I use the bag for work, carrying my 12" laptop, a notebook and manuscripts. Enjoy the size of the bag - it is very slim and easy to carry day in, day out. Just wish the computer sleeve had some padding.

The only thing that I think its lacking is a bit more protection for the laptop sleeve. everything else about it is top notch.

The backpack is more modest than the commercials depict it, but overall is a solid backpack. It's only been used for the last two weeks, so time will tell about other properties.
It is stylish though, and so far it was great in the rain.

Its a very nice bag, stylish, practical. The only disadvantage, but a bit crucial, is a very low protection for the laptop. iI use it, enjoy it, but with an inner padding i put and still dont feel quite safe.

I use this primarily for school. I have the Camelbak Linchpin, a couple of Pacsafe bags both have tons of pockets, and compartments but no place for laptops. It's kind of hard to move about in my daily commute specially Light rail rides can get cramped. This bag is perfect! well almost.. Primary concern was my laptop, fits snugly, another plus is a compartment for tablets. There are two external pockets that can hold your wallet, pens, and what nots. and that is it. Maybe adding a weather proof lining to protect the laptop would be nice, and maybe some more pockets? Would've been a 5 star if not for the zipper. It doesn't zip up with one pull, sometimes you have to do with twice. Zipper is not the smoothest. I have a couple of pacsafe bags which are my favorite.. this definitely comes in second.

Straps are super comfortable, and it's easy to fold the dangly parts up and away. Bag holds a LOT of stuff, good for weekend travel in cooler weather.
It's just on the verge of too big to carry comfortably in fancier places. Zippers feel wimpy, and we'll see how long they last. No reinforced bottom. Back panel is insulated with foam and gets pretty hot when biking with the bag on a warm day. I've sewn in a couple extra pockets and a loop for attaching my keys.

I've used it a week as my primary briefcase/laptop bags. Holds my 15" MacBook Pro and a few files with ease. It was a little smaller than I expected but it holds more than you'd think. Straps could use a little more padding but otherwise so far so good.

This is actually a very nice little backpack which i use for both work and play. I like the way it looks and it doesn't make me look like a 6th grader. It helps that it's colored dusk blue and black.
Let me get to the cons first. What i absolutely loved about Timbuk2 when i first started purchasing their products were their ample smaller pockets/compartments for things like my wallet, pens, calculators, phones, business cards, etc. Not only was it nice to have all those pockets; it was nice that they were deep enough so that their contents didn't fall out. The pockets in the compartment behind the front panel could extend to the base of the backpack and it would be nice to have a zipper in the larger pocket. The pocket for the computer could be a little more padded to protect my computer. The back panel could also use a little more padding. I also feel that the zippers used on this backpack don't glide as well as the old zippers on my old T2 bags/backpacks. Lastly, i'm not sure if it's to cut costs or to lessen the weight of the product or both, but i feel the nylon material used to make the backpack feels more flimsy that my older bags.
Now the pros . . . i love the accessibility of the pockets on the front panel and they are quite roomy. I can put a bunch of stuff like my phone, my charger, my keys, granola bars and a bunch of other stuff in the bottom pocket with room to spare. Same with the upper pocket. It's also very nice that the zippers for both the main compartments are placed on the top. I can fully unzip the zipper and i don't have to worry about things on the bottom of the compartment behind the front panel falling out. I found that problem with the Timbuk2 Q (i still do love that old backpack, though). It's got a lot of room for my computer's power cord which is a plus. As far as the main compartment is concerned, i wouldn't put my textbooks in there, but I can put my 1-inch three ring binder, scores of music, sketchbook, pencil box, an extra t-shirt, a pair of shorts and a lumberjack flannel long-sleeved shirt. One of my favorite things about this backpack is the pocket for a water bottle which is an absolutely a perfect fit for my 18 oz. water canteen.
I've had this backpack for over a month, and i really like it. One of these days i'll find use for the cool bottle opener that's attached to the strap. :)

Using primary as a work bag, to replace an old and wearing out Timbuk2 laptop messenger bag. I carry a Dell laptop (~13.25"x9"x0.75"), power cord, wireless mouse, iPad Mini and a few small note books every day. Additional items sometimes include a text book or a packable Columbia rain coat, and a water bottle. With my base load, I have actually thought a couple times that I must have for forgotten my laptop because the bag felt too light on back. With the textbook, I can tell the difference, but it's still not bothersome. I went for the backpack style over the messenger bag for the first time in over 15 years; I must be getting old because even with the padding on the laptop messenger, the shoulder strap on the messenger was bothering me. The pocket inside the middle zipper compartment fits my iPad Mini perfectly. The only drawbacks and things that I wish it had are a few more small pouches for things like keys, pens and business cards. But for the price, its almost expected that a few things that are on higher end bags would not be included.

