The fit was OK. They are definitely not the most comfortable boot I own. However, they will serve well with jeans. I almost returned them because the back zipper is problematic. It comes all the way to the base of the heel, and it is a little awkward to zip these up. I have some concern that the zipper will break in the not too distant future. But, as I needed this type of boot to replace some fabulous Born boots I had worn for years, I decided to keep these and take my chances. I just wish I could still find the Born boots I had before.

Pretty happy with this boot. I was a little nervous since these boots are labled as wide calf. And we all know that's not always the case. But to my surprise they zipped right up! I do have a pretty wide calf. Both legs are each 18 inches all around. And the leather is so buttery soft!! No ugly elastic on the back of this boot.Glad I read many of these reviews and purchased a half size larger then my normal size and also in wide width. I'm usually a true size 9 with normal width. Also I was hoping they would be the same color as pictured but instead they're two shades lighter. Regardless I'll be keeping them since it's so hard for me to find boots. Plus they're pretty comfortable and I do love the shape of the boot!

Overall, I really like these boots. I’m a teacher, so I’m on my feet all day (up to 12,000 steps daily), and after wearing these boots several times to work, I can safely say they are extremely comfortable. Also, riding boots usually look ridiculous on me because I’m so short (5’0), but these are the perfect height. My only complaint is that I wish they didn’t have the snap in the back. It makes them harder to get on and off and it pops open throughout the day, which is a minor but annoying inconvenience. Also, I’m not sure who thought it was a smart idea to put a large sticker on the bottom of each boot, but they refuse to come off, even with Goo Gone—super annoying, but again, not a dealbreaker. Otherwise, these are totally worth the splurge and I can see them lasting me many years to come.

Nice style, but the wide calf was actually a bit too wide!

I was VERY glad I took note of the prior reviews suggesting that this boot was very narrow even in the medium width and am happy I ordered a wide width. It was roomier in the toe box which otherwise may have squished my toes. The wide calf is still snug, although I can fit thin pants inside it, but I purchased leather boots because I know they will give/mold slightly. The elastic gore on the inside of the leg is a nice feature. I would say they have moderate arch support AT BEST but certainly no more than that. I like the lean line of these boots especially having a wide calf -- extra details just bring more attention to that area than I would want. Unlike other reviews, I did not feel that the leather was unduly thin - thought it was very appropriate for the style of the boot. That being said, do not expect these boots to keep you warm without warm socks inside! Overall I am very happy with these boots!

Soft leather material, true to size. Great looking boot

These are exactly what I needed in terms of calf width. They felt narrow in the foot originally (i usually get M or standard width), but they "opened up" after about 30 minutes of wear. Great buy for a simple riding boot.

I have a wide calf 21 inches ( I am not a fat person just have Beautiful large legs )I was able to zip it up but very tight so I took it to the Shoe hospital and they added some elastic. It’s fits perfect now the shoe size run true to size the leather is super nice I will give it a four-star because of the calf but other than that it’s a beautiful boot and I love love love it try to order it in brown but they didn’t have my size waiting for

I have wide calves but I felt like this was a little wider than expected. Would be great with thicker jeans and socks.

I wear a wide because of a bunion. This was close but not quite right. I was not keen on the style. Although the calf fit my (wide) calf well, the top still projected up and out and made it look a bit like a fireman's boot. Also back zipper was odd on one boot. I could feel it in the heel.

These wide calf boots fit my 16.5" athletic calves but were too wide at the tops. Lovely boot though.

If you have very wide calves, these will be great for you, but unfortunately the shaft was far too wide for me (probably 2" too wide). I agree with reviewers who say the circumference for these are at least 17" wide (I wear a size 7). Maybe even 18" around. I have exclusively bought wide calf boots for the past several years, and I haven't lost any weight, so I think these are just wider than most. That said, these boots are really cute and I really like the style so I am going to try to the regular Penny boot and hope that it, too, has a wider than regular shaft that will fit me!

Oh, I’m so sad. These boots are beautiful- well made, good quality leather, but I have calves that are around 17” and I was hoping against hope these would work. I couldn’t zip them past the ankle and that was bare-legged. So the search continues. If you have slightly wider calves, go for it because they are gorgeous and I envy you! But if your calves are as big as mine, you’re going to be disappointed.

Definitely runs small and they take liberties with “wide” calf. Not wide.

