This jacket is bomber. Fits alot looser than most OR clothing, making it great to layer under

This jacket is bomber! Been wanting one for years, finally pulled the trigger at 70% off MSRP :) Baggy fit compared to most other OR clothing I've owned. Not necessarily a bad thing as most OR clothes don't fit me! But may interfere with the layering ability of this jacket

I think anyone that loves the outdoors during the cold winter months and carries a pack should own an Uber jacket. My friend told me that I had to re-think my layering system with this jacket. And wow, did I ever. I only wore one light Helly Hanson polypro base layer under this jacket on multiple long, hardcore summit days that lasted 8 - 11 hours. Even when we stopped for quick breaks I did not feel the need to layer up. But I found I could only wear it on -10 c and colder. It is not a jacket for warmer days. Totally love it.

Great jacket, used for a hike in New Hampshire during March. Very durable, lightweight, and extremely reliable to maintain optimal body temperature. This jacket does everything it says it can.

This jacket is great, it's light weight. I initially thought it wouldn't keep me warm enough, but it has delivered. Although, I'm not sure I would wear it if it was under 15. My only complaint is the two way zipper, I don't care for it.

I love this jacket! I use the belay zip all the time and love that this keeps me plenty warm at belay stations and in town. I am super bummed that this is no longer available, but so glad I got one while I could!

I bought this jacket for spring field work sampling rivers and have worn it non-stop for a year. It has protected me during extremely gusty conditions, keeping me warm. It's very breathable. I would say it was one of my best purchases ever. The only con is that there are small threads coming out of seems, but that's after a year of hard use and multiple washes. The purple color is amazing and I get compliments on it all the time.

This jacket is super versatile. Lightweight down puffy jackets seem to be the rage for insulation and mid layers, but this blows them away by offering comparable warmth with much better breathability.

Went BC skiing twice with it and performed well. Kept me warm on the descents, and it was nice not to have to worry about it getting too wet because of the synthetic filling. It packs down well enough, and was warm enough on mildly cold days. I like this piece and layers well with others.

By far the BEST light-weight "puffy"/heavy-weight mid-layer out there! I use mine on a daily basis from late Fall - early Spring as my go to jacket. Also excellent for breaks on the trail and "oh shoot" layer during warmer months in the mountains and hills of eastern NY. It's incredibly packable and breathable, yet warm with decent wind and water resistance. I can't say enough about this jacket. Get one today!

The Uberlayer Hooded Jacked, or "The Uber," is a wonderful piece of kit. I chose this jacket to be part of a system, and this item helps to limit the number of pieces required to meet most my needs in the wilderness. The UBER performs well at temperatures from freezing through the 40's (F) when paired with other items. At the lower end of this range, with a base layer, mid layer, and then The Uber, it works well if you're on the move; if the wind is blowing hard, put the hood up and synch it down. If you're standing or sitting and get cold, throw on the final piece of an outer shell and you're good to go. (That gets you to 4 pieces to pack away (on top). At the higher end of this range, The Uber is all that is needed aside from a t-shirt, just vent as needed when moving around.
This is a great casual piece. I wear this all year round, outside of Summer--not too hot, not too cold. The Uber packs away pretty well into it's stuff pocket, although it's not the most comfortable function of the piece; I just feel like I'm going to tear the zipper when I'm stuffing it into itself...
All in all, it is solid kit.

This is highly recommended for use as active wear in cold conditions. Note: This is movement wear and has limitations as static wear. This jacket is highly breathable and provides adequate insulation when generating internal heat. I used this climbing over Thorung La Pass (17,769') and it was perfect over a zip Tneck and baselayer when pre-dawn temps were low 20s. Throwing on a windbreaker during stops was all I needed. Also perfect for XC and BC skiing. It is stylish enough that it gets daily use as casual wear. A great complement to the outdoorsman's clothing quiver!

This jacket has quickly become a favorite for cool, fall/spring weather here in East Tennessee. It stays comfortable from mid 30s to mid 60s with a t-shirt and much cooler weather by simply adding a quality mid-layer. The jacket's breathability is outstanding. The fit is great, as it is not baggy or restricting. I purchased the large and my measureables are 6'1" at 187lbs, athletic build. If there was anything to dislike, and this is reaching, would be that the rim at the top of the interior pockets are noticeable against the skin when wearing a thin shirt and the jacket is zipped. This is not by any means a serious issue and wouldn't even be noticeable were it not for how unbelievably comfortable this jacket is overall.

