue using my Timbuk2 and continue getting them. Outstanding.
