Style-wise these were exactky what I was looking for. Wide calf— is very wide. If you are on the border, order the regular boots. I generally need wide calf. Not in these. I returned them for the regular. Thanks to Zappos fast shipping and free returns.

My calf is 16”. These were quite wide in the shaft. They had the Puss in Boots look at the top. I was surprised at how much room I had in the shaft. The foot wide width felt comfortable.

Ordered these for my niece in wide calf and they were much too large in the girth. She has a 16” calf and can’t fit into any of the regular size calf boots she’s tried. When I got 16” girth boots for her in Born, they were too small. My sister has same large calves and has had a very difficult time finding the right fit also. Otherwise, my niece loved the style and comfort,

I am hoping the 9 fits because these are beautiful boots. I have large calves and I can zip them easily over my jeans. But they are slightly too narrow in the toe.

The Sam Edelman brand runs small and narrow. I have a few pair of shoes from them and it's the same from sandals to sneaker flats and now these boots. I am a solid 9B across the board. I ordered these in a 9.5 wide and they fit perfectly. The leather is beautiful, soft and supple. And they are leather, so even if they're a little tight around the calf, they will stretch a bit. They feel very sturdy on, so you can tell they're well made. These are easy to dress up with a dress and tights, or dress down with distressed skinnies and a button down with a scarf. Work, church or watering hole, they go everywhere. I'm in love. Just remember to apply leather protectant before wearing and they'll last you a long time.

I really like these boots. I was having a heck of a time finding boots for my calves. Regular calf wasn’t working but wide calves were ridiculously wide. These are a smidge wide but my daughter assured me they were stylin’ and didn’t appear too wide or floppy. The only complaint I have is that the snap over the top of the zipper in the back comes undone when I uncross my legs. I can live with that. The color is gorgeous and just what I was looking for!

Pros: First, and most importantly, these fit my 16" calves comfortably. I wish they didn't gap so much at the top but I can live with it. Second, very nice quality leather. Firm, buttery smooth. Third, aesthetically beautiful. I love the asymmetrical profile of slightly higher at the front of the knee and shorter at the back of the knee. I've never owned boots with a back zip so that was a concern but I've had no problem zipping them up or down. Cons: First, I agree with previous reviewers these definitely run narrow in width as well as narrow in the ankle. I specifically ordered wide width and a half size up and still had to have the foot stretched to be comfortable. Second, the footbed is stiff and rigid with virtually no cushioning. Third, the gapping at the top of the boot by the knee is quite substantial. I'm a ballet dancer and find it frustrating that boot designers repeatedly fail to construct boots to the largest part of the calf being just above the middle--not at the the top of the boot. That said, the cons were manageable with stretching and inserting inexpensive foam insoles. You can stretch the width of the foot but you can't stretch the ankle, so if you measure larger around the ankles these will not work for you.

These boots are narrow in the foot area. Did not realize they were athletic cut as maybe that has something to do with it. I really liked them otherwise and wish they had fit

Cute boot, but the wide width is definitely not comparable to usual wide width shoes. Much too narrow, so I returned.

I require a wider width because of a bunion and this boot, even in a wide width was a hair too narrow. I also have a large calf. The wide calf on these boots wasn't wide enough. My calf measures 18", the description has these boots as 18".

I love love love these boots. I have athletic calves that just don't fit in normal boots, but these fit perfectly. My feet are on the wider side and the boots squeezed my foot a little more than I'd like in the middle when wearing thick, warmer socks, but they've stretched out over time. The bottom is not slick, either, which helps with icy sidewalks in winter. They're well made and look great!

These boots fit my calfs pretty well. I probably would have kept these boots if I liked the color better. I wish the wide calf version came in a better color selection, as the normal version has some colors I do like. The black was just too shiny for my liking. Also the foot of the boots wasn't very comfortable or cushioned but this could be fixed with some insoles. For the price though, this seems like a good boot.

These boots are very good looking, the leather is soft and beautiful but the footbed was NOT wide! I wish it were because then I'd keep them! The upper boot fit my large calfs very well.

These run incredibly narrow. I ordered my standard size (7), but in wide. After two wears, it's easier to get my foot in them. I have them in tan, so I know they will stretch out.

I love them - and was sure I was going to need the wide calf, because I usually do - but the calf was just too large. Even with jeans tucked in I could get my whole hand in there, so I looked like a cartoon. Have to return them and have ordered the regular ones - here's hoping.

bought these for my granddaughter - nice boots, fit around the calf but too narrow in the toe and seemed about half size too long, had to return

LOVE these boots! The darkness on the front and tapering color are SUPER stylish. They are also very comfortable to wear all day and walk in. LOVE LOVE LOVE! Highly recommend.

These are great boots the leather is very soft and supple. I have large calfs and they were slightly tight in the top of the calf at first but they stretched out over the first two times I wore them and now they're perfect! I've had them for two years and they've maintained their shape great. I can wear them all day without any discomfort! Totally worth the price!!

Walking the hills of San Francisco has really increased the size of my calves. These boots accommodate my ample calf, and they look bad ass too! Wish the leather was a tad thicker, and stiffer...but otherwise great.

the leather feels great to the touch. A very soft boot and the heel height comfortable. the fit was not right. I usually wear an 8.5 W so that's what I ordered. It was very tight in the foot. Only the length and heel fit right. I have to return, but wish it had fit better.

Really great a little bit richer blonde tone. Lovely soft leather. They look like a cross between riding boots and cowboy boots. They look wonderful from either side. I'm not super in love with how they look from the front or back because the outside being higher than the instep side looks a little pirate-y - but maybe that's what you love?! It could also be that they stick out on me because they are too wide. I originally bought the regular calf and I could zip it but I was afraid I would not be able to wear them with jeans or even leggings that's how close it was. I can't remember if the regular width flared like that on me because I returned them and got the wide-calf (thanks, Zappos customer service for making that process totally painless). I love the full length zipper and the snap at the top - but one of them pops open throughout the day a bit. The width of the shoe is quite close for a wide. I can sometimes get away with a regular width shoe but there is no way I could do that with these. So if you are not sure if you need a wide - you probably do but if you have narrow feet the M width might be fine. The length seems true to size.

I've been looking for a tall black riding boot for a long time. I have 15 1/2 inch calves (yes, I measured) and I could never get cute tall boots to zip up. These did! They don't look like "wide calf" boots either! I can wear either leggings with boot socks, or skinny jeans and the boots zip up easy with just enough room! The leather is super soft, but not slouchy. I kinda feel like they make my feet look a little bigger than they are, but I think it's just the toe shape. The first time wearing them, they were a little snug in the foot area, but I do have wide feet. The boots stretched out a bit to fit my foot within a few hours. I wear them all the time now with no problem! The zipper up the back is very discreet and the asymmetrical boot shaft gives it a trendy look. Over all this is a really nice boot! So glad I purchased these!

I love these boots!! They are very comfortable! They button on the back and it does tend to be sensitive and pop open more often than I'd like but I'll deal with it because I love them that much! I have a wider foot but can usually get away with normal width shoes...something told me to order these wide width and I'm so thankful I did because even the wide width on these just fit (I don't think I would've been able to wear the normal width).

These shoes feel well made and the leather is super soft. I would say I have average calves but these were very wide and looked sloppy so i'll be returning them. The shoe was also very narrow though might be more comfortable after breaking in.
