I love the arch support in these shoes. The reviews I read said100% excellent arch support and that is what I got. I wish the straps had more holes in them and there was more support from the straps over the top of the foot, but this is the only pair of sandals I could find that had a good arch support! I have very flat feet and have tib tendonitis. Thank you for the Rio! I would have given it five stars if there had been more holes in the ankle strap!

The regular/narrow was not the width I was used to even though the disclaimer made it sound like that was their standard width, so I had to return for the wide (I am not usually a wide in other brands). Zappos was out of my size/width for an exchange, so I had to order elsewhere.

As the other reviews say, get the Narrow width, since it's the same as a regular width in other brands. This is my first time trying this brand and I wanted to like these because of the utilitarian look and reputation for comfort/quality. However, I found that these weren't adjustable enough for me. My foot didn't sit within the pre-molded sole (especially the toe line) and the ankle strap wasn't able to be tightened enough. It felt like the shoes flapped and rattled around on my feet while walking. I prefer a more secure fit for my shoes.

There is something about this shoe that did not add up for me. Not enough arch support, a bit clunky and a little too long. Honestly it drives me nuts when companies decide to 'improve' the line...usually means goodbye old reliable and hello funky new idea.

I really wanted to like the Rio and was hoping they would be comfortable right away. I put them on and the foot bed felt a little too narrow. Also, the rim around the edge got in my way. The shoes fit my length correctly but my toes must’ve laid strange because my toenails kept rubbing it. I feel like these things might have been resolved by breaking them in but I am unwilling to pay $105 dollars for shoes I can’t even wear right away. I got the rio because they have a strap behind the heel, which I need. I wish you made more women’s models with heel straps. I could only find 2 on Zappos.

I normally wear a 7, 7 1/2 but in this shoe the 37 worked. I have capsulitis in my left foot, 2nd metatarsal and found the sole to be too hard. Also, because the sole is stiff it tends to pull on the ankle strap with every step which will eventually cause a blister which is why I had to return the Yara style. I really wanted to be able to wear a Birkenstock but with the capsulitis they won't work for my feet so I had to return them.

I liked the look of this shoe and really wanted it to work but the ankle strap bothered me a lot so I'm sending back.

I can't believe these are a 39. Either I'm wearing the wrong size or these run big.

After exchanging a traditional double strap pair of Birkenstocks for these I was very excited to find that the ankle strap fit around my ankle brace and I was even able to buckle the buckle... However with there being a break in time to mold to your feet I can not justify the price to take a chance, I do believe they are a very well made sandal and the foot bed lining was very comfortable, sounds crazy but I will stick to my lesser expensive sanuk loafers comfortable right from the start no wait time. I usually wear a 10 in womens and had to order a 39 in these and the size fit perfect

I've always heard such good things about Birkenstock so I finally decided to give it a try. These are not cute or stylish, but that wasn't my priority. I have been desperate for relief from Plantar Fasciitis for over a year now. I wore the Birkenstocks around the house for awhile but I could not stand them for long enough to break them in. It was torture. I'm sure if my feet were "normal" these would be great; but not for me at this time!

Need bigger ankles, sending these back. Too clunky and chunky.

I was looking forward to my first pair of Birkestock's based on all the rave reviews both here and elsewhere. I thought the footbed felt as hard as rock. Not comfortable for me - I will stick with my Romika's.

Review not for shoes themselves. Excited to receive these Birkenstocks, however, when I opened the box, it was evident that these had been worn. Foot/toe marks already imprinted onto the shoe. Disappointed, but no problem returning them. Maybe next time.

Cant make more holes in the ankle strap because it is not straight! It has an angle to it! Returned due to this

Really? Birkenstock thinks a woman's foot will fit a man's sandal? Searching for sandals for flat feet, arthritis, plantar fasciitis, etc. Very disappointed. Even purchased narrow and although heel fit ok the toe area was way too wide. I had a full 1.5 inches to the left of my big toe and felt like I was wearing clown shoes. Going down a size would make the shoe too short. These came highly recommended. Don't know why these companies insist on forcing women to wear men's stuff when the last is all wrong.

Great shoe if you are a duck. Very strange sizing on this shoe. Overall it fits too big both in length and width, and the toes are much wider than the heels. I tried two different sizes and widths. I am normally a size 9 regular. I tried the size 9-9.5 regular width and it was too big and way too wide. Then tried size 8-8.5 narrow and it was still too long, and the width was very strange. Too wide at the toes but too narrow at the heel. The toe flares out a lot. It's like it was made for duck feet. Other than the bizarre sizing, the arch support is great and it is a great quality shoe. I wish it could have worked for me. I ended up liking the Naot Kayla style better and it is a similar style.
