I got this bag to replace a climbing-specific backpack that i'd been doing bike delivery with for 2 years. The thing had fallen apart, the zipper shot, all of it.
Safe to say the Spire has everything I needed and more! It's zipperless, just a roll-down top with a clip (that you don't even need to close the bag), so there's no chance of any zippers breaking! The webbing in the back is perfect for holding my U-lock in a pinch, and it's a big U-lock too, the biggest one On Guard makes. But I'm never worried about it slipping through the webbing! Even when I skip the Velcro top strap and just put it through the non-adhesive bottom 2, it's never slipped!
I can carry so much stuff in this bag, literally fit 8 deliveries in it one time. The bottle pouch is so useful and I'm pleased the bag came with one. The two external stuff pockets are handy for my wallet and other bits and bobs, and the zippers are conveniently on one side so I can just shift the bag around my shoulder and get at the stuff, instead of taking the bag totally off.
Also last thing, I'm 5'1'' and female so I was worried about this bag being "too big" to fit me comfortably, as it were. Didn't have to worry as it turns out. The fit is great, despite having 5 more liters on my old biking pack. All in all, this is a great product, well worth the money. Highly recommend.

What impressed me at first look was just how well built this backpack was. The materials used, the stitching, everything was top notch. I love the space it provides, and abundance of organization in all the pockets.

...actually told my son that I would accept it as a hand me down lol.
Solid construction, understated, with great design accents.

I usually hate top entry bags but this one is wide and spacious, has great storage design, and is very comfortable all day, even when I ride my bike. I love that it protects my school work and computer from rain and that it looks hot!

amazing backpack, very functional for a student. Also used it for a hiking trip and it worked great, lots of storage space. The only critique is that the side water bottle compartment is a bit tight for a 1L Nalgene.

I wanted a good looking backpack that fit mutiple needs: to fit under the seat on an airplane, to fit a laptop and have easy access to it without having to rammage through all my belongings, to fit my kids stuff, to be able to bile with it
I am impressed with the backpack and how well it does those things but I did almost return it -its just a bit too boxy and big for a girl. Glad I kept it though. It a perfect Mary Poppins bag for a busy professional and a mom of two.

does not feel like im wearing a bagpack it fits great on my back and does not get in the way of my back protector. im using it to work while i ride my motorcycle. for added safety i made a reflective Velcro patch which cost me nothing since i had the materials at home.

I work for a company with headquarter in San Francisco. Many of my coworkers are obsessed about Timbuk2 and I have never paid much attention to the brand. My last trip to San Francisco, one of my coworkers bothered me a lot to buy a new backpack, since my backpack was already shabby. So I decided to buy a Timbuk2. Oh my God, I've never written a review in my whole life, this is my first in 34 years and honestly, I loved it. AMAZING BACKPACK, stylish and also very very very comfortable! Thanks Timbuk2.

It glides right on to my back; I have a pretty big back and it feels effortless! It's sleek, it has the folks that catches a person's eye up close, but subtle from afar!
The bag is HUGE! You have more that enough space for everyday usage!

Really nice pack style top means I can put a lot in this for weekend trips or pare it down to a slim daily work carry. The extra pockets and thoughtful design means everything I need is quickly within reach. If it had a key clip it would be perfect but the mesh inside the front pocket holds them perfectly well.

Great bag. I used it for a week now and it is really simple and functional. Everything is logical and easy to handle. it is much more spacious than it looks and it feels very sturdy. So far so good. Love it.
The only con is that if the compartments could be abit bigger but this is a personal perference

I use this bag for everything. I keep my laptop and school stuff in it with my gym shoes and clothes and a jacket at all times. The roll top also makes it ideal for carrying groceries home. The secure hook with the Velcro makes the bag both easy to open and securely shut. Though I use it for "urban day to day life," it will definitely be the bag that I take backpacking and hiking. All that being said, the front most pocket is difficult to see into to find stuff in it, and there could be more functionality in the inside compartments.

But given Timbuk2's durability, I doubt that I'll have to. It fits everything I need on a daily basis plus an extra water bottle and change of clothes. More comfortable than the old backpack I was using and keeps the weight flat to my back which is easy on my lower back/shoulders.
Love this pack so far

I got this primarily for the easy access to the bag from the zipper on the back, and it hasn't disappointed after using for a few weeks. I can easily fit a 13" MacBook Air, 12.9" iPad Pro, small bag, a couple of books, extra shoes, water bottle and other small odds and ends that go into the pockets.
It sits comfortably on the back and though feels a little heavier than my previous North Face backpack, the quality is definitely there in materials and craftsmanship.
The only thing that I can see wearing out very quickly is the velcro. I already have noticed a slight decrease in the stickiness of the velcro on the inside pocket. However, that doesn't really bother me since easy access to my electronics is my goal. I could see this being an eventual issue for those folks who only want to use the velcro and not the clip to secure the bag.
My only complaint is minor- I prefer having two bottle holders on the outside because I have a coffee thermos as well as a water bottle. However, with the roominess inside the bag, I have plenty of space to keep one inside and the other in the outside bottle pocket.

Satisfied with the performance of this pack so far. The pack is quite spacious, and is deceivingly sleek when not at full capacity. Could use slightly more compartmentalization to keep small items organized.

I have had this bag for about two years now. I have used it for the past two years of college. The bag houses my 13in MBP from 2017, a small journal, pencil pouch with pencils, two A5 notebooks, and a tech pouch with various cables and chargers. I also sometimes carry a 2nd gen iPad pro, 10.5in. I never had the need to carry textbooks because they were all digital. I'm not gonna lie the bag does get a bit heavy, but it is so well made it has not ripped or anything. In these two years, I have used this bag almost on a daily bases, and I also took it on a week-long trip to London; the bag survived London's rai.

It seems bulky at first but once you get use to it you barely feel it. I use it for work but I can't wait to take it on my first hiking trip this summer! Overall good quality and it works for my needs.

I had my last rucksack for 10+ years.. no joke.. I actually went trekking in the Himalayas with it and was very attached.. so getting a new bag was a big deal. I have to say that I'm actually really very happy with this bag, the size is great and the quality excellent.

Commuting around NYC can be treacherous. I needed a waterproof backpack for my laptop that was small enough to fit on a crowded subway, large enough to be a weekend bag, waterproof, and tough enough for a daily commute. The spire fit the bill perfectly.

I was using a Timbuk2 showdown before getting the spire. I loved the bag but it was small. Spire has ample space and still looks small even when full. This is simply put the best backpack I owned.

Probably one of the best backpacks I have ever purchased. Love the compartments. Love the size. Love the fit on my back. I'd highly recommend this bag to any commuter, any student, anyone needing a big bang for the buck.

Such a good bag! I have been using it for my daily commute the last few weeks and have taken it camping, and it has been awesome. No complaints! Most I've ever fit was a towel, a wash cloth, 2 hats, 6 shirts, 3 pairs of underwear, two sweaters, camera, notebook, sketchbook, boots strapped to the side, and a sleeping bag tied on
