I have worn a pair of these convertible pants for a couple of years and just ordered a second pair. They truly are stain resistant. I've worn them fly-fishing and hiking - they have been washed countless times - and they still look unstained. Last year I realized that they are my most comfortable casual pants and I now wear them around the house - for leisure and work - in place of yoga pants or jeans. I'm getting ready to buy a third pair. They fit right, stretch right, the pant legs zip on and off easily and they are just the right weight for summer fishing in the Rockies! Excellent product!

Like them, but miss the sweat band around the top of the pant.

Runs a bit large. I bought my size according to the chart, however, it fits very loose. Despite this detail, the fabric is fresh and dry-fast, an important feature for people working in the tropics like me

Get a size bigger. I am a regular size 6 fit, and these were a bit snug, especially at the knee! The material is super light and has super clever storage pockets and zipper. I'm so bummed it didn't fit right. The 8 is likely too big so I'll have to pass. I need it asap and don't have the time to try out the 8. Maybe I'll find it at a store and if it fits I'll be back.

This pant is great. But it can run little small. The waist is trie size. But the Legs, where the zipper. It is little small. So order bigger size. Then wear a belt.

I can't wait to get to test out the features of these in my Macchu Picchu trip in a few weeks! They fit really well, are true to size and seem pretty comfy. I bought a size 8 short and they are a little lengthy without shoes on, but once I have my hiking boots on they fit fine. I can't rate the features just yet, but they feel really well made.

I wore those for a week of camping and hiking and they are the most comfortable pants. They have a stretch to them that I found pleasing. The front pockets are large enough to store my phone, but occasionally it fell out when sitting. The drawstring around the cuff was handy when I didn't want to zip off the legs. I found the shorts to be a little too long for my style, but still I really liked these pants. AND when I spilt coffee I was amazed to find out the pants were water repellent, so NO STAIN and I could continue to wear! Happy Days!

I love these pants! Very comfortable to wear in traveling and walking around. The waist is a bit big and thigh is a little tight especially around the zippers.

These pants fit really well, but I did have two issues with them. The snaps at the waistband are so hard to unsnap that I've broken 3 nails trying to get them open. And, although I ordered "short" length, they would be short only on an Amazon Warrior. However, the fit through seat and thighs is excellent: lots of room, but not baggy.

True to size but the zipper around thighs are somewhat tight when sitting down. Pant does well in misting fog and rain. Also can wear/hike in these pants for 4 days and they still look good. Wish Columbia would make a hiking skirt with cargo pockets out of this material!

I agree with many of the comments: go a size larger, the thigh zippers (that create shorts from pants) are snug. The larger size helped address the thigh zipper issue without being overly loose in the hips. The lower price makes up for the fitting issues.

I love being able to use shorts or pants depending on the weather. These don't stain easily and the fabric is comfortable and cool. However, the first pair I got had zippers in the short section that were too small, and although the rest of the pants fit well, the zipper section didn't allow me to bend my legs. The second pair I got were made without this issue.

Good combo pant for travel. I found this tan color fits slightly closer than the green version; different fabric I guess. Why the men's versions of these clothes are typically less money is a mystery! The ability to zip off for shorts is handy when traveling, but I find the zipper just slightly annoying and won't use around town.

I'm hoping Columbia can change design slightly so that the zippers mid thigh aren't as snug. These pants would be perfect if they let that area out a bit to flow with the rest of the pant.

I'm 5'2" and it's extremely difficult to find convertible hiking pants that are a)actually short and b)not ridiculous looking (i.e. huge). These fit the bill. They are lightweight and comfortable. Slim legs without dumb pockets. There's a weird adjustable drawstring on the bottom of the legs that I didn't like at first... until I realized it was the perfect hemming solution. Bottom line: They're a bit too long but the drawstring thingie fixed that problem. The waist is perfect. I usually wear a 2 or 4 short and both fit fine. I have the 4, but probably could've gotten the 2. I do a ton of backcountry hiking/camping so we'll see how they hold up.

