I really want to love these shoes! They're sturdy, good for walking, good traction, and don't look too clunky. However, I have to return them because there is one spot where three pieces of leather are stitched together and it is thick and rubs right on the side of my foot. I tried to wear thick socks and break in the leather, but it's still so painful! I noticed a couple other reviewers having the same problem. The weird thing is that it was only on the left shoe. The right side was fine! I really wish I could keep them.

These are cute boots and I really wanted to like them. They felt a little long and the arch support hit in an uncomfortable place on my foot. And again with the fabric lace loops. I hope this is not a trend; they’re not good. They seem like they would tear if tugged on and it’s hard to pull the laces tight. Back they went.

Felt a bit heavy. Nice arch, but ankle was very stiff.

I loved this boot and wanted it to work, but like other reviewers said, I had problems with it rubbing on the outside of my 5th toe joint. I have long, narrow feet and usually shoes are too wide for me. I tried wearing these around the house and after taking them off my joint was bright red. Sadly they went back to Zappos.

I have problem feet - bunions, narrow heel, & a high arch. I bought these because I wanted something comfortable to wear with jeans. I normally wear a 7.5 in boots, but I thought these were huge. My toes barely made it to the lip at the top of the shoes. I reordered in a 7, but found they were uncomfortable for my bunion. My foot with the bunion is wider and the shoe rubbed on the right side where the laces started. I'm guessing this could be a problem for people with wider feet, too. The arch support was impressive, and I might have kept the larger size if I had been in desperate need for boots, but I opted to send them back because I think these shoes are borderline ugly.

Were very snug. Very disappointed because I'ver always like other Chaco brand shoes I have purchased.

the Chaco Barbary is a nice neutral gray. the suede is good quality and looks well made. however the shoe does run large. for boot, my usual size is 11. this size 11 feel a 1/2 to full size larger. i purchase the shoe for light snow or rain to keep my feet want without having to wear a clunky big boot. the shoe seems more like a step up from a sneaker, not a boot build for warmth. going back.

The seam that runs from the base of the laces down toward the bottom of the shoe pressed uncomfortably against the upper outside of my foot. I have experienced this with other shoes so it may be a quirk of my foot structure and not the shoe itself. The foot bed is really comfortable and the overall look is nice and casual. I would have kept them had the seam not been an issue.

I was looking for a warm, stylish boot. It hit the mark on style, but failed on warmth.

Wanted to love this boot. Super cute, warm and versatile but even with my orthotics, they bothered my feet and knees. There was an area that rubbed on the outside so back they went. Love Zappos. Makes trying to find the perfect boot/shoe easier with my issues.

These shoes were clunkier than I thought they would be. The toe box part of the shoe looked huge! I got my normal size, 10 1/2, and it fit well. It just looked so huge and unwieldy. Sorry, they are going back.

I really wanted these boots to work. Very cute, warm, light on my feet. But the seam on the top of the boot rubbed the top of both sides of my foot--right where you flex to walk. I've had boots before with this problem and it doesn't go away if you want to walk very far. I tried a size up but it didn't help. Sorry.

The footbed of this shoe is excellent with good arch support, but the sides where the seams of the cloth and leather come together were uncomfortable and rubbed against the sides of my foot (just below the pink toe). I wanted to love these shoes but this seemed to be an issue, particularly with the right footed boot, for the Mahoganny pair purchased. I walked throughout Europe where it was raining half the time, and they did keep my feet dry. The arch support was also unbeatable and were better than my Nike sneakers. As I went through the rest of the week, I had to wear thick socks to keep the seamed area from rubbing my feet raw. I also tried to keep the shoelaces looser. This seemed to help stretch out that area a bit to make it more comfortable. The sizing is actually a bit larger than what I expected. I'm normally a 9.5 and had to order down to size 9, and even then I felt like I might be able to go down another half size but figured I should keep some room for some thick socks in case it got cold. It has a unique look to it with the folded down sides, which I liked. I just wish they had been more comfortable at the seam in the beginning (maybe they run a little narrow in that area). I guess I just expected more for the price mark. I would still buy Chacos in the future, but just maybe try a different pair or style.

Color: Mahogany. Brown color has lots of bluish red in it--more like an oxblood color. Not what I was expecting.

Color: Ivy. Olive green with dark green laces. Unusual but stylish. Unfortunately, Barbary now seems to be made on a different last from previously--narrower and with more pointed toe. Not for me, sadly.

Boot was cute, but too narrow, and my foot is not wide. Sad to have to return.

Really wanted to keep these shoes but they were not wide enough for my foot. I normally order wide shoes but thought I would take a chance on these. They are so cute!! And the color is perfect to go with everything. Unfortunately they were not wide enough for my foot.

Sadly I returned these as I found them difficult to get on. Super cute but had to loosen all the laces then tighten them all up again. Have other Chaco sneakers and love them but as much as they look stylish they are inconvenient ??

I really wanted to like these boots. They are super cute and I love the color. The footbed was very comfortable. However, the base of the tongue area of the show as very uncomfortable, it felt like it was digging into my foot. I'm so sad to have to return these.

They were not wide enough to accommodate my bunions. I didn't like the "flat" feel of the boot. Just didn't seem very supportive.

These look really cute in the pictures, but not so much on my feet. They are really wide and boxy, which is not flattering to my slender foot. They were comfortable, but I was looking for something comfortable AND cute. The Castlerock color is actually more blue than it appears in the Zappos photos on my monitor. Not super blue, but definitely blue gray and not neutral gray like I'd hoped.

I was hoping to use these boots for slushy winter weather but had to return them because they were too long and narrow. They're well made and stylish (though I would probably replace the woven laces with something more water repellent, but they were longer and narrower than I've usually found to be the case for the same size in other brands like Brooks, Salomon, and New Balance with a more roomy toebox.

Unfortunately these boots/shoes were a bit large for my feet. I know they would have started rubbing my heel in an unpleasant way after wearing for a couple of hours. Also there was some glue or adhesive, whatever is used to attach one part to the other, visible on the sides. I just cannot justify spending this kind of money for sub par workmanship. If I decided to exchange them for a smaller size ,most likely, the adhesive wouldn't be an issue. I just happened to get the one that was stained. If they fit correctly and no staining I would have loved them. Love the look!

Super cute shoe. However they are very narrow.
