Fantastic bag, lots of compartments, a place for everything.
Only downside, on screen the bag looked like it was chocolate/brown in colour. When it arrived it was actually pretty much black.

I've used a lot of bags in my 22 years of school, & I have to say this is by far the best one I've ever owned. I love the way it looks and the way it feels over my shoulder. The adjustable strap is a big plus, because as I commute on a bike, I want the bag to ride high, and then I as walk around a lot at work, taking my bag on and off periodically, it's nicer to have the shoulder strap a little bit longer. Adjusting is super easy! The only thing I might improve is to request that the chest strap be a little more sturdy and thick and have a better mechanism to fasten it to the top of the shoulder strap. Since I do a lot of biking on my commute, feeling a little more secure with the strap would make a difference for me. Great bag!

use with my macbook 12 inch retina, iPad... roomy enough to carry files and some books... really like the outside pockets and space for a water bottle on the the OUTSIDE of the bag instead of inside...

I love this bag. Only negative comments, and I knew these when I bought it, was that the front buckles take longer to open/close than the plastic snaps, but they look better and will probably last forever. I also wish there were a few more pockets, especially one on the front flap for easy access to keys etc. without opening it up. Also, would be great it if it was waterproof, but I knew it was not and that's not a huge deal for me, I'm not actually a bike messenger. The computer and phone / tablet compares are super soft inside and it's great for air travel.

Love the bag. Looks good, seems very durable. I use an MacBook Pro 15" and it fits in the computer sleeve very nicely. If I had a couple of complaints it would be that the Apple power supply doesn't fit into the power supply compartment if you attach the cord instead of the wall socket adapter. Also, the metal buckles used to hold the top flap in place close easily but can be troublesome to open.
Other than that, it's a dream.

I'm an avid photographer. This bag just fits all I need when going out on a shoot. It's very stylish (got a lot of compliments), sturdy and well-thought of. I know this will last me for a long time. I just hope you keep making bags like this one Timbuk2. Thank you so much

It's great for the office, you can take your computer out without disorganizing the rest of your stuff. I have a small bag, wished I would have bought the medium sized. The computer fits perfectly fin but a little bit more room in the center pocket would have been nice. My only con is that when the bag is lying on the floor it doesn't stand by itself, it falls on its face.

Bought the new one cause his old one was looking really sad. But once he transferred stuff to the new one, washed the old one and it came out looking great! Really great product.

I am pleased with the bag. I purchased the medium in the Carbon Full-Cycle Twill. The color and style of the bag are excellent. The initial fabric feel is quite stiff, but it softens up over time. I use the bag for commuting to and from work and I am happy that it has plenty of space for a tablet, laptop, papers and extras. The bag has a slim fit and is really comfortable. It could have a few more internal compartments like the classic messenger, which I was used to. The top handle and the felt lined pockets are a bonus. The biggest drawback to the bag is the loop / hook closures. They are awkward and it makes it difficult to un-hook when used. Thank goodness for the optional velcro closure, which I primarily use instead of the hooks. I only use the hooks when I don't have to access the inside of the bag frequently. During winter months is it virtually impossible to un-hook the bag with gloves on. Finally, my bag does not stand up on it's own. In the pictures it looks like it is supposed to. Maybe I am not carrying enough items to fill out the bottom, but it is a minor issue.
Otherwise it is a fantastic bag.

I use it at work and fly every week. Love the look and finish.
Two flaws. 1. The bag design is such that it will not stand up on its own. Ever. It falls forward. The bottom is cut in such a way that it's like a wedge. Emily or full. Doesn't matter.
2. The bottle pouch on the outside is in direct conflict with the 2 side pockets. So as long as you don't have a bottle or need access to said pockets, you are fine.
Medium fits my standard "brick" HP work laptop. Nice! Tea option rocks.
I'd say to fix it, but then I'd have to buy another one and I just bought it.

All Timbuk2 bags are great and of very good quality. Would buy their product ayntime... but!
This one is too big: I bought for my laptop. I selected the right computer model to choose the perfect bag.
But it is way too big. There is too much space and the bag is just simply too big for me. I even checked after if I had not made a mistake while buying it. Unfortunately, it was not the case.
Since I shipped it to my parents in the USA to wait until they were coming back, it was too late for a return...

I've been using my first Timbuk2 messenger for over 15 years, and while it's still going strong, I wanted to upgrade my colors and storage. This bag has a clean modern look (I love the grey with the red lining and zipper details) and plenty of storage.
Best features for me are the back access to my laptop, the handy front zippered compartments, and the velcro silencers. Only a couple drawbacks; the front clasps look great but were hard to open at first (they seem to be getting easier the more I use them) and I ordered the small and find it challenging to get the power adapter into its pocket.
Great bag, great company.

I purchased this for my husband for Christmas. He just took his first trip this week and loved sailing through TSA (well...no on really sails through security!). But flying with this bag made his travels easier. The bag is roomy and stylish and works great for regular travel.

Two things:
1) The colour shown on the website is deceptive (camera lighting). The bag was a much darker shade of grey than depicted on the website.
2) The international shipping charges when ordering via the Timbuk2 website do not include import duty. I ended up paying the an additional extra $50 at the door to receive my package! (import is calculated for item value PLUS shipping costs) Buying via another (well known) online retailer is cheaper both in overall shipping costs and import duty which is calculated and paid for at time of ordering...no nasty surprises at the door!

I wish I could write a more complete review, but I sent my bag back as the color wasn't even close. I bought "Trench," which looks tan in the product photos, but brown in person. The bag did seem of a good build quality, and I wish I'd gotten more of a chance to put it through its paces.

Have two bags now - different types.
Both bags do not stand well when placed on a counter or the floor and will fall over. These are great products and well made, but would be even better with some built in stability in base to be able to stand up better.

I bought this online so it's a little hard to know what you're getting. The bag is excellent quality, I was pleasantly surprised by the bright red interior, I couldn't tell on website the interior color. I like bright interiors since black interiors make in harder to find things in low light. The computer compartment is very nice and protects computer well. I ordered the small size, but I would like interior space and pockets to be little bigger. Overall excellent bag.

I bought this bag primarily because it claimed it was TSA friendly. On my last trip, I found out this wasn't always the case. I used the bag as-described and in San Francisco of all places (TIMBUK 2's home), I had my bag sent back to the beginning of the TSA conveyor belt so they could place the laptop in a bin. By being 'TSA Friendly', I thought I could have avoided this. Nope.
Also, after 1 gentle month of almost-daily use, 3 plane rides and riding in style on the passenger seat of my rental vehicle, I am already seeing some fraying along the laptop compartment zipper/seams.
That's not to say there's nothing good about this bag. It's comfortable, looks great, carries the items inside quite well and provides ample compartments for your on the bag I chose - grey with red interior. A word of warning: Be careful about placing small items in the mesh side pocket - they can fall out easily if the bag is on it's side.
Overall, I am somewhat-satisfied, but maybe the TSA didn't get the memo that my bag is them-friendly. I could also do without my bag showing signs of wear after only a month.

feels like it's made for laptops circa-2005; even medium feels way too big around a 13" macbook pro; and I think it would for a 15" as well. It's not just a question of LxW, but really height: seems like it could accommodate something that's 1.5" thick, whereas modern laptops are closer to 0.5".