These pants are great. I'm 5'1" and the short fits just perfectly on me. I bought small, I'm 120 lbs. The material is light weight and comfortable. The only problem is the zippers for the conversion to shorts. When walking or standing you don't notice, but as soon as you sit down or crouch low it's very constricting. The zippers don't stretch at all so they squeeze my lower thighs pretty tightly. Not enough to loose circulation, but enough to be uncomfortable. My thighs standing are 14.5 inches and when crouching 17.5 inches. Also, the pants don't stand up well against thorns, they will get stuck and may even pull. That, however, is expected because it isn't a very thick fabric. So if you're thinking about buying these pants consider if you will mainly be walking or crouching.

Customer care said the circumference of the leg at the shorts zipper is 18" for 6 long and 18-1/2" for 8L. True, but both regular & long versions of this pant have the same 10" shorts inseam. In other words they are not proportionately longer in the shorts inseam as they should be for people with longer bones. This is why the zipper is reported as TIGHT even for a woman with a tall lean build. My thigh measures 17" around at the zipper. Its ok standing but snug when I sit down and the legs pull up. I am 5'8" & take a 33/34" inseam (pant) & the 6 long in the Sat trail pant fits perfectly! This convertible pant would fit more women if the shorts inseam was 1.5 to 2 inches longer in the tall/LONG sizes. Shorts and convertibles need to be proportionately longer in the thigh and lower leg! Otherwise this is a great style in a great fabric. Columbia, I hope this review helps you to design a better product for us forgotten talls.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
I really like these pants but I'm afraid they're going back. First and foremost convertible pants need to be functional and the Saturday Trail does everything right except for one feature, here are my pros and cons after trying many styles: Pro: Fit well overall, leg not too wide, zipper pull is on the outside of the thigh (Prana's Sage puts it on the inside which can be a problem with rubbing), and most importantly they come in lengths (I'm 5'4" and all regular length pants would require hemming). Con: It's nice that the leg is slimmer, but to do that Columbia needed to include a zippered or velcroed slit at the bottom to permit easy on and off without having to remove boots. Because the material is a little stretchy, I was able to barely get them over my low hiking boots, but it was difficult and not something I want to do on the trail when my boots are dirty.

As a 5'10" woman I am lacking in options when it comes to pants that are long enough. These fit well and I am certain the material will perform. The zips certainly seem very functional. So I've kept them. However yet again a Columbia product is cheapened by the use of Velcro - this time on the rear pockets. Those pockets would have been fine just as flaps, or you could have used snaps or magnets. But the small Velcro strips instead sound cheap and nasty and are actually so small they don't always meet correctly which leaves the pocket flap ruffled. Velcro never survives multiple washings either. As a final comment it would be nice if manufacturers remembered that women (not just men) also like functional pockets. Please design in some pockets that actually hold more than a credit card or a key. Good design would let this be done without ruining the overall line of the garment.

Thought these pants were really flattering. They are slimmer in the thigh and straight in the leg. I think they'd work well on an hourglass figure, although I did find that the pant felt a little tight on the thighs - I recommend you try climbing some stairs when you try these on to emulate climbing rocks - because the tightness was felt more when I lifted my leg up. I almost loved these, but I went with a similar pant by Outdoor Research because this pant didn't have a drawstring. To me, having convertible pants with a drawstring is really helpful to fill in that belt gap you may encounter when sitting or squatting. Secondly, the drawstring can adjust for minor weight fluctuations. If you lose or gain and inch, the drawstring can help fill in the gap.

Love the fit and feel of these pants. They run a bit small and long so just adjust what you normally order. Well worth the purchase. I bought two pairs.

I read the numerous reviews about these pants before I bought them. Most of them said the zipper rubs again the thighs during walking and climbing. I went ahead and bought them because I needed some convertible pants for a hiking excursion in Utah Canyons. I bought the black because I felt they would go with everything. I love them, they are light weight, very comfortable and although I did feel the zipper rubbing again my thighs it was not uncomfortable. This is why I gave them only 4 stars. I have worn them on hikes where it rained and snowed and they are water repellant. I would highly recommend them!