I knew I loved this jacket as soon I received it but it has since surpassed all expectations. The breathability and protection from the elements is perfect for northern Minnesota winters on Lake Superior. If it's very cold and windy I simply layer underneath it. The real test came during a snowy 8 mile trek along the Canadian border. I was wearing a t-shirt baselayer, an ascendant jacket, and my uberlayer over top. The temperature was a cold 15 degrees f with 10-20mph winds as I kept a good pace trudging through snow up ridges and along rivers. I found myself far too hot, actually sweating, wearing both my ascendant jacket and my uberlayer so I shed the ascendant. As long as I was remaining active, the uberlayer kept me a perfect temperature during the entire hike. I can see this being a phenomenal 3-season jacket here in the upper-reaches of the midwest where the summers are short and hot and the winters are brisk.
I'm 5'8" and 150lbs. The medium fits nicely with plenty of room to layer beneath.

For those who do not know what "uber" means, here is a description. "
denoting an outstanding or supreme example of a particular kind of person or thing."
This is truely the uberlayer everyone needs. I have been wanting to put it to the test and I was lucky enough to have pretty much every weather possible. Here in Montreal, it has rained, snowed, been over 0C and under -5C. The uberlayer has managed to conquer all of the above. I have hiked with the Uberlayer with just a t-shirt underneath in -10 C weather with large gusts of wind and never have I felt I needed to put another piece of clothing to keep me warm.
For those who say this is not windproof, it is meant to be a breathable technical layer so it is possible that with very stong gusts of wind you will feel a light breeze but I have yet to find a flaw.
I am 6'0" and weight 180lbs (athletic build) and the large fits PERFECTLLY. I have enough room to wear a bulky hoody underneath without feeling restricted. The sleeve lenght arrives near my thumb ends which in my opinion is the perfect lenght for someone that moves around.

This is my Uber favorite jacket! I wear this thing nearly every day, work or play. It is warm like a puffy without the bulk. I love the features it has such as water resistance, stuff pockets, key loop, etc. Fantastic jacket and worth every penny. Fit is a little snug through the chest (I find this to be the case with OR's trim fit sizing), so if you do not like the restricted feeling through the chest, you may want to size up. I am between Small and Medium in OR clothing at 5' 7" 155lbs (38 chest) and went with a medium here.

So I wanted to wait and try this jacket in differant conditions before writting a review. In the past week here in Canada we've had some below zero, above zero, windy, snowy, rainy...name it we've pretty much had it all. This jacket has been amazing handling all the stuff i've been throwing at it. I've read many comments saying it wasn't windproof of waterproof. If you are expecting to use this as a rain jacket or a windbreaker you will probably be dissapointed. In mild to moderate winds and some light rain, I hand absolutly no problem.
I work alot outside and have yet to really test it in more extreme conditions but I am sure that with proper base layers this would be a geat all-around jacket.

Just used myr uberlayer on a 10 mile hike and 40 weather with heavy winds in the Santa Cruz mountains. Worked like a charm keeping me warm but so breathable. Had to pair it With a windbreaker near the top of the mountain with the heavy winds. It certainly is a jacket you can leave on all day it's a breathable and warm when you need it. Now it's my perfect hiking jacket in cold weather. Just have to remember your windbreaker since it doesn't cut the wind much at all. Very happy with it

This jacket was the best birthday gift I could have ever gotten myself! I got my Uberlayer this past week, and wore it to hike to the top of Sugarloaf peak at Alta on Friday. Holy amazing did it perform!!! Total wind blockage, and never once was I sweaty as I climbed 5,000 feet. Now I just want one in every color!

I just got this thing, but I'm already excited to get some wear out of it. So far, it is warm, comfortable, and stylish. It breathes well. I wore it once commuting around town via walking and biking and didn't feel too cold or too sweaty as the day warmed up from 37degF to 52degF. Can't comment yet on the water resistance or the durability, but this jacket seems comparable in warmth and weight to down, with a tougher shell. I'm stoked to take it on some climbs, skis, and backpacks!
Also, I'm 5'10" and 175lb. All of OR's Medium stuff fits me perfectly. This jacket looks as though it was made for me!

OR is my recent favorite adventure clothing company I North America. I purchased shirts ,pants and jacket and I noticed that fabric ,material ,designs are very high quality. I can't find a better company in Canada or US in this time. I minimized buying in Europe .
PS. I'm winter cyclist and cross country skiing enthusiast ,this jacket will be good for very cold days here in Canada

I have warn this in temperatures varying from just above freezing to the mid-60's and felt comfortable the entire time. The amount of insulation is perfect for cold weather while the heat dumping capability of the material is second to none. The fit is perfect as it stays close to your body and allows for a good fitting shell to protect you from the elements. This is one of the few mid-layers that has sleeves long enough for my arms. I am 6' 3" and around 210 lbs, and the large fits perfectly. My arm span is 6' 7" and the sleeve length is perfect as well. Highly recommended and one of the best fitting jackets that OR makes.
