I bought these pants as a cover-up over my bathing suit but ended up wearing them (as shorts) as board-shorts bathing suit when we went scallop diving. I love these so much, I am buying another pair.
I bought them larger than I wear to fit over my suit, so now I will buy my true size.

Great fit, good firm snap at the waist. No excess fabric so pants are light weight and easy to pack

I have bought several pair of these and really like their fit and comfort. They are warm in the cooler days and cool in the warmer days.

Finally found these pants in a 28" inseam that work. I geocache so these cover my legs when I'm out in the brush and tall grasses but, they are still cooler than Jeans. Love them.

These pants are awesome! I had to guess my size and was wrong the first time so I called the Zappos customer service number and was immediately emailed a return label and was shipped a smaller size.
The replacement pair fit great, and the return was hassle-free! Now I know my size and love the fit and feel of these pants. The material is stretchy, but not too stretchy and the perfect weight for hiking in Alaska in the summer.

I love these pants. I think they run a tad small, especially if you are doing a lot of stretching kind of things, so I bought the next size up. The design is well thought out, the style contemporary and the construction is very good.
The most wonderful thing about these pants is the incredible fabric they are made from. It's cool as can be, as I sit here in 114F heat. Perspiration evaporates immediately, and you look very neat and tidy.
I love the fabric so much, I bought the shorts (2 pairs) and the capris, too.

These pants are great, thank goodness for Columbia. They fit true to pant size, for me, and the leg is cut well. No extreme tapering like you see in some outdoor pants. No elastic in the waist which I like. Top is similar to jeans or slacks, with belt loops and no pleating. This is perfect. I wear them most often as shorts/zipped off. Good length, not an excessive amount of fabric. These pants as shorts look a world better than the other Columbia summer/outdoor shorts. If you are able to purchase the right length for you that is great also. The standard length is very long. I'm short at 5'4" and ordered the standard length for my first pair, often that is all that is in stock or offered. There is at least 6 inches extra. Second pair I ordered the short length and they are perfect. So glad to see the various length options! There is a little bit of stretch to these so they relax while you are wearing them. Not a full size though. Highly recommend! Hope to see some more colors someday.

I bought these pants for a trip, and couldn't be happier. It is hard to find plus size hiking pants that look nice and feel comfortable, but these were great. I ordered 3 different sizes because according to the size chart, I should have worn a bigger size. My normal size fit perfectly. Wish they came in other colors that are easier to match.

I was looking for a hiking pant that I could use when traveling. Something lightweight, comfortable, easy to wash and dry, water resistant etc. This pair is all that and extremely comfortable as well. The material and color have the added benefit of being nice enough to wear in a restaurant too.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
The material is softer and quieter than most nylon clothes. Front pockets are deep. Be careful with the back pockets - it would be easy to velcro them closed to the inner mesh lining instead of the outer lip of the pocket. I ordered a 16W (5'7", 210#), and the length was perfect for me, the waist and hips fit well on my curvy body. They'd be perfect EXCEPT that they get very tight in the lower thigh, where the zip-offs attach. If you've got skinny thighs compared to the rest of your body these will be awesome. For those of us who are plumper they do not work. I'm really sad about that!

These pants feel nice, the zippers are easy to use. But as with most plus size clothes they are shaped for apple folks, not pear folks. So I bought the recommended size for my hips (although I probably could have went the size smaller) and have like 8 extra in around my waist. I wish they had like a built in webbing belt, snaps, or internal belt system to adjust.

I bought several pairs of these. I like the gray color which goes with almost everything. As I noted in my review of a different color, the zippers tend to dig into my thighs when converted to shorts, but it is not that bad. Be careful of wrinkling after wear. They wash up great.

I have several pairs of these. They are comfortable and versatile. The zippers tend to dig in a bit into my thighs when converted to shorts, but it is not too bad. The pants will wrinkle during use but they wash beautifully. I wish they were not so expensive!

Very well made. I really like the pants. Sadly I returned the item. It seems every manufacturer makes this type of pant where if you need a large size, the pant leg itself is very wide. I'm also very short and it just doesn't look good on me. I wish someone would make one with a tapered leg.

These are a few things I liked about these pants. When I wanted to unzip the legs, there was elastic at the bottom so I could get them off over my hiking boots. Each unzipped leg was listed as left and right. That made it so much easier to recipes them. And best of all, I have plenty of room in the tummy area. So many womens hiking pants are too tight in that area.

They fit well, however win you sit down the zipper in the legs cuts into you. Makes them uncomfortable.

I bought these for hiking where the weather can warm up quite a bit. I know Columbia tends to run really small and I had to buy 2-3 sizes up. They were fairly comfortable and seemed durable. My main complain is the zipper for the legs - it was extremely tight on my legs compared to the rest of the pants. It was painful to bring my leg up to toe my boots.

I ordered two pairs of these pants for a late-September Yellowstone trip. I've never owned a good pair of hiking pants, it's always been leggings or sweats, so these are a huge upgrade. I'm 5'3", and the length is perfect (I ordered the "short" inseam). I also love the fact these can convert to shorts if needed and didn't find the zipper part to be constricting when crouching down like some of the other reviews mentioned. My only slight negative was that it felt kind of tight around the waist when first trying on, but after even just a few minutes of walking around, crouching down, etc. it felt like it was loosening a bit which was good. If you're between sizes, I might opt for the larger size on these.

I truly enjoyed and will continue to enjoy on the those warmer days on the slopes and through the wild & wonderful mountains of west virginia!
the reason for the AVERAGE on function is that in certain sitting situations the zipper connection can feel a little uncomfrontable around the thigh.
I have also unzipped into shorts for a layer on rainy days under my Wildside snow pants to keep me dryer and the result was great!