Followed the feedback from other buyers. Gained weight. Ordered the wide, used to take M. Ordered the normal size 8. Bought these because of the wide calf. Put on with medium thick socks. Too big. Changed to thinner socks, Initially felt tight, but I wore them around the house. They relaxed to my foot and calf size. Ended up feeling good. No room to stuff pants. 17.5" calf but Really liked them after the fit in period. So follow the size suggestions from others and break them in walking on your carpet. I bought an 8W. Would buy them again.

I loved the color and feel of the leather, but the calf shaft was way too wide. I have boots with 16" shafts that are fine for tights, but not stretch pants, and wanted to have the option for wearing stretch pants with boots, but sadly these shafts were way too wide, so I had to return them. I normally wear a 6.5-7 shoe and run a bit wide. The 7W that I ordered seemed the perfect size to be able to wear a pair of mid weight socks underneath, which is nice for the winter.

I was having trouble finding a wide calf boot that was in this color and leather. The Sam Edelman is wide, maybe a little too wide, but the styling is terrific and just what I was looking for. I have a narrow heel, so I’m going to have to put in a heel grip. Great for wide calf’s.

I have big legs and the top of the boot is way......to wide. There was about a 3 inch gap between the top of my calf and the top of the boot. So I would recommend this boot if, and only if, you have really, really, really big legs!!!! I have always struggled to find tall boots because they would never zip up my entire calf area. So to find some cute boots, that are reasonably priced was a disappointment!!!

This is a very nice looking shoe. I usually buy 9 1/2 or 10 so I bought a 10 wide. It actually fits fine, but I am returning these for a 10 1/2 so that I can wear a thicker sock. I think that will make the boots more comfortable. The wide was a good choice even though I don't usually buy wide. That was a good choice from previous reviews. My calf measures about 16 and these were wide enough for me with tight legged jeans. I really liked that. It makes it great to return it for free.

I recently purchased these in the whiskey color. They are a wonderful option if you need a wide calf boot. My only complaint is that the whiskey color looks very different in person than it does on screen. Rather than being a deep brownish burgundy, they are more similar to the color of peanut butter. I returned them and tried another pair and the color was slightly better but still nothing like what is in the photo so just a heads up on that. Zappos should take some more accurate photos so that you can see the color. They are a beautiful boot though.

These boots are really very beautiful and well made. The color is actually a little lighter than they appear in the photo. I wanted something darker and the calf area is a little snug, so I am returning them. But it was a very difficult decision, as they are really nice boots. They are real leather, very soft to the touch inside and out. They are knee high and the heel height is about 1 inch. I never wore them for more than a few minutes, but it seems like the foot area would be ok for all-day wear. I gave these a try because I am having a very difficult time finding a boot with a wide enough calf. Mine measures 15 inches at the widest point. I have tried shopping around and nothing fits. Even most boots labeled as wide calf. These boots were wider than any others I have tried. However, when I tried them with skinny jeans there was not much room to spare. I want something that will last for at least a few years, and for that reason, these boots would be perfect if not for being snug in the calf. If I gain a few pounds I am sure they would not fit any longer. Unfortunately, they have to go back.

I loved these boots so much and was very excited to get them in the mail. When I opened the box they were even more beautiful in person! I took them out and tried them on. Width of foot was pretty good (I ordered wide) and the calf circumference was perfect, I’d say probably 17” around. I have about 15.5” calves and they fit great with plenty of room for jeans or boot socks. As I looked closer at the boot I noticed that both pairs had visible marks on them, almost like a stain. I had used the customer service chat and explained my situation. They were very nice and told me I could exchange, which I planned to do but they no longer had my size and width available. I contemplated returning them because when I spend $150 on boot I expect them to be quality, unfortunatly although they fit great and look great (minus the marks) they were not. Zappos said they would credit me $20 (which I haven’t seen yet) but I feel like maybe I should have just returned them. I’m usually pretty happy with their customer service and I know it’s not their fault my size was no longer available, just kind of disappointed.

I usually buy the wide calf boots but these were much wider than any of my other boots. Everything else about them was great. I'm thinking maybe that's what "2 wide" means in the title. wink, wink

These boots are beautiful. I tried the regular calf size first and couldn’t get them zipped. The wide calf size was plenty big and left room for leggings and skinny jeans. Unfortunately they looked weird at the top of the boot, there was a gap between the boot and my leg. I’ve been searching for a nice pair of tall boots and so badly wanted these to work for me. But I had to return them and continue the search. I’m so thankful for Zappos customer service and super fast shipping!

I have only worn them once, but they do feel comfortable. Very hard to find stylish boots to fit my wide calfs and these really do.
