Several years ago I was involved in an accident that shattered both heels of my feet. As a result of the injury my options for foot wear became rather lmited because I could no longer tolerate poorly cushioned foot wear. The Tor Ultra was a god send for me because of its special design and cushioning technology. These special features allow me to comfortably work in a variety of challenging terrain without discomfort or foot fatigue.

Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Yes. I bought one pair and after wearing them a few days I bought another pair as a spare. They are light, well-constructed and really cool looking. If you have knee problems or walk or are on your feet a lot this is the boot for you. I highly recommend this footwear, so go ahead, splurge, and treat yourself and your feet to a walk in the clouds.

I have gone on several 5 day backpacking trips in the Sierra's, Uintas, and Grand Tetons. Hands down, these are the most comfortable, and durable boots that I have ever used. I never write reviews, but I felt obligated to all the hikers out there who have foot problems while hiking. Buy these boots! I still used a silk liner which I always recommend. After 11 mile days I had no foot pain which was a first for me. We just finished a 5 day trip backpacking the Teton Crest for 35 miles. I have been using Hoka's for trail running during the last year, and have loved them. I was excited but cautious when trying these out. They blew me away during this trip. These boots are truly waterproof and you don't feel the terrain pounding and poking at your feet. In regards to style, I think they are really cool looking!

The sole is fabulously grippy. It's the best thing about this boot. Unfortunately, the rest of the boot doesn't measure up. I don't much like Hoka's last: too wide at the heel and too narrow in the forefoot, with a tiny toebox and pointy toe. I'd recommend that Hoka's research scientists (surely they have some) spend some time studying actual feet. In this context, the lack of a lace lock at the heel strap is an unfortunate omission: you can't really adjust lace tension differently above and below the angle to mitigate the narrow forefoot wide heel problem. On the whole, the boot doesn't justify its premium price.

I love my futuristic space boots. My feet are sensitive and need the best product. It's been 6+ months and these boots still provide comfort and support all day I am going to buy another pair soon. :)

I have 5 pair of these and, 2 pair of their sneakers, and a severely screwed up left foot. These shoes offer great ankle support, and superb comfort. they are waterproof and fit exactly like they are supposed to. i have tried all kinds of name brand shoes since hurting myself (sheared a telephone pole, broke left femur), and nothing comes close to the quality, and sheer comfort of these shoes. If your feet hurt, from walking on hard floors etc. these shoes will help, tremendously. I do put custom insoles (20 dollar Dr. Scholl's) in every pair, and that will make them 50% more comfortable. These boots are so awesome, that I have 4 more pair coming in the mail, for a total of 9 pair. The reason for so many pair, so I can wear them for the rest of my life, that is how comfortable they are.

I have a question about this shoe....anyone know how this shoe compares to the clifton 2? and a comment about HOKA Clifton 2 not this shoe. I have had knee replacement and have bad feet, and a lot of stress in muscles due to it. Having this sole is a game changer for me. TOTAL comfort and they may be too much money, but they are a godsend to me. They take a lot of the stress out of my muscles and bones. Work great with orthodox because all the cushioning is in the sole...a win win. I saw one cut open and was impressed....once I tried on I was won over. My pediatrist recommended trying it, and I'm glad he did.

I am returning these. I think they look and feel nice but they really are just sneakers and I do not think that they merit such a high price tag. I got them hoping that I would think they were worth it, but I cannot do it. I will give them five stars for comfort look and feel but one star for price. I do not see how they came up with the price tag. For example, Keens are just as nice and comfortable with high end materials and much less expensive.

I think that these are a great boot. But, for me there is a lateral support structure on the opposite side of my arch. This is the same for me with Solomon shoes too. It is uncomfortable when you are walking for me. I wish that they were just ever so slightly wider through that area. I am sorry to have to be returning these boots. If not for that issue with me. They would have been the most comfortable boots ever. I know that Hoka doesn't read these reviews. But, it would be nice if they would give some consideration to this issue.

These were purchased for a person with a severely injured toe requiring orthopedic inserts in all of his shoes. He has been happy with the Hoka speaker so we tried these boots. He was very happy with the comfort and wore them hiking in Patagonia. Sadly, 7 months after buying them, the soles began to fall apart (the Vibram on the heel separated from the rest of the sole). But Zappos stood by the quality of their product and offered to exchange them or provide a refund. Zappos is an amazing company to work with and I will continue to buy all my shoes here!! Thank you!!

This boot is the best ! I want to let HOKA know that many people depend on this particular boot . I have hallux rigidus in both big toes and this boot is a life saver . It has a roomy toe box and a stiff sole . It also accepts my custom orthotics and has the best cushioning of any shoe . I have learned HOKA is not making them in all black anymore and some of us need an all black shoe for our jobs . This is really disheartening because this boot helps so many people that are on there feet all day . The company could do so well with this shoe if they would just listen their customers . I don't mind paying more for a shoe this good . The low top is not as good ,it does not have the same cushioning . I did buy the Kaha GTX but they do not have nearly as much cushioning as the Tor Ultra Hi so I probably will return them and try to find a comparable shoe . I really hope HOKA reads this review and actually hears my words .

I'm here to voice my concern and plea to bring these shoes back in all black. I had been recommending these shoes to my fellow first responders for months and they all said they had trouble finding them in all black. I thought they were just temporarily sold out, but its been months now to no avail! I don't think Hoka realizes how life changing these shoes are for people on their feet 12 + hours a day (especially police and fire personnel). I had the All black version and they completely saved my knees on shift, weathered well, and even accepted certain synthetic polishes. If you refuse to bring back the all black. Maybe consider making a new boot for first responders, or doing a limited run for first responders. Ive bought at least about 6 pairs of your shoes, I'm a huge fan, but its disappointing seeing you all miss the mark by not bringing these back in all black. If these came back in all black, id probably buy 3 to 4 pairs just to be safe cause its been a huge pain finally finding the perfect work shoe, only to have it taken away.

These measured up perfectly! I have serious foot and ankle issues and wear custom orthotics. They have a removable insert and there were no problems with the orthotics. I have to wear high tops and these are comfortable and the best part is no foot, ankle, or Achilles pain with these shoes! There was practically no break-in time needed. I highly recommend!

I got a pair of this in the spring of 2017. They are very cushy, great for hiking. Going downhill for long periods feels great on your heels, really great boot. One thing to note is aestehtically, they are not that durable. The toe will get grinded down to another layer of color easily. But after hiking in them intensely for a year and a half, I got trail runners for hiking in and use these boots of caving. Caving is in intense sport on one's gear, especially footwear. You need good traction on something that will last behind grinded and rubbed against constantly. These boots work amazing. They get dirty, but they don't clean up half bad. I probably have the best traction in the cave out of everyone else.

I average 10-18 miles/day & these shoes are super comfortable & totally waterproof, delivering for the USPS I don't always have an option of walking around huge puddles & these shoes hold up!! I'm thinking of ordering a 2nd pair. I recommend these shoes to anyone who walks for a living or just around the block!

These are by far my favorite Hi top boot for film work. Your shoes are great for working on stage and many locations. Your Boot is amazing for location work. I only wish we could still get them in all black, sometimes the bright colors as fun as they may be, are a distraction on the job.
