I found this coat to run a full size small. I loved the color but if you have pets, the finish on the coat really attracts hair.

This coat has many positives that would normally make me recommend it: 1) it is waterproof - When I have to take the dog out on those terrible winter days in Ottawa where we get terrible freeze rain, it keeps me dry and happy (without having to juggle holding an umbrella, gripping the leash and picking up after the dog), 2) it has a slim fit - It is much more stylish than your usual parka, 3) it is warm - Though it does not keep me warm on those really frigid winter days, it is great on those in-between days where my big parka is too warm but my light coat is too thin or impractical (i.e., snowing), 4) it is ++ lightweight - Not too puffy and great when commuting by bus where a big parka is just a pain. However, this coat has a very big negative - the zipper. I have many Arcteryx products and this one just doesn't cut it when it comes to quality. The zipper is a bit tricky to get up (that initial putting one in the other step) and once it is up, I have had the bottom part unzip on it's own, at which point I have to fight to fully unzip the coat and then rezip. In addition, the buttons don't seem to perfectly line up and so when I am on the go and trying to clip them closed once the zip is up, it can prove rather difficult. Lastly, the collar area is ++ stiff which makes it really uncomfortable as the hard material hits you right in the mouth area. Overall, I am very disappointed with this purchase. As much as it has several positives, I wouldn't buy this again and certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Looking forward to getting the zipper fixed at the end of the season (can't afford to be without during the winter while it gets fixed).

Bought this coat late last November. I pulled it out to wear this season and the pull on the front zipper broke off while I was trying to unzip the coat. Without the pull, it is very difficult to zip or unzip the coat. The zipper has been problematic from the beginning, having a tendency to split from the bottom up. For the price paid, this is shoddy quality. I had to take it into a store to have a temporary pull put on since the turnaround time for a repair is so long.

I've had this jacket for two years now. Overall the jacket is not bad. However, as the shoulders fit snug, I had to size up to a medium (usually I wear a size small), for the shoulders to fit comfortably. As a result the bottom of the jacket is very roomy and the wind and cold comes into the jacket easily. Because of this the jacket doesn't do a great job at keeping me warm. I wish it were a bit shorter and more snug at the bottom so it would be warmer.

Although this is a beautiful and warm jacket, it is not great for anything but casual walks. The outside pockets are on an angle and are too shallow which means my phone and the plastic bags, I use to clean up after the dogs, fall out. And, I can't even fit in a small pack of tissues on top of the dog's bags. Would be better if the pockets were deeper. The zipper sometimes comes apart in the middle, particularly when I bend down to pick up after my dogs or when I get into the car.

Even though the product looks qualitative, and the colour I chose is kind of unique (marinas), I got disappointed. The main thing the trim around neck is too harsh, if you leave it open then its too cold, if you close to the end its too harsh on your lower face around cheeks and mouth. You feel a kind of scratch. If you wear makeup forget about cleanliness the lipstick and foundation will smash everywhere around that area. Also, I've noticed if you leave it open, while driving, to watch the blind spot might be a challenge - you can miss the cars. I live in Montreal, Canada the weather here is humid and it snows a lot. At the end of November when its +3 -3 and humid, I felt cold in Patera coat. Sorry Arcterix, but I expected more for the price of this coat.

I purchased this coat last year, and within a month the zipper started separating while I was wearing it. I took it back - and it appears I was the second customer who returned the coat for the same reason. I think the zipper choice has been changed this year. Made me look slim, and I am not. Most down coats make me look like Michelin man.

I bought the Patera parka in December 2021. I just washed it and the colour from the inner cuff on the sleeves has now transferred to the outside of the sleeves of the coat. I washed again, and it's a little better but still not right. Also, the zipper now doesn't work. I thought that this brand was so high end in quality, it was expensive. I'm very disappointed, I really like the coat.

I have loved this jacket for the last year and a half and today my top zipper pull fell off. I live in B.C. and it kept me dry in the craziest of wet weather. Now I have no winter jacket which is upsetting as this jacket was an investment.

Some good features but disappointed in the fit. I ordered an xs but still find it very room through the body. It's very loose and boxy allowing too much air to circulate and preventing it from really providing enough warmth. Adding to that issue is the snap below the zipper - it constantly pops open allowing the cold air in. The zipper also needs work- the stars need to align to get it to zip up. I have a lot of Arcteryx products and have typically been happy with them but this one stands out as a disappointment, especially for the price.

I really dislike the revised version of this coat! I have tried on the previous model that was comfortable and somewhat flattering. I require a medium for arm length and already own the Durant in a medium: I'm 5'9 approx 140lbs and the mid-section/hip area of this coat is huge! I will sadly be returning this coat.

I expected to be toasty warm thru an Ottawa winter in this coat. Not the case. Need several layers on the cold days. This is more a late fall early winter coat . Good for messy days but not the really cold ones. It needs to be more fitted thru the waist as well. The zipper is splitting very easily now which is really annoying. It is a very expensive coat and I thought is would be much better than it is. Very disappointed.

Ceci n ai pas un parka..... Ceci est un manteaux de printemps. Vous devriez inclure une veste plus chaude pour mettre sous le manteaux , pour le prix ca serais vraiment aprecier.

This was my first Arc'teryx investment and I was really excited to try it out and I haven been on the hunt for an undeniably warm winter coat for Toronto winters. I just tried the Patera on in -10 weather conditions and I'm disappointed that it only performed "okay". I felt my core was warm enough but certainly felt cold air around my arms (it was a medium and I'm usually a medium, couldn't size down). Even when I took the coat off the inner sleeves felt cool to the touch so there was definitely cold air circulating. It was just okay but certainly did not give me the undeniable warmth one would expect given the price tag. I would much rather have some extra weight and warmth added to this coat so it can perform in -10 (and colder) temperatures. I could feel the Goretex protect from the wind so that was good. Probably a good coat for more mild winters but I don't think it's suitable for any Canadian winter (unless you run warm).

Wirklich sehr, sehr schade!!

I wish I had read the reviews about the poor quality zipper before making the purchase. It is the worst zipper which can be used on this jacket. It is extremely difficult to zip up. Moreover, the zipper would split every time which is very annoying!!!!!! Overall the jacket is lightweight and cutting is sleek, but it is not as warm as I expected it to be. Hubby and me own 10 different Arc'teryx hoodies/jackets; Patera is the most expensive one but the quality is ironically the lowest. I am very disappointed about this jacket.

Nice jacket but the material collects dust like crazy. It may be the finish of the jacket that gives the gortex a soft finish which, as a result appears to work like micro-Velcro for dust! I have several other Arcteryx Gortex jackets and shell, and wanted a more work appropriate jacket. The feel of the Patera is different than other Gortex jackets (softer) and the gortex material also wrinkles alot more than my other jackets. I was looking for a warm and work appropriate jacket, but will have to return the Patera because I cannot get over how much dust and lint it collects. I seriously don't even know where all the dust is coming from.
