I have weird feet, so let me share with you my saga. I have very thin skin and blister easily, and I also have bony knobs on the back of my heels that are very unforgiving. I have a high arch (my footprint is almost two separate blobs), and my feet would technically be narrow except that I have worn hippie-type shoes my whole life instead of cute, comfortable shoes and so my toebox is normal width. To top it off, I think I am a size 8 3/4, but that doesn't exist! I wanted a waterproof-ish sandal because I frequently hike wet terrain near beaches. Last year I bought some Keen Whispers, and it was unbelievable how much my feet slid backwards in them. I think it is because of the high arch. I stubbornly wore them and managed to blister in a NEW PLACE EACH TIME. So this year I tried two sizes of Keen Venice H2 (8.5 and 9), the Ahnu Tilden V, and the cute JBU Jetty. My feet still slid backward in the Keens no matter what, and the JBU Jetty was too tight around my heel knobs despite the right sizing. Winner: Ahnu Tilden V, size 9. No blisters, and I love how easy they are to get off and on. I'm not a fan of the over-tired "made out of outdoorsy woven ribbon webbing" look, and the KEEN and JBU certainly looked cuter and more modern, but I LOVE MY SHOES. And cheers to Zappos! Without your fast shipping and return policy, all of us freak-footed folks would be hobbling around, all grumpy!

I had been a fan of the Keen Turia and owned several pairs. Then they quit making them. What?! I already own a pair of Ahnu hiking shoes and love them so thought I'd give the Tilden V a try. I had read that they help with arch support. Boy do they ever!! I have a high arch and high instep and because of a bum knee, need as much support as possible. The Tilden V shoes are fantastic! Seriously, sometimes it feels like I don't have any shoes on at all and as a barefootin' gal, that's awesome. Really supports the knees, too. Give them a try. I'm glad I did. P.S. I think Zappos no hassle purchase and return policy is amazing too!

I bought a pair of these three years ago for a trip to Africa. I was only allowed a bare minimum of clothing, so I took a risk and brought these as my only shoes. Best choice ever! I wore them every day for seventeen straight days -- hiking in the Kalahari Desert, walking in the tall grass of a rhino preserve, and dealing with the wet and slippery paths near Victoria Falls. They were the perfect choice. They were wonderfully comfortable right out of the box, no blisters (I always I have a huge problem with blisters and new shoes). I have a bunion on my left foot, and no rubbing whatsoever. And they're waterproof, so no problem in the rain. Plus, they've lasted forever. Only buying a new pair now because the puppy got a hold of the old pair and chewed them up. I highly recommend these shoes if you want a casual warm-weather alternative to sneakers. Truly, a great pair of shoes.

Love these shoes. I have decided that I can no longer wear sandals because they don't offer the support I need after a hip replacement and spinal fusion. I usually wear orthopedics in my regular shoes but with these I don't need my orthopedics and they provide a stable platform and adequate arch support. I love the open feeling as a sandal would provide but gives me the support that I need.

I love these Ahnus! I tried several different brands, very similar in style, and these by far were the most attractive and comfortable. I brought them with me when I traveled. I have orthopedic issues, and for serious walking I used a solid pair of athletic shoes, but for lighter walking these were fabulous. Now I am home and it is winter time, but no snow, so I continue to wear them with heavy socks all over town. I know I am breaking fashion rules, but they are so comfortable and because they are not obviously open-toed (with dark socks) they almost look like shoes not sandals. I typically wear a size 8, but got an 8½ so I could wear heavy socks.

ANHU FAVORITE! I had never heard of this brand, but thanks to the genius algorithms of Zappos , I have finally been able to resolve my Sandal Issues. I tried the Keen Newport 2 which was far too wide in the toes. Although sturdier than this one. Then I tried the Clearwater X which was great except for the non-existent arch support. This proved to be the winner. Adjustable heel strap and Lace Up features provides custom fit. The bonus was finding a sandal without a girlish colored trim like magenta or mint green. This comes in a black and grey like the more fashionable crossover Mary Jane type sandals. Appreciate the help some other reviewers in finding arch support in with that worked !

Best water/ all weather shoes ever! I read many reviews comparing this brand with Chacos and Keens. I'm glad I chose these as they are adjustable two ways...around the ankle as well as the top lacing. I wore them for three day days of walking and activity without a "break in " period and had no trouble at all. Highly recommend these shoes!

Perfect in every way! They are great indoors and out, on gravel, in bumpy fields, on pavement, and at work. Sometimes I wear them with socks in the winter and no one notices. I am an underpronator and these work fine and have held up well over two years.

I wanted a pair of closed toe sandals like these that would perform and look somewhat fashionable while biking and walking on Sanibel Island for a week. These worked wonderfully. I usually take a 7 or 7 1/2 M and ordered the 7 which works well. They aren't too narrow or too wide. I like the black color because they coordinate well with outfits. I do wear custom orthotics with other shoes, can't wear them with these. However, for the week I spent in them, I have had no foot issues. They have a moderate arch support, are comfortable right out of the box, and breathe well. Looking forward to wearing them again when the weather improves up North!

These worked so well hiking in Hawaii -- able to take on lava rocks, sand, water, trails. No problems with walking without inserts -- the pronation support was good for me. No pinching or rubbing anywhere -- loved em!

I LOVE THIS SANDAL. They were recommended to me because on top of a bunion, pronation, and plantar fasciitis, I was recuperating from a badly broken ankle. They were so comfortable that I wore them out of the store and couldn't resist what for me was an extreme test - walking two miles in my neighborhood on concrete, uphill and down. Normally I couldn't have gone half that distance in a sandal (even my expensive Mephistos) and would have been lunging for the Advil. I couldn't believe it - in these sandals I was fine. Love, love, love them - AND, by the way, my Sugarpine Air Mesh athletic shoes.

