This coat is amazing! Super warm, water just beads off. I live in Philadelphia and this keeps me warm and very comfortable all winter long. I've had mine two years and still feels and looks brand new.

Best coat ever! Initially, I had been gifted a Canada Goose coat for Christmas and had wore it a few times through the cold weather we often experience in Toronto - the coat didn't keep me warm like I had expected and one week later, I went back and exchanged it for the Patera. Even walking from the mall to the car, I realized I had made the right decision. This coat keeps me so warm on my walks to work. I've never written a review for a product, but am so impressed, decided it needed to be done!

I live in northern Canada and wear this coat walking back and forth to work in. -25 or colder temps( not counting windchill). It is warm and the length helps to ensure that your core stays warm. If you wear lined pants and proper layers this coat is lovely. My only concern is that there is no reflective tape anywhere so you don't"glow" in the dark. That is a concern here in our climate as I normally walk to and from work in the dark so being reflective is an important safety feature that is missing.

Slightly different slimmer styling than previous model, seriously the best buy for a wet
& cold winter climate ie Scotland great pockets multi purpose garment I'm seriously contemplating another for the cupboard I've needed something like this for years, you don't need masses of stuff on underneath so very easy to go into a hot building and be comfortable by simply removing the coat having go there through driving rain/sleet/snow etc at 2 degs C or even sub zero (-10 here sometimes)

Love that this lightweight, soft coat has room for layers, zips easily and is just beautiful in the deep moss color.

This is by far the best heavy coat I could have gotten for Chicago winters. I'm a college student and have at least a mile walk to classes everyday; the Patera Parka kept me warm and dry all winter. The down insulation is incredibly warm and comfortable, and the Gore-Tex shell keeps me from getting wet when we get blowing snow/sleet. I love that the collar comes up high on my chin and that the hood is big enough that I can wear a beanie underneath. The cuffs on the sleeves are great for keeping snow and cold air out of the sleeves and warm air in. Absolutely love this coat and know that it will last me forever!

I think this is an excellent coat. I live in the UK, in London (although I'm from Canada#, and I notice the climate is still cold. Whilst the weather shows something like 5 degrees, it actually feels like -2 on a regular basis.
I thought this may be overkill for London #and it may be) but I'm very happy I bought it. I am 5 ft 7 and am about 145lbs and I would normally buy a large. But I found I was swimming in the large. It probably has room for layering. But given I don't need to layer much, walking around London, I went for Medium which fits nicely actually.
I think Gore-Tex is very important in a cold climate and in an urban setting. If I was living in say Toronto, it would be less important. But in London a) it rains more and b) you walk quite a bit. It can be 7 degrees and cold and rainy and damp but it feels like 0 or -2 and this is great. You are a lot more likely to get caught in the rain and having a down jacket which isn't waterproof doesn't work super well in a cold climate.
I own a light Canada Goose coat and whilst that's warm and comfy - it doesn't perform well in the rain. This will. I think I'm also going to invest in a Codetta for warmermonths.
I'm confident taking this for a long walk as it's very durable. All I need is a tshirt and jeans under and I'm good to go as long as I have a pair of gloves.
There's an internal pocket which is good for things like your phone and the pockets zip up and are helpful. I'd say this is a great buy, even in a more rainy climate.

This coat was highly recommended by the store manager at my local Outdoor/Sporting Store. I was skeptical because of how lightweight and thin the parka is-- but I was not disappointed! This is the warmest coat that I have ever worn. I have been wearing it in 10F weather and it is toasty!
The GoreTex is great for wind protection but is also works with wet weather. The tall zip up neck and hood is an added feature. The zipper is easy to use.
The parka is great for walking around in the city and you don't overheat walking between indoors and outdoors. It runs true to size. It is slim fitting and has room to layer underneath if needed.
Also the black is more like a charcoal gray.

Unverwstlich.

This jacket kept me warm with weather like -50 degrees celcius. I am 5'11 and 145lbs and i bought size medium and it fits perfectly! long enough and the sleeves are also long enough! (rare thing for me!) The only problem is the zipper, not the best to be honnest, but who buys a winter down coat for the zipper? I recommand this jacket to everyone who will do intensive activity outside (Too warm!) and to everyone in the city! Its Chic and nice + warm!

I looked for a long time before deciding to buy the Patera. I have now had it for about two months and it has quickly become the best winter coat I have ever owned. Seriously, my love of this coat is verging on unhealthy! I love how light it is and how warm it keeps me during freezing NYC weather. I also really like the fact that the puffy part of this coat is hidden inside, keeping the exterior looking a little bit sleeker and nicer. And the Gore-Tex is great too in wet weather. I don't think I've worn another coat since this one arrived in the mail.
Over Christmas, I traveled north of the Arctic Circle in Sweden to the Ice Hotel in Jukkasjarvi. I wore this coat the entire time I was there and actually found it to be warmer than the warm outfits you could borrow from the hotel. I think if it's warm enough to wear near the top of the world in the dead of winter, it is a wonderful option for anyone who deals with real winter on a daily basis wherever they live.

