My daughter uses this as her school backpack and it is perfect. She replaced a cute, yet awkward shoulder tote bag with this and she couldn't be happier.

I originally got the Borealis pack and my boyfriend the Surge pack. Shortly after receiving my Borealis I exchanged it for a Surge. The Surge pack had so much room I can carry my laptop and all my books comfortably! There is even pockets for my pens, water bottles, and headphones. I love the design and the colors, and it seems to repel rain off of it pretty well which is awesome since I live in the PNW. Can't wait to use this for hiking in the spring .

This is for my use as a student and because I am on campus all day I have to carry a huge amount of books! It is a great, but I could use just a little bigger compartments for space. It is comfortable and very durable though!

This was a huge let down. It is very poor quality, and has strins hanging off of it. for such a high price this was very disappointing. If somebody gave me this backpack I would think it cost $60 at most.

I got this backpack to hold all my books for medical school, along with a laptop and tablet. The sheer number of pockets alone is amazing, but it also helps that you can hold so much without it actually hurting your back. Would highly recommend this backpack.

This bookbag is really durable. I've had it for like two weeks now and I love it. It has just the perfect amount of space.

Pros: - Very comfortable (owned more than 10 backpacks) - Lightweight, great hiking pack - Waist clip - Built in Whistle - Extra padding and back ventilation - TSA friend laptop pocket - Fleeced lined pocket for phones (big enough to fit my iPhone 6 Plus) Cons: - Wish there was more internal pockets. - Better fabric (1000D). - Tough to easily access items when pack is stuffed since it doesn't open all the way (Clam style) - Side clips get in the way when trying to open the main and small compartments. - Laptop compartment may not fit thicker sized laptops.

Great bag! Very comfortable and I LOVE all the separate zippered compartments. Very easy to stay organized. The padding makes it a comfortable backpack to wear for an extended amount of time. Great choice and love the pink!

I go to college part time and work full time as a governess. Really, all that means is I carry way too many books and a laptop. This backpack gives me great support and has enough space to accommodate my books and do-dads. I wish it was a bit for durable on the handles; I don't use them and the front one is already fraying. I'm thinking it was to make the back back more appealing fashion wise because it does not effect the overall use of the back pack.. it's just ugly.

I bought this book bag for my first year of college after seeing it in a store. With all the pockets I was so excited. I hate this backpack. It starts of very heavy and after adding an agenda, pencils, my laptop, and a few notebooks, my shoulders are screaming. If you look, the straps are "detached" from the back panel. I think this may be the reason why it's so uncomfortable. My 3 year old borealis works way better. It sucks because I love the grey/mint color wave.

Bought this for my daughter for hauling school books - she carries a back-breaking load daily and I wanted it to be as comfortable as possible, durable and look good too. Love that it is made for women and has all the padding and a breathable design. I'm sure it will be handy for things beyond school and throughout her high school years.

It is amazing backpack. I pack a lot of things for work each day, it is very important for me that the backpack is durable and comfortable. I love how comfortable this backpack is and how it fits my body.

College student that will use this product to bring textbooks, notebooks, and laptop to school. I've only used it for a couple of days, but it's been great. Comfortable to wear. Lots of pockets. Plenty of storage for all my school items.

This backpack is amazing, and as a petite woman, I have been looking for a backpack that is designed for smaller frames. However, this is the 21st century, can we please move beyond "girl" colors and get some dark blues, greens, and browns??? For this reason alone, I will likely be sending this back.

I don't like this backpack at all. I love North Face products. Today I thought I left my North Face raincoat in the airport and I almost cried. But this backpack is way smaller than it seems. I usually carry my computer, one single subject spiral notebook and my planner in my backpack. If I put a textbook in it, it looks so full it's ridiculous. People actually comment on it. I'm a premed student so I need something that can hold at least a textbook sometimes and this doesn't do it. Also my water bottles constantly fall out of the water bottle holders. The hip strap is so thin that it cuts into your hip. I was very disappointed with the new line of backpacks at the North Face. Sorry North Face Im sure you'll improve upon your products!

I am a guy who likes backpacks in the same way a shopaholic woman does with Kate Spades and MK's. I always appreciate backpacks with strong branding, sometimes overlooking utility and practicality (a cross I bear). But with Northface backpack Surge series, you get to have all you need in a backpack - Durability, Space, Number of pockets and compartments, and...a strong brand :) It's base weight is a little heavy which is apparent to all NF backpacks. But this is negligible when you are considering durability and weather-toughness of this backpack. I still have the first model of Surge and the only issue I ever had with it is the faded surface which is fine considering what we've been through i.e. mountain climbing to the highest peak in Northern Philippines on a stormy day (rough day). So in a way, I am expecting the same level of durability for this model. Its compartments are pretty neat and very much suited to my job which typically includes a laptop, documents, jacket, packed food, umbrella, and all the other small stuffs. They all fit well.

I've got 2 jobs at the airport so I have 2 uniforms. I am able to pack up everything I need into my SURGE Backpack for my 4 days a week double shift. I definitively do not need anything else. Isn't it awesome ?

I started off with the Jester and went to the Surge. I carry my laptop textbooks notebooks pencils all my charges and my iPad plus my wallet. It fits everything that I need to carry. Then when I go to Mexico it fits all of the essentials and I can put it as my carry on.

I use this bag mainly for school as I am a college student. I love the separate zipper compartment for my laptop and the separate compartment to organize small things. Overalls it's a fantastic backpack and I'm very glad I purchased it!

For years I have carried around a shoulder laptop bag to the detriment of my back and shoulder. I finally decided to go with the back pack and this one is great. Very functional and comfortable for getting around the city and travel.
