I almost always buy my husband Brooks athletic shoes. In fact it is the only brand that offers a feature that helps moderate to severe over-pronator, & this feature helps my husband. I have always ordered extra wide (4E) for him, & on this purchase I even got him a half-size bigger, from 10.5 to 11. Just FYI to the manufacturer of Brooks, my husband says 4E or extra wide is still snug. In the past, he was advised to get half size or a whole size bigger, which I did in this purchase. Now he is saying he'll get size 12 or 13 next time. Will getting 1 or 2 sizes bigger make a difference in the width of the shoes? Brooks maker, kindly advise, please. Hope to hear from you. Very good shoe, feels tighter than previous purchase from two years ago

Meaty well constructed shoe. Tons of strips of material and multicolored plastic that do nothing for function. There are great vents throughout. I like the slightly elastic shoelaces but will they last?

great looking shoe and fairly comfortable but NARROW and runs small! For the money I was disappointed.

This was my first pair of Brooks shoes. I used them with a custom insert, and found them to be a quality, comfortable pair of shoes. I can't speak to the long term quality issues have addressed, these wore out after about a year.

Ordered 8.5 D. I normally wear 8 W. I had this brand of tennis shoe previously and this is the size that works. Just a bit tight but once I started walking in them, they loosened up.

This was the first athletic shoe I've purchased in over 8 years. I had 2 pair of Beast previously and they served me well, so I ordered the newest generation. I found the fit to be the same as my old (2008) pair so did not experience the downsizing mentioned by others. And you might imagine how much springier they felt after the old pair. The biggest downside for me is the way Brooks is attaching the tongue: it is stitched so that you cannot fully open the shoe, and with my high arch I can't slip into them. A shoehorn becomes a necessity. And they're more difficult to remove. Hopefully they'll prove to be as durable as the old pairs.

Pretty well put together shoe. Very over priced, but they all are. Runs a touch narrow. 4E appears to be about a 2E. Not a deal breaker. I've only used them once so far but the support is good and, in general, they're a comfortable shoe.

Slightly more snug than I anticipated. But the support is amazing and I'm sure they will "break in" once I run more in them.

I've been a big fan of Brooks and the comfort/arch support you get with their shoes. This shoe, for me, has excellent arch support and overall foot comfort. I am disappointed at the upper foot fit. It feels very tight and makes it to where I don't want to wear these for long periods of time. This isn't something that should keep you from trying these, but keep this in mind. You may want to go with a half size larger. Who knows, this may not be the case for you. Still a great shoe!

I like these shoes. They are comfortable and provide lots of support. This pair was a replacement for the Brooks Beast 12 I ordered a couple years ago. Unfortunately, the newer version in white/blue seems to scuff and deteriorate more quickly than the previous pair. I may get a little less mileage out of this pair. I would still recommend them, but in a darker color where the scuffs are more difficult to see.

This shoe is great. My 13 year old son had foot surgery and has a huge orthotic he needs to wear daily. Not only does this shoe come in the double wide we needed, but has stability to it. The only bad thing is the tongue is sewn in. So, if you wear an orthotic, you know the tongue needs to be able to be freed to get ortho in. We cut the sides of the tongue so it was able to be pulled out. This shoe is comfortable for him and slips on easily once the tongue is cut.

I love the Beast. They have fit my foot perfectly in the past. I'm a 12 EEEE in this shoe, however this version is noticeably narrower than ones I Have had in the past. I had to return them and search elsewhere.

This is my sixth pair of Beast tennis. Love them. In the past I ordered 9EE, but the latest pair was not as wide as the previous, so I re-ordered 9-4E and they fit much better. I have very high arches and the fit and comfort is extremely important and the Brooks Beast has served me well.

I have been buying Brooks Beast for six years. I am not a runner but I enjoy the good support they give my medium wide 13 feet. All sport shoes break down and the Beast is no exception. These shoes are not designed for any true athletic activity but for everyday use these shoes fill the bill. Their construction is rugged and stands up to moderate abuse. I try to push replacement to about two years. Of course, I come from a low-top canvas Converse generation so I am thinking price and lasting power. Overall these are good everyday casual shoes but a little on the expensive side (see above).

I have worn size 13 2e width running shoes for quite a while. My first Beasts were a bit narrow so I had to wear thinnest socks. This time I ordered 13 4e and I am finding the fit just about right.

Nice shoe, but the new version definitely runs smaller and narrower than previous ones. I wore a size 15 medium, and had to return and get a 16. I would have gotten a wider version if it were available in size 16. Zappos' next-day shipping and return were wonderful, of course.

The "Beast" is a good all around shoe. I use them for gym time and a bit of walking around. They are very sturdy.

I love these shoes. I still use a Powerstep insert for arch support, but otherwise, I love them.

I'm not much for writing reviews so I will try and keep this short. I am a bigger guy obviously and finding wide enough and comfortable enough shoes is a real pain. I was reluctant to put so much money on a pair of shoes. But these shoes were worth it. Extreme comfort, and they breath very well. I just hope they last.

The Brooks beast is still the one of the best shoes if you have problem foot issues and need motion control, it is better than Mizuno wave rider which is merely a stability shoe and identified as a motion control shoe. This shoe in my opinion breaths a little better than the '12 beast but the trade off is not quite as much cushioning The '12 beast is the better of these shoes.

I have a very low arch, and have tried several shoe brands. By far, this is the best shoe I have ever owned. This is my 4th pair.

Shoe not true to size per Brooks fit chart. 3rd return and thank you Zappos for your prompt and generous return policy. i was hoping 4th time would have been the charm. My feet hurt. LOL thank you, AZRN

I loved these shoes, except for the left shoe feels like I have a rolled up sock in the arch, I have to return them. I'm completely flat footed, and over pronate, I have had a Triple fusion, plus both feet are full of arthritis, and I'm still in search of the perfect shoe that doesn't hurt.

This is my fifth pair in a row of the Beast in the past two years. I found all aspects of this pair to be equal to the others except for the width. While abiding by Zappos' return policy on wear, I wore the shoes and walked around the house as much as I could. Everything was normal but the foot changes throughout the day and on different surfaces, so once I got a fuller range of use I could tell that they seem a bit snug on both sides. It may be just going from a fully worn in shoe to a new one but I distinctly remember perfection in my other four pairs for at least three solid months after receiving them. I do not have arch problems so that was fine for me.