I bought 3 prs of amphibious hiking/walking shoes. Merrell All Out Blaze Sieve, Choco Evo Outcross Free, and Ahnu Tilden V. Here's my comparison of all 3: The Merrells weren't quite supportive enough, as I like a lot of arch support. Also, the part around the back of the heel did tend to push my foot forward a little, causing my toes to hit the end even though the actual length was correct. I would still recommend trying them, as they were comfortable, and I have several Merrells that I like. The Chacos looked so light and minimal, I was hoping to love them. But the neoprene kept rolling in on itself around the ankle which was unworkable for me. Great footbed, though with arch support galore. Finally, the Ahnus: I'm keeping these! Great foodbed, not too constricting around the top, no irritating rough spots inside, adjustable heelstrap, and great looking, to boot! Of course, all amphibious shoes make your feet sweat when it's hot outside, no matter how ventilated they are, so I can't complain about that!

Good in length but too narrow for me. It's my foot/not the shoe. I'm going to try the men's size.

Looks good and fits well. Returning it because it takes more strength than I have to push down the snap that secures the strap.

I bought these for the summer after having worn the Ahnu Sugarpine hiking in both Portugal and Acadia National Park and had no issue with foot pain or support. These sandals are incredibly comfortable, and this is coming from someone who hates wearing any shoes without socks due to constant blisters and scrapes. Although my feet will still get soaked in the rain, I feel like less of my foot will be exposed to city streets barring stepping directly into a puddle. In the Sugarpine I wore my usual size 8. In these I went down to a 7.5 and I still have plenty of room to wiggle my toes. I'll definitely tighten the strap for actual hiking, but casual walking they feel fine a bit loose.

Not sure about the sizing, I ordered both an 8 and an 8.5. Tried on the 8 first and it was a perfect fit. However, I could feel some very rough stitching against my little toes. I'd have had blisters in an hour if I'd worn them. Didn't even try the 8.5 since the 8 was the right fit. I liked the style because it didn't have the tight elastic (neoprene?) opening around the ankle; I have a very high instep and often can't even get into such styles. The buckle-and-strap adjustment/closure is annoying to manipulate and must be fastened or unfasterned to get the sandal on or off. A velcro closure here would be much better. I'm returning both pairs and have ordered some more Keen Whispers to replace my old ones. Hoping the neoprene opening will work for me. It did before, but I concluded long ago that the sandals were a half size too large. Thank you Zappos, for putting up with all my returns as I try to find the right sandal.

I am in love with the Tilden V sandals. They are completely and easily adjustable, and within moments out of the box, I had the perfect fit. They are sturdy but cute - I much prefer this toe style (as opposed to the boxy-looking toe, like on the Keen sandals). The sole looks like it might be hard, but it feels quite comfortable and stays cool and dry, even after several long days of city walking. Bonus points for breathability and adjustability, especially if your feet (like mine) tend to swell in >100F temperatures!

Love these for my basic everyday shoes for summer. I got the gray and it goes with everything. Roomy shoe for my kinda wide foot, yet not sloppy. More practical for my lifestyle than a sandal and let's air get to my toes. Perfect. I chose these over others for their light weight, yet sturdy, construction and excellent reviews.

I wanted a sandal with closed toes and heels and purchased these. They were comfortable straight away due to the roomy toe box. Great support for walking. I would say they run true to size but with lots of wiggle room for the toes! So just a tiny bit on the wide side rather than narrow. I would not wear a sandal for a rough hike due to sand and pebbles, but these are perfect for every other outside activity! I wear a size 8 medium and although roomy, there is no slipping! Very tempted by more colors! I tried lots of others (thanks to Zappo's) and chose these Anhu Tildens and a pair of Keen Rose without a closed heel.

I have to walk 1 to 2 miles every day, and I have extremely-hard-to-please feet these days because of plantar fasciitous. But these shoes are so comfortable that I bought 3 pair (so I'll have a "dress" pair, an every-day pair, and a spare pair); previously I have worn a pair during summer for other last 3 years. Hard to believe, but I can wear them with no break-in period at all. They are without a doubt the most comfortable shoes I've owned in a long, long time. I have to wear orthotics because of plantar fasciitis and fallen arches. The shoes have no insoles, but my orthotics fit in anyway, and they feel really good. My only wish ragarding these is that they would come in some prettier colors! Terrie

These shoes are amazing and they last forever. I just purchased my second pair, and Ive worn the first pair for about 8 years. They still haven't worn out, but I was ready for a change. The arch is just right for me, moderate. They are good for walking and I wear them all summer.

I use these both as water shoes for kayaking (they're tough and supply great protection for toes, sole, and heel when carrying kayak through shallow rocky water), and I use them as well for everyday wearing. They are extremely comfortable, have excellent support, are easy to slip on and off, and are cool looking. Plus Ahnu is (was) purported to be a socially and environmentally conscientious company.

I wore the Ahnu Tilden straight out the box on an hour long hike and then a murky swim with my dog. They are very comfortable and stable for trails and I can see wearing them bike riding and walking around town.

I wasn't sure what I was looking for at first but I wanted a shoe that was airy, sturdy but comfortable for biking and hiking. These shoes are perfect! They are very comfortable but yet give me enough support for these activities. I love them! They fit very well. So far I am enjoying wearing them while biking. I will be taking them to Lake Tahoe end of July for some serious hiking.
