I recently purchased this item for my upcoming trip. The bag looks very durable and stylish. The size is perfect for a single traveller. Its just a little awkwark in terms of carrying it. Not a big problem though. I didnt regret the purchase

My wife Bought a version of this bag a couple years ago and I have been jealous and eyeballing one ever since! We can travel a lot for work and the bag is just the right size for a couple days or a weeks trip. The compartments are great for organizing if you don't just shove it all in there like I do. Too bad they have discontinued this bag! Get it while you can!

Just bought my third one...first for me, second for my wife, gave the first to my son, and just bought a third to replace that one. Did a week in Italy, all carry on, with no issues. Only recommendation I could make would be to add a belt to keep the bag in place when it is heavy. Really a great bag though.

This is my second Wingman and the subtle changes from the early version make it even better. I love that it's light, provides plenty of fill and carry options. I've easily fit a weeks worth of clothes in it when I want to travel light

I was finally able to take this bag for a spin this weekend, using it as my only bag for a three-night work trip to Florida. It held everything I needed despite changing climates and weather. I could have fit, and should have packed a couple more jackets. They would have topped out the bag, but I still had plenty of room for the things that I brought with, laptop included.

You can't beat this bag for long weekends, this is the second one I've bought. The first one for myself and now another for my wife, this bag is very well proportioned and very versatile in the way that you can handle it. It's great for flying into a major city and spending some time there before checking in to your hotel or air b&b.

I use this bag for weekenders and it is awesome. The correct size for the duration.
Build quality seems great so far and design is really useful.
I think I agree with most when they say that it could use a pocket or two more inside but that's no biggie.

I've travel often and have had the same Chrome Cardiel backpack for about 7 years. Great bag for a couple days, but juuuuust too small to carry a lot of clothes. Plus going in from the top makes it hard to stay organized without taking everything out and re-packing.
For longer trips I'd take the backpack and a Herschel Duffel. Kind of a pain to carry both around comfortably.
Not anymore!
This thing is the answer! It's not enormous to be awkward in your back as a backpack but has enough volume to pack stuff for a week-long trip if you're an efficient packer.
I can easily fit 7 shirts, boxers, socks, an extra pair of pants or 2, a pair of running sneakers, my camera (Canon 5D in a soft case), a couple of lenses, my laptop, cables and toiletries.
The ability to carry it as a duffle, backpack or like a briefcase is sweet too. I like having options. Who doesn't??
Definitely tougher than the average luggage and it looks sleek too!
Too big for an everyday bag unless you need to carry a ton of stuff. It's not a messenger bag. It's luggage. And not like a hiking bag. It's not super ergonomic, but that's not it's main purpose. It's fine though in terms of comfort. Way better than a backpack and a duffle getting you unevenly on one shoulder.
Got it for a killer price on Black Friday but I'd honestly pay double that for this bag.

I love my Timbuk2 Wingman carry-on travel bag. It's durable, simple, roomy, lightweight at 2.2 pounds, with pockets just where I need them. The 40L capacity is enough to pack for a week, with easy access and fast loading. The hideaway backpack straps are quick and convenient, so it never snags on the security rollers or in the overhead bins, and the handles on all four sides make for a grab and go. It also comes with a shoulder strap but I've never used it. I like to pack light, and my Wingman conforms to my body when I use the backpack straps. The sternum strap keeps the pack from shifting on my back. I pop in my earbuds, hands in my sweatshirt pockets and just glide through airports, weaving around folks with rolling luggage. People on occasion stop and ask me about my luggage, and I proudly tell them it's called the Wingman by Timbuk2. Oh btw, I named my Wingman "Gose", actually there's two O's in Goose. So when I tell my wife and kids I need to stuff the Gose, they know I'm packing my Wingman!

I bought this backpack for four to five weeks of backpacking across Europe. I didn't want to go full backpack on our trip, but wanted something comfortable, light, and convenient for hauling on and off trains, planes, and automobiles. The best feature of the pack by far is the opening flap, which lets you open up the pack fully and see what's inside, instead of having to rummage blindly through your bag or pull everything else out to grab that one thing (like conventional large hiking backpacks). It's my go-to travel bag and easily holds enough for an over-packed long weekend to two weeks. Shoe compartment is another excellent feature. Straps did start cutting into my shoulder, but that was when my pack easily weighed 45 lbs or more (I brought b.

