Very cool looking bag, have got lots of compliments about it. Quite light, If it was more compartments it would be much better. Over all a good messenger bag, for school, work, on the go and also for travel! Highly recommend!

I bike to work and this bag is an improvement over my 6 yr old Timbuk2 which I also liked. Its compartments work better somehow and that leads to a thinner more sophisticated design. It looks much better at business meetings with clients. The TSA friendly rating means it might pass the xray inspection or it might not. In LAX it did not and I nearly missed my flight. I was looking for a business class messenger bag and this fits the bill perfectly.

I use this bag while commuting primarily, to take my gear to and from the office. It comfortably fits a laptop, phone, wallet, keys, water bottle(s), relevant chargers, and a tablet computer. As a bonus, it's stylish and looks great.

I commute from Colorado to California every week - Monday to Thursday - so it is really important to keep track of both sets of car keys, badges, phone, chargers, etc. All of the compartments are great...it makes it SO much easier to know where everything is - and I especially love the compartments that you can reach on the sides - perfect for holding my phone, ID without having to open up the flap or dig through one of the bigger pockets! The quality seems great, so far (I've had it about one month) and I certainly use it to it's capacity! Thanks Timbuk2!

Bought this bag as a Christmas gift for my husband, and he LOVES it. He's used it now for about 2 months, and is very impressed with the durability and organization it provides. He is a professional who likes to look nice but not fancy, and almost always carries his computer along with at least one book. We have been very satisfied with Timbuk2 products and will certainly purchase from them again in the future.

For some reason, they omitted the key keeper red ribbon with clip on this model. Coming home from a week on the road/in the sky and being able to go to the key keeper is comforting and satisfying. This omission is a major mistake in my opinion. The Commute TSA-Friendly Messenger has similar features AND the key keeper. The metal closure clips look great, but I haven't used the bag enough to feel confident in their security and I still feel clumsy manipulating them.

I love the TSA aspect of the bag, it is sleek and well balanced. I also really appreciate that it can stand up on its own. Would buy it again.

The only thing I would even suggest changing would be to add a piece of velcro to the silencer straps so that they stay in place on their own, rather than them being stored in the pocket.

Great bag. Perfect size for smaller laptops. Have a Dell Latitude E7440 / 14 inch, and fits with plenty of room left over. Also has a nice pouch for full size iPad.

I bought this for my son-in-law who is a college professor and a young father. He has spilled his coffee on the bag and one of the kids spilled a Gatorade on it as well. He was amazed on how easy and well it cleaned up. The TSA friendly bag is a plus when he travels. He had been looking for just the right bag for several months and is very happy with it.

Got this bag to accommodate a 17" laptop. It definitely lives up to the timbuk2 reputation. The no Velcro stealth opening on the flap is genius. I like the latching mechanism. Having the Velcro available for travel is great. One complaint I have with the bag, no zipper on the inside flap pockets, can be placated by using the Velcro. And really its just a matter of adjusting to a different layout, because there are two great zipper access pockets: the secret flap compartment and a very generous Napoleon pocket. If this bag has one negative, it's the strap. It's hard to get it adjusted and the quick adjust cam buckle seems to be easily disengaged. I seem to go through spurts of unintentionally triggering it's release and wrestling with a strap that is sized for a giant. I'm f course, Murphy's law: this is most likely to happen at the worst possible time. Still there's not a lot of bags that can accommodate 17 inches, let alone doing to so comfortably. And A pro traveler could easily get several days in the main compartment. I can't wait for a weekend business trip to put this through the paces. It works great for my bus commute.

This is my third Timbuk2 TSA approved bag. They keep getting better, and I love this one. My only complaint is that setting the bag down it will ONLY fall forward no matter how it's packed.

I use this mostly for commuting (via train & walking, & back & forth to meetings with clients). All the compartments keep me organized so I can find what I need without rooting around, and it fits everything I need - a farily large laptop, Ipad, notebook, samples, drawings rolled up & stuck under the flap). With the cross-body strap I can carry a LOT of stuff without strain on my shoulders (I'm no youngster). The only thing I would change is to add a small pocket outside the flap to stash my transpass and my IPhone for easy yet secure access.

My old bag had about just enough room for my MacBook. It wasn't cutting it. As GM of a largish East Coast winery, I am constantly on the go: meeting clients, wholesalers, visiting our stores, etc. I needed a bag that could hold a slew of files, but also my computer stuff. I also needed something I could carry around in the city that wasn't too bulky. This bag is all that and then some. Plus is looks super good. You've got a customer for life Timbuk2!!

I use it for air travel. It looks really nice. Understated but classy. It's strong and sturdy and can withstand wear and tear. I love it because I can access immediate things that I may need (Cell phone, passport etc.) without having to open the whole bag, Plenty of room inside with a simple array of pockets and compartments (not too many and all useful). Sad there isn't a key fob..so I took it off my old Timbuktu and sewed it into this one see..I'm independent

I just started teaching and wanted a bag to carry my laptop and other books/notebooks/folders, that wasn't a bagpack, but I also wanted it to be stylish. This bag is perfect. It's durable. Has great room. Fits my iPad and my laptop very comfortable.

I really love all of the features on the bag. Initially, I thought the only drawback was that my cross body strap didn't like to stay locked at the heigh I placed it. Over time, however, I have discovered that my bag has totally abraded some of my clothing, to the point that I can't repair it. This isn't from long walks, as I wear a uniform once I'm at work. Instead, it was caused in the distance it take from me to walk to and from the parking lot at the start and close of each day (less than a 1/4 mile total). Honestly, even if I were walking with the bag at my hip all day, I wouldn't expect it to damage my clothing. Unfortunately, it will now be money wasted because I won't use the bag and risk having more clothes show up with giant patches of wear. Too bad, because I otherwise loved the features of the bag. (In case different fabrics wear differently, the one I purchased was made of Rip Lyte Polyester)

The bag is of good quality material and is comfortable, but has some unnecessary cons. For one, I haven't been able to figure out how to use those metal hooks to close the bag without wrestling with them for 30 seconds. I've resigned myself to leaving them unhooked and using the velcro to close. Secondly, the bag doesn't sit up very well (the front is rounded), so I have a hard time slipping my laptop into the back compartment without the bag falling flat. Third, the bag has decent storage, but given its size and weight, you're not getting a whole lot of room.

I am really enjoying this bag. Went with the Medium size and my 15.7" (diagonal) laptop is pretty tight in the TSA-approved pocket (I'll admit my work laptop is a bit of a hoss), but fits just fine in the main compartment. I got the Black/Red Devil bag and was surprised by how dark red (basically maroon) the front and shoulder straps are. I'm okay with the color now, but don't expect the straps to be a bright red.

Update. There is one additional problem I discovered. The cam buckle comes loose very easily and the bag falls to the entire strap length. I found that I had to keep readjusting the strap and securing the cam multiple times throughout the day. The cam on the classic messenger (at least the one I own) is much more secure. This may be a problem if it comes loose while riding.

I bought this specifically as a gift for my partner who travels a lot for his job. It was great to see TSA compliant compartments for his laptop that will save him time through security.
