The 8 is much, much wider than the 6. It did not feel like a narrow. I did not try the 7, so I can't speak to any changes from 7 to 8. I am a 9 narrow, and ordered a 9A. The Ghost 6 was a bit wide in the toe box, but an overall great shoe for my flat, narrow, low volume feet. I ran over 400 miles in the 6 and they were great. The 8 is definitely not the same. It is much wider overall and slips right off of my heel no matter how tightly I tie the laces. They will not work for me so I will be returning them.
However, one improvement that I noticed was an increase in the size and padding of the top of the tongue. I have to tie my shoes very tightly because my feet are so incredibly narrow, and with the Ghost 6, the tongue would sometimes feel a bit thin and short and I would get some discomfort from the tightly tied laces. I think that would have been improved with the 8, had I been able to wear them.

I love the style of shoe, but unfortunately the tongue of the shoe was kind of large, and stitching in one shoe I could feel it rub against my foot. So sorry.. to say I need to return the shoe, and buy another pair of Brooks I know fist well. For me - I love the Brooks Glycerin 13. So much for trying a different style. Beautiful colors, but could not get past the tongue on the shoe.

Across the arch was really tight and I ordered a wide width so I am returning. They are nice looking shoes and the laces do have a bit of stretch to them. Very cushiony and toe box was a bit narrow as well. So great for people with narrow feet, I can't image how narrow the regular width is.

I have a true 7-1/2 size foot, low arches & minor bunions on both feet.
That said, I really wanted a supportive power-walking shoe that provided good support for my high-intensity workouts.
Without good arch & toe support, my ankles & big toes ache afterward.
I loved the look of these sneakers & after reading the reviews, I really wanted them to work for me. I tried wearing them with and without arch-support inserts, but no dice.
Without inserts, my ankles ached.
With inserts, my toes ached.
The toe box is TOO generous, at least for my feet & there isn't enough support (my toes were flopping around in there, even when I tightened the laces).
The Saucony Progrid is the only sneaker that has worked for me, but it looks like an orthopedic shoe. I was looking for something with more pizazz.
I'm still looking!

I wear a 9 narrow. These did not feel narrow - snugging up the laces made the toebox pucker. I read lots of reviews, looking for shoes with a great arch - this arch was mediocre. From the heel end, it starts feeling like okay, finally a nice arch. But once my foot was in it, it felt like the front half of the arch just dropped out of sight. I read some reviews indicating a raised area under the ball of the foot. It felt a little like a squished bubble, but it wasn't obnoxious. I think if the arch had been decent, I would've kept them and would've gotten used to the ball cushion. The colors - well, you take what you can get. I would never pair dark salmon with turquoise, myself.

These are very comfortable similar to Asics, however there is not much support in the toe. My feet start to go to sleep on the elliptical. I'm not sure if I will keep them but they look amazing.

I have a number of foot problems and pain in the right hip, and I was hoping this shoe would be comfortable given that my orthopedic doc recommended Brooks. The sizing was off--smaller and narrower than usual. The tongue of the shoe is VERY thick, and with my high instep I needed a wider shoe. I usually get a wide, but in this case I figured I needed a double wide to accommodate the high instep. I don't care for all the shiny decorations, but the shoe looks as depicted online.

I really hate these shoes for running. It's been nothing but shin splints, calf cramps, and top of foot pain since I switched to these from my well-loved Brooks Ravena 4s. I do have high arches and maybe that's something to do with it. Anyway, I like the looks of these and they work okay for other forms of exercise. I'm going to try the newest Ravenas and see if my legs feel better.

Wore these for the first time today and my feet started burning after 3 miles - very disappointing. I do have very high arches and and possible plantar fasciitis, but specifically did research with that information. Fortunately, I'm not a long-distance runner, so I only had to endure for another 2 miles. I'll go back to Asics or Saucony for my next pair.

I own two pairs of Brooks that I walk in. I also own a pair of Rykas, but feel that Brooks are better for power walking for exercise. I have a medium width foot that is actually closer to narrow then medium. However, these were extremely narrow and tight across the forefront of my foot, approximately halfway up the laces. No matter how much I loosened them, the shoes were still too tight. And therefore I am returning them, and I'm going to try the Glycerin. I will say that the arch support was excellent, as Brooks usually is.

I really wanted to like these shoes. I have narrow feet and plantar fasciitis. When I tried on the shoes I thought I was going to be in love. However, after walking around the house in them, I quickly noticed that down by the toe, the shoe bends and right where it bends, the piece of leather rubs on the top of my foot. I evaluated this for several days wanting to keep these because they were so comfortable everywhere else but I couldn't justify keeping them when they irritated me walking in my living room on carpet. I did read some other reviews with similar comments. I hope Brooks will reconsider this because they shoes would have been perfect but I anticipate that after several miles, it would have been a problem rubbing on my foot. I had also ordered Sauconys and they were my close second so I kept them instead of the Brooks.