I was looking for a bag that would allow me to travel on any airline in any country without needing to check it, fit as much as I could in it, be organized, and be nimble to move through crowds. I travel by a one bag rule. I've traveled through Europe when it's been hot as well as cold, Asia when it was below 15 degrees, and around the US for business purposes. This bag has been with me through it all. Whether it's a 3 week trip or just a few days, I can fit all I need in here. I get creative with my folding, stash small items within shoes in the top compartment (size 14 shoe fits!), utilize the awesome quick access pocket for documents, and keep my iPad and Bose headphones in the laptop compartment. For extended trips, I simply plan to stay at or find a place to do laundry to clean essentials midway. Works like a charm.
I can't recommend this bag enough and hope it truly sticks around.

The Wingman is all I will ever need to travel again! The duffel and concealable backpack straps are comfortable and adjustable. The inner pocket and cinch straps accommodate the a surprisingly large amount of clothing, and the smaller pockets will hold cosmetics, an extra pair of shoes, electronics, and more. The ripstop fabric is actually wonderful and all buckles and zippers feel high quality. All this and the confidence that comes with Timbuk2's lifetime guarantee, I couldn't ask for more. Many trips in my future with this bag...

This bag has it all...sleek style, plenty of pockets, several carrying options, just the right amount of structure. Recently took it on its maiden voyage and it performed like a champ. I carried it backpack style and it was sooo comfortable. Highly recommend!

Husband used it for short, international business trip. Worked well. Would prefer the backpack straps to be removable - just to eliminate a bit of bulk and free up this additional compartment since he uses a Tumi backpack for his laptop. Otherwise, this is a great travel bag for carryon purposes and held up being checked on the return trip.

I love its classic looks and the build-quality. The simple design is very functional, period - it's all I need. I wasn't looking for a "feature"-rich design, typical of so many modern over-engineered bags. For my traveling style, it has all the necessary bells and whistles - has enough pockets and particularly appreciate the good ol' internal compression straps. I really couldn't be happier.

I did a 2 week (9 locations) trip to Japan (2016) and a 5 week (20 locations trip) to Europe (Spain, Portugal and Poland) (2017) - I wonder how I managed to travel without it for all those years before.

I am so thankful to have had this bag on my 3 week trip in Europe. My sister and I each bought this bag for our trip and traveling to 8 cities/12 international flights was a BREEZE. I am astounded at how much it could fit and never had to pay any luggage fees. We used the bag as a backpack and felt that it was very manageable. Thank you for helping us conquer the world :)

Packed everything I needed for 5-6 days in Tokyo, Japan into this carry-on bag and another smaller backpack as my personal item. Weather was a bit on the colder side when I went, so packing LAYERS that could be rolled up to save room is key to making this work. If you're a minimalist like me, this one bag could be all you need. Travel to a country with even warmer climates and you can probably get away with packing everything you need for 2 weeks into this one bag. Paired with a set of packing cubes, it'll make packing for long trips less stressful than it has to be.
I'm the kind of traveler that likes to be as mobile as possible, so it's crucial for me not to check in any extra luggage that might slow me down. This bag can be quickly converted from a regular duffel bag with a sling to a backpack with the hidden backpack straps on the inside. Even with 5-6 days worth of stuff inside, wearing it as a backpack is very comfortable.
If you're a minimalist traveler that doesn't want to check in anything and you want to be as mobile as possible, get this bag.
However, if you can't travel light, staying longer than 2 weeks and/or just require MORE STUFF in general... You're better off getting a rolling luggage that has more room and to save your spine from the weight.

I took this bag as my sole luggage on a 16 day trek through europe where I had seven flights and a train ride. Not once did the cabin crew tell me it was too large to carry-on (so the international carry-on size descriptor is true!).
I exclusively used the backpack straps - they are comfortable and do their job well. The materials seem pretty sturdy bc I carried it by the top strap a lot of the times I was in the various airports and even though I packed the bag to the brim, i never worried about the strap failing when I yanked on it. The zippers are also very strong, which again made it so I didn't have to worry about the bag falling apart midtrip. Basically, this bag helped me focus on having fun on my trip instead of ever having to worry about my luggage.
My only gripe is I wish there was one more small pocket on the front, but it's not a huge deal. Having used this bag, I would gladly pay twice the list price if I ever had to buy it again.
