I have purchased this same pant for at least 5 years and always liked them. This batch is much smaller and tighter--I will have to return them all. Difficult to understand why they changed. Are they using a new pattern that is smaller and why? You could always go up a size but I'm sending them back.

I bought another pair of these exact same pants in a differ Color and the fit was perfect. This pair is a bit snugger and the length is a bit short. I was disappointed.

Size waaaay smaller than usual. I have a few pr of these pants, purchased maybe 2 yrs ago. LOVE THEM. So ordered another in same size, 12. These pants arrived, and to my great dismay, I could hardly get them over my hips. Cant even blame Covid wt gain b/c the old 12 still fit perfectly. The size was closer to an 8. No kidding - had to return. Very, very disappointed.

Run very small. The pants are great and I really enjoy the material but they are very tight in the waist. Make sure to buy a few sizes larger.

Ordered a size up like a lot of reviews said and it was still too small. Just overall weird sizing - why not make this one consistent? I'll probably reorder the next size up because I like the pants. Just frustrating.

These pants did not fit true to size I usually wear a size 6 and the 8's were too big.

Too low of a rise so the "waist" measurement is too small. I have slim hips & this cuts in. Also the long length doesn't seem as long as it should be

I ordered the convertible style in these same pants in 8 long and they fit perfectly. The long was long! Ordered these and the 8 long wasn’t even to my ankle. Maybe the tag got switched around and they were 8 regulars. I had to return.

I ordered these two sizes up (12) from my usual size (8) to accommodate leggings or bike shorts, if I needed to toss them on for a sudden change in weather during a hike or bike. When they got here, I unfortunately couldn't even get them past my thighs. I carry my weight in my hips and thighs, so this isn't entirely unexpected but I thought I'd be safe with ordering so much larger than I needed. The waistline didn't have a lot of stretch. We elected to not return, as it's over an hour to the nearest UPS store to print a labelI gave them to my neighbor who said they fit her like her size 6 pants do. I really wish these had fit, as the pants themselves are a solid product. The fabric was nice, and it repels water quite well. My neighbor wears them every outdoor weekend and loves them so much she got more after I shared the linkshe's gotten the 12 each time and they've fit the same, so I haven't ordered a replacement since I'm skeptical of sizing, even after using the chart.

Ugh. All of the hiking benefits of these pants were nullified by the super tight waistband. There is no give at all in the waist. The waistband of these size 12 pants are much tighter than another Columbia size 10 in my possession. Why would we want to hike in such uncomfortable pants?

Ordered a 2 short in the British Tan-fit great. So I ordered Grill and Black in the 2 Short. What Columbia- the pants were a size smaller in the waist! Kept the Grill bc I had removed the tags-will wear if I can drop a pant size. Returned the Black. So disappointed with the sizing discrepancy! Why? These pants - so comfortable great for work, walking the dogs, running errands, etc! Wish your sizing was consistent! (5 ft 0in; 105lbs)

The fabric and cut of the pants are great for hiking--but the waist is absurdly small and stiff. Waists in stretch pants need to be a stretch material! This waist has no stretch whatsoever, and it's cut much smaller than the rest of the pants. I gave them to my much tinier sister for hiking. For reference, I usually wear an M or 8 in pants (135 lbs, 5'6"). For hiking pants, I size up 1 size, so got a 10. They don't work. My sister wears a 4 or 6, and the 10 worked for her while hiking.

I purchased a size 10, for my wife (pants were just a little snug). So I reordered in a size 12, these were extremely tight...instead of fitting better, she could not even button them. So, returned the item.... will not be ordering on line again ( need to try the item on at a store, to avoid incurring the on-line return fee....when there is inconsistency in sizing)

When I first tried these pants on in the store I was so excited. It's difficult for me to find pants with my body shape (big thighs and booty, small waist) and these pants fit like a glove. However, in the year or so that I have owned these pants, they have stretched so much that I can't even wear them. Additionally, they are not the most durable, fine for hiking, as long as you're not sitting on rough surfaces. There are no pockets large enough to to hold a phone. And the loops to convert to capri are so long, they are also unusable.

These stretch trail pans run very small. I am a size 4 and the pants were uncomfortably tight in the crotch and rear. Although the fabric is lightweight and the roll up feature is good, the pockets are too small for sunglasses, a cellphone, and are not secured by a zipper. So, when I'm on the trail and don't want a backpack, I'd need to carry something for essentials. For this reason, I sent them back and found a better option with good size pockets for women elsewhere.

I have been wearing and loving this particular pant style for years and have 2 pairs of each in three colors. Thank goodness! Because when I just last week ordered fourth and fifth colors, they came with a totally changed fit. They are now cut "mid rise", instead of at the waist, which may be fine for you young girls who don't mind the flab hanging over but we over 65 like our comfortable at the waist pants. Also the thigh is now cut much larger than the straight leg of the past which makes them not as attractive for work and other occasions when I want a slim, light weight silhouette. Just plain baggy in my opinion, so I sent the two pairs back and will wear my 'original' slim hiking pants to death. Oh, and in the past a size 12 fit just right, not too big or too small...the way they are supposed to fit.

I did not like the fabric nor the fit of these pants. I was hoping for something that would travel well, but fabric was very thin and wrinkled easily. Also, did not fit right on me.

I love the capris in this same style (I have three pairs). Unfortunately the pants don't fit the same. They are extremely tight in the crotch (though they fit everywhere else) and therefore not the least bit comfortable. I'm disappointed. Returned them.

Super disappointed in these pants. I order a size larger than my normal size and these pants were SO tight! I would have had to order another 2 sizes larger to fit. Also, I ordered the long length which should have a 34" inseam and the pants hit my ankles. I am always a 34" inseam so overall these pants were not worth the purchase. They were very thin, definitely couldn't hike in colder weather in them.

For uncurvy folks only. Columbia has terrible sizing, I always forget until I try to wear their 2 sizes-off pieces. I'm usually a 14, and I can't even close the waistband on a 16. When they say "active fit", they mean they assume a curvy woman isn't active, I guess... Too bad I hike 500-700 mi/year because these pants would have been useful for that.

Quality control is lacking. I ordered these in the tall(Long)length because the website said the inseam would be 34.5 inches. The tan pair was only 33 inches and the green pair was only 34 inches. Also, they are rather short in the rise and would be uncomfortable. Both are being returned.