Good looking shoe that fit well on my narrow foot with high arches. I returned it because there was not enough cushion for me.

I have the Brooks Ghost 7 and love them. I wanted a backup pair, but the color choices are limited so thought I'd try the Ghost 8. The toe box in the 8s is different than the 7s and the seam at the top rubbed my toe. I've returned the 8s (thanks, Zappos) and ordered the Glycerin 13. $30 more, so we'll see. I'm not a runner, but walk and exercise daily. I have arthritis in my knee and neck. With the Ghost 7s, I could put them on and not worry about anything hurting while I exercise.

I loved my Ghost 7, but Brooks has changed the Ghost 8. There is more forefoot cushioning, which is good. They also made the tongue a lot thicker which feels too restricting on my foot. Even with the laces loose, the shoe still feels tight on the top of my foot, which I don't like. I decided to order the Ghost 7 again instead.

I had the ghost 6 for years. Finally I couldn't find them. I bought these. They are no where near as good. They are slightly wider then the others and not as much support. They will have to do.

The shoelaces kept coming undone, felt smaller than my other brooks shoes and seemed to rub on my big toe in a strange way. Returning. They are cute, though

I had been loyal to the Ghost models and would look forward to the updates each year. Had to skip this year, however. The Ghost 8 color that is available in wide is so boring this time. Please go back to a more attractive style for wide widths!

Why do shoe makers do this?! I LOVED the Ghost 7, wore them until they had holes so I decided to skip the trip to the running store and order the 8. After 5 minutes of trying them out inside the house they were making me crazy-- plastic-y band detailing around the toe and above the laces was digging into my foot at every step. And they were none too small, if anything they seemed larger than my 7's (and I've had a baby since!) Really disappointed because I wanted to love them, very comfy and nice otherwise. Sending back, sadly. Wondering whether to try the Ghost 9 or head back to the running store. Already went through the same issue with Mizuno, so frustrated. And I'm a very slow and short distance runner. Thank goodness for Zappos lightning fast shipping and great customer service!!

I am disappointed because both pairs of Ghost 8s, rub on my right heel giving me blisters. The left rubs slightly too, just not enough to cause a blister. It is annoying and no fun! I am so disappointed. These shoes differ from prior years of Ghost. The material in the heel collapses when I put weight on them (like walking and running) causing the rubbing, where the multiple previous models of these shoes were firmer and did not, so I did not expect this problem before wearing them out of the house. These shoes look great, too bad I cannot wear them. I was so excited to replace my previous pairs of Ghost running shoes with new ones, especially since I read all the positive reviews. I guess I am now shopping for a different brand and style.

My third pair of Brooks in the past 3 years. This year's model is giving Brooks a bad name. Started noticing little pieces of unidentifiable green plastic at random spots in my home. Finally did identify as bits of the bottom of my shoes. This pair has had less use than my previous pairs and has deteriorated more rapidly. And a question to the powers that be at Brooks: Why must you punish the poor souls that wear the wide version of your shoes by only offering one color combination and it is the very ugliest?

I have owned several pair of Brooks shoes, which I have really enjoyed. These shoes are really cute but the comfort is terrible. Can only wear these shoes for a short period of time and then have to take them off!

I've been wearing Brooks Ghost styles for about 6 years. This is the first one I can't wear. The hard piece added at the toe (I assume to help wear, as that has been an issue for me) jams into the top of my big toe. The toe box itself seems tighter and the entire shoe stiffer. I've worn them around the house and they make my feet ache. They're going back.

I just got these and I think that I have to return them. My toenails catch on the hard plastic strip on the top and feels like they are going to be pulled off! That is very uncomfortable. I have worn Brooks for years, but this new trend along the toe - I am not a fan. I had Glycerins last time, and I may have to try the new ones of those. Why do they have to change the style every year? I would happily get an old model if I could find them.

Purchased the Ghost 8 specifically for high arches and underpronation. The insoles/soles of these shoes are very hard. My feet quickly felt uncomfortable in the little time it took to try them on. Also, I was expecting slightly more support in the arches. Regarding the metallic charcoal model... the trim looks red online, but it is really a dark pink. I ended up spending more for the Asics Gel-Kinsei 6. It's more expensive, but much more comfortable. It's also a better looking shoe.

I wanted to love this shoe. It is so comfortable to stand in but when you walk forward the stiff design material/plastic stitched at the bottom of the laces cuts across my foot and makes it impossible to keep going. Not sure if it is pronounced because I have a high arch but sadly returning.