I cannot say enough about this fantastic coat.
I live in Northwestern Ontario where we have already seen -30+ this winter and I have continued to go for my evening walks with this jacket and some good layering. It is toasty warm, has enough room for layering underneath and fantastic features such as a huge hood (for any size hat!), tall neck area (goes up past my nose for added wind protection), double zip. Best of all it doesnt make me look like a huge snowman, I have received lots of compliments on how nice it looks despite being a parka.
I think the important thing to remember is layering under any winter coat. With the right layers I am confident this jacket will get me through the even chillier days to come. I also am a huge fan of Arcteryx and the quality product I always get from this company. If you're on the fence I say go for it! well worth the investment.
For size reference I am 5'4, 130 lbs and bought a medium. Its a bit big but has room for layers and still looks shapely and flattering.

Living in New England can be brutal during the winter. I get so cold that it physically hurts me to the bone. After doing a lot of research I decided on the patera parka an this coat is amazing!!! We recently experienced a polar vortex for about a week with temperatures in the low teens and single digits with some serious winds that made it seem below 0 at night. This is the first jacket that actually kept me warm. It was just the other parts of my body that the jacket didn't cover that made me aware of the cold.
Some people complain about the zipper but that's what you get with a jacket that incorporates gortex into the design. I have cleared my car of snow using the arms and the jacket stayed dry. I am so in love with this coat, I am ready for winter!!!
The fit is perfect. I am 5'5" about 160, athletic build. I got a large so that it would also fit my big sweaters that I wear during the winter and it is perfect. I love the long overlapping sleeve that completely secure your gloves in. And the empire waist clasps really make it very flattering. The insulated pockets are wonderful and the synthetic nylon that lines the coat is so soft, almost like silk.

I live in the great Canadian north for work, where winter comes in October and leaves in May or sometimes June. We get temperature like -50 Celcius often in winter! I wanted to get myself a long coat this winter. This one is PERFECT so far! It is warm, really warm! I am 5'11 and about 140 lbs and i got a medium. The arms are long enough and it goes a little higher than my knees. The only negative point would be the zipper! It's kind of hard to zip but its not really a big deal for me! I love Arc'teryx coats. I have a wind jacket already and i love it, wouldnt exchange it for anything. I am thinking about maybe getting another winter coat also, for when i go snowshoeing or cross country skiing... This one is maybe too long and warm for that! (I think, havent tried it yet!) I recommand this jacket 100%
Also, i picked this one because there is no fur on the hood!

I LOVE this jacket. It is extremely warm but also incredibly light. Most really warm jackets are super bulky, but this jacket is light as a feather and it's waterproof! This coat also fits really nicely and has a cute shape. It's great for around the city in cold weather if you are waiting for the bus, watching a sports game, or anything that requires you to be standing around outside. For walking to and from work - I found it a bit too warm (but that's a Vancouver winter!). I recently moved to Minneapolis, MN and I think this jacket is going to save my life!

This is an extremely high quality and gorgeous product. Unlike the previous reviewer, I don't think the arms are not warm enough (and this is coming from someone who is ALWAYS cold). I am 5'4/115, got the parka in XS and it fits perfectly. The cut is very flattering, slimming, and it hits right above my knees. I get compliments on it all the time.

I needed a new winter jacket and I wanted one that would last so I bought this for the winter. It is windproof/water proof and great for mild winters. I found that I get cold in temperatures below approx -5C so I was slightly disappointed because of the hefty price tag. Perfect for windy/slushy/wet weather but wouldn't recommend for extreme cold.

I have had this coat for a week. I love its weight and, so far, it has kept me warm and dry, although I have yet to test it in temperatures less than -5C.
I have two criticisms. One is the "neck gasket" is very stiff and irritates my face. I'm hoping it will soften up with time and, meanwhile, I either turn down the neck or wear a neck warmer.
The other criticism is with the inability to "cinch" the waist. I bought an XS and there's still plenty of room to wear extra layers underneath if needed. However, the body is not shaped in any way which, not only isn't very flattering, but also lets in cold air. An adjustable waist would be appreciated.
I am a daily walker and wanted a "visible" coat so went with the colour Solitude. I would have preferred a bright colour, such as red. Maybe brighter and more visible colours can be considered for future versions?

I just bought my second Patera jacket after my first one was worn beyond repair. I love the light weight, big warmth, and total wind/waterproof protection of this jacket. My first one was black and this time I got it in figment, which is a gorgeous colour. I took one star off as dust and dirt is very visible on this outer material and hard to brush off completely.