Not much to say, it's a backpack. I carry my laptop in it. I might love it in a few years. Probably not, I don't love things.

I have spent years searching for a laptop bag that I could use regularly without aggravating my lower back. I am unable to carry a lot of weight for long distances, and so a traditional laptop bag with a handle and shoulder strap does not work for me. Until now I have struggled to find a reasonably priced backpack-style bag that wasn't overly masculine, too large for my frame, or wasn't already heavy without adding my laptop and other personal items. The pricing on this bag was reasonable, it came in feminine styles, and it is amazingly lightweight even when I add all of my work equipment. I am so thankful I finally tried Timbuk2!

This is a beautiful backpack that the rest of your outfit can dress up or down, so that it looks appropriately formal on business dress days and appropriately casual on dress down days. It holds more than you would think it would given how thin it is, because it isn't short. I've been surprised by how much more *comfortable* it is than my previous backpack (a Jansport, I think). I can't figure out what makes it so comfortable--maybe, again, the shape?
I would prefer if the laptop sleeve inside the bag had been padded on both sides, not just the outside. And imho you can never have too many pockets, so I would prefer if the smaller compartment contained a lot more compartments. That said, I've just loaded things into smaller lightweight bags and thrown them inside it--again, there's plenty of room.

This is a fantastic backpack if you're looking for something stylish and streamlined for around town, school, or work. It's got internal organization that feels like just enough without making the entire inner lining out of pockets, and the laptop sleeve is a snug fit for my huge 15.6'' acer brick.
One of the things that I kinda expected from this bag was that it would have enough integrated structure to stand on its own when filled with few or no items. The video certainly made it seem this way, but when I got the bag it was clear that it was made of too thin a material to do so.
This did, however, end up being a positive thing, as the bag is virtually weightless and compresses itself to as slim a shape as possible when not entirely full. Besides, there is rarely a time when I have to put my bag down and I'm not in a chair or near a wall which I can lean the bag against. It also holds a lot more than expected, as the thin material means that there are no rigid angles to prevent objects from moving about, thus allowing everything to sort of jostle itself into place. As anecdotal evidence, I fit the entire contents of my old 22L messenger into this pack and inserted an extra textbook, and it was just over half full. For comparison, this bag is advertised at 25L.
In conclusion, this is a fantastic bag for everyday use that looks good and carries more than it will show. If you want something with structure and rigidity, look into an incase ICON or something similar, but if not this pack is the way to go.

Overall this is a really functional Backpack. I am a petite woman and this backpack is the prefect size for me. I only have two issues with this Backpack: First, it does not have enough inside pockets. Second, I wish that the inside pockets had zippers.

I'm a petite slim female so wanted a laptop backpack that would not look too bulky on me, and also fit well into a casual professional setting. This bag delivered on all of that, while offering nice pockets for organizing my stuff. The one main con I've found so far is that the "laptop compartment" is a bit of a joke - there's no padding whatsoever, just a nylon slip pocket with an elastic edge. I mention the elastic because unfortunately that results in the pocket stretching with the weight of the laptop against it, so when walking I can feel my laptop (13" MacBook Pro) bouncing around in it! I mitigated this by stuffing a neoprene laptop sleeve in there to minimize the jostling, but I do wish there was a more robust laptop pocket that was built into the bag - particularly since it was advertised as a laptop compartment. It works for light commuting but wouldn't recommend it if you need to walk long distances or intense travel.

It's the perfect size for me and good amount of pockets, but no padding on the bottom to protect my LAPTOP! I got it on sale, so it's a final sale. I'll have to live with it.

The construction and storage layout are excellent. It's just too small to be functional for me. A laptop, two inch binder, power cord and headphones stretch the limits.

I love this bag for everyday use except the fabric gets soiled and marks easily making it look bad. A different fabric may be better.

I bought this after my other timbuk2 bag was stolen. This turned out smaller than I thought and now I have buyer's regret, but it's functional and stylish, so I'll keep it for now. I still like the timbik2 brand and would buy from them again, but if you're looking for something that fits more, then I'd go with the Uptown.
