Felt half a size to big in the foot. Not a good idea if you drive a manual transmission, kept getting my clutch boot caught on the seat when I needed to change gears. Returning and will try the shorter boot.

I wish these came in 1/2 sizes. I take a 6 1/2 so had to order a 7. They were much to big. They felt more like a 7 1/2. Sadly they had to go back. I doubt a 5 will fit.

I was SO excited about these boots! Upon getting them, I loved the color and quality but just like other reviews here, they did not fit my calves at all! Unless you're incredibly small, these probably won't work for you. Going to order the short Hunter boots next time.

I really wanted to love these. I wear an 8 but ordered the 7 as recommended. They were fine to wear but when I tried to take them off, my foot nearly got stuck. It hurt my foot really bad to take them off. And the boot wasn't too tight when I had it on. So I had to return it.

Finally broke down and ordered these lovely boots, however...the size 7 was too small. I have always heard to size down when it comes to these boots but they were just a little too snug especially with the cable knit fleece socks. I also did not care for the adjustable back especially with the fleece socks. The cuff part of the sock does not cover the whole adjustable area so it just looks a little odd. Returning these and trying an 8 in the original style in gloss black! I really want the gloss red too!

I love these boots, but alas my wide calves demanded a return. The boots are lovely, but the adjustable extension does not start low enough for a short person like me (5'3"). I was disappointed to send them back.

Runs large and a little more clunky that I expected. For the price I thought there would be more to them.

I have 16" circumference calves and I thought these boots would fit me based on other reviews and the description. They did not fit. The problem is that my calves are widest at the middle of my lower leg, and the boot is widest at the top (where I don't need it to be wide). The gusset and adjustable buckle are at the top of the boot, so I was not able to widen the boot in the place that I needed it - about 2/3 the way up the height of the boot. Also, the rubber pressed in at my ankle.

Wanted these boots for a long time. They are very very cute on others but just not what I expected. Love them on others still...just not for me.

These boots are too big all around - in a half size less than my usual I am swimming in them.

The buckle is extremely difficult to work on both boots.

My calf would fit in these boots but I felt like the adjustable buckle on the back just took away from the overall look. The boot material also sagged at the ankles leaving a ripple effect.

Uncomfortable. Very stylish, but impossible to walk in.

Style wise pretty much what I expected but I absolutely CAN NOTkeep these Hunter Boots. The height of the boot hits just so in my car that I can not switch between gas and break without catching the boot on the edge of my seat. YIKES! These boots could kill me -- or someone else. They absolutely have to go back. On a much lesser note the adjustable strap is very difficult to work especially after the boot is on the foot and of course, you want the extra room to get your foot into the boot first and then tighten up. Really don't know why everyone seems to love these so much there has to be a better boot out there.

Had to return it, could not walk down the stairs in it. Too stiff.

I felt these boots were much too heavy for this 77 year old to wear. They are attractive boots but difficult to put on and get off.

I am 5'3. The boot was huge on me. I may look into a kid's size. The boot came over my knee slightly and was bulky.

These fit very strange on me. I have a wide calf (18) and these were loose enough at the top but were strangely huge around the ankle. That is a complaint I did read about before ordering but decided I would still order and hopefully they would fit differently on me. They were also tight on the lower portion of my calf. Very odd. They looked very sloppy. I hope Hunter researches wide calf women to find out how the leg is actually shaped. The ankle portion definitely needs help!

Don’t waste your money on Hunter boots! Cute shoe with very poor functionality. I have had three pairs now (love the look) but they all crack somewhere and leak within a year. Also, the buckles break off.

The color is much darker brown than shown in the picture. For someone who is petite with slim calves, these are huge even with the adjustment. Large space around ankles gives unflattering, ugly appearance. Finally, these are very uncomfortable and heavy compared to Hunter original tour. I am very disappointed and sending them right back.

Listen, I've lost 120 pounds and one of my major motivators was to be able to wear Hunter boots. I'm a size 12, 5'9 with 16.5 calves. There are no Hunter boots that will fit me. I really thought these were going to be the ones based on reviews and they still didn't fit. They came closer than any other pair but still bunched around the ankle after I pulled them up as much as I could. Like, Hunter, I'll buy every boot you make if you could please cater to people with normal bodies. On another note, Zappos customer service is always the absolute best.

Okay …. trying to find Rain boots for wide-calfs is like standing in a rainstorm with no umbrella! I tried and wanted to like the Hunter Original Back Adjustable, but I could not get beyond they way they made my calfs look like I was wearing maternity boots! (I am 5'8 and weigh 150 pounds. I am athletic, so I need the wide calf boots.) In preparing to return the Hunters, I came upon and ordered the Ilse Jacobsen Rub 1 boots. I am so glad I did! They are awesome and do not look like everyone else's rain boots. The boots are a bit edgy with a Dr. Marten-ish sole, but the boots tie all the way up the front, so no matter your calf size, they look like 'normal' boots. I think the boots could also have a traditional 'field boot' look, so they are versatile. Amazon actually has the boots in 14 colors - so much fun! If you are frustrated with the wide-calf rain boot options, give the Ilse Jacobson Rub 1 boots a try, you will be glad you did!
