My first pair of Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars was around 1967 I guess (maybe earlier but not later I don't think). Hard to remember that pair well (or the next pair either). I do remember knowing they weren't good off pavement or for the woods. I wore them almost exclusively for the next ten years. Know that (after the first pair) for the first six months each pair was for hardwood floors only and nothing else. Second pair for practices and eventually street wear. In later years and well before Converse moved the manufacturing overseas something happened to the design and the shoes went in a slightly lighter direction. This was okay for riding public transport I guess but not for anything else. For these past 40 years or so I've known the lighter, more flexible shoe. It is good for long walks in the city in fair weather... but not as good as this shoe. This shoe is slightly sturdier, and a higher grade shoe using slightly more of the same materials. College and pro players aren't going back to wearing these new/old Chuck Taylor's (because they always had their limitations) but it is the same shoe that made the sport of basketball back in the days of the ABA and before. Maybe slightly better.

I’m normally a 6.5 or 7. In the original converse I’m a 4.5. Tried these in 4 and 4.5. 4 was definitely too small and 4.5 felt great minus the toe feeling narrow. I didn’t want to size up to 5, as the 70’s are already longer than the originals and I didn’t want my shoes to look so awkwardly long. My feet are more are the wide side, so for those with wide feet may have to size up? Sad these didn’t work because you can tell the comfort and quality are so there!

This is a great shoe! I typically wear a wide shoe and was a little concerned about not being able to order a wide width, but these are spot on. Buy them, you won’t regret it!

Chuck Taylor All Stars are popular among ethical vegans, so I assumed the more comfortable '70 model was vegan too. It wasn't until I questioned the leather-textured logo patch (inside ankle) that I googled and found this official answer from Converse: "Chuck ‘70 is moving to a leather embossed patch, and updating the logo on the bumper plate sock liner, so the CTAS ’70 is no longer vegan." OF COURSE, Zappos was awesome as ever and gladly allowed my return, but WARNING to vegans, that Converse decided a 2" round patch was worth someone's life. :(

Fits slightly narrow but nice cushioned footbed. I usually wear size 9 or 9.5 in running sneakers. Based on the description i size down by 1/2size to a 8.5. 8.5 feels great length wise but it does feel a bit narrow, like most Converse. The 70sHi does have more cushion in the footbed than the Allstar’s for sure!!!!! Still i love these and am keeping them. Definitely 1/2 size down! Happy Shopping y’all!

These chucks would have been great however they are so narrow that even the rubber toe cap looks way too small. Had to return them. Wish they were cut like regular chucks.

My son wears only converse. He usually wears the lower priced model. I got these thinking they were better made, would last longer, and have more cushion. My son has cuts around the heel where an edge inside the shoe is pressing against the heel. He said they feel a lot tighter than his regular converse. They can’t go back now because he’s worn them trying to break them in. Just ordered the lower priced shoes.

I like them a lot. Much better quality than the regular style and better support also. I have a pair of the Chuck II's that came out a few years ago and while they offered good support, they felt tighter and give more of a crowded feel. I love my Chuck 70's and will be watching for new colors

Like the extra cushioning and support compared to other Chuck T's. In bigger sizes, the extra white rubber makes the feet look much bigger than the classic Chuck T's, but decided that it was worth it for extra support. Not as narrow as the classics. This is a heavy shoe. Love the availability of 1/2 sizes above Women size 10!

My second pair and I’m just as pleased as I was with the first. It’s so nice to be able to wear Converse again.

Ordered my last pair of these in a 10.5. As a young adult, depending on the style of shoes, I would wear a 10.5-11. Recently while shopping at a Kohl's for clothing, I was near their shoe department and decided to request a proper shoe sizing with a Brannock device: 10.5 and just a bit wide. After carefully reading through 25-30 reviews for these 70's Chucks, I decided on a 10 because of other's reviews stating that these ran a half-size large. As soon as I have time, these 10s are going back because they're still too large and canvas needs to snug to be supportive. Overall, the sole is very comfortable and it is a classic All-Star that is better made than the standard version.

The product description is pretty uninformative, so here's what makes these shoes different from regular All-Stars: The canvas is heavier and the plastic on the toe cap and sidewalls is much shinier. There is quite a bit more padding in the soles, with noticeably thicker sidewalls. The star patch is sewn on, pretty convincing imitation leather. These are much more comfortable than the All-Stars I'm used to wearing, much more like the Converse II. They've become my go-to every day shoe, and have held up well so far with heavy use over about two months.

My very tall 14 year old son is very happy with these! I am glad we sprung for the extra padding of the 70s. He may be complaining about the comfort in a few months since he walks a lot, but he's been wearing Converse since he was in preschool and they always look great--he always comes back to the style. He's a size 14 or 15 and went for the 15 and it fit well.

I beat a regular pair of Chucks to death . It took years. I loved these shoes. Their one weakness was not a whole lot of cushioning. I was super hyped when I belatedly found out about the Chuck 70s. I ordered them in the same exact size as my classic Chucks. The problem is that with the thicker, cushier insole..the toe box is WAY too tight/narrow feeling...for my feet at least. They feel roomier when I take the insole out but that seems silly. I could order a bigger size but then they'd be too long. I'm going to try to replace the insole with some superfeet carbons and see how they feel. Will report back.

Classic. Goes with just about everything and extremely comfortable. I wear a 10 in everything else and a 9.5 fits like a glove. So definitely go down a half size.

i absolutely love these chucks !! these are probably my 15th pair, but who's counting. these particular chucks have a different feel to them, the material feels really soft and of high quality. i got the yellow. true to size unlike other chucks I own. nobody wears this shoe for the arch support, if you want arch support maybe you should check out some clarks. i will totally purchase these again, same style. love em to pieces !!!

These shoes are awesome. I have many pairs of converse high tops, but I wanted to get these because they looked to be better quality. And wow. They are much better quality than the regular high tops that everyone has. These are sturdy, comfortable, but they do run a half size larger. I am usually a women’s 10, and I got a 9.5 in these and they are perfect. Love the color, they’re like a gold/yellow/mustard. Very pleased. Happy I got them. Thanks Zappos!

The fit is half size larger. I am usually a 10.5 in sneakers and had to get 10 in these bad boys! They have extra cushion in the footbed and so it is extremely comfortable to wear!!

I would say they are slightly bigger than the regular chucks. They feel a little longer and slightly wider which for me is perfect. I love these chucks. They have a really thick sole and the canvas is probably twice as thick is the originals. Way better and I'm loving the make. I don't think I'll ever buy the originals. Nike has completely destroyed the originals, they break down so quickly. I feel like these should hold up way better. We'll see.

Chucks usually run a half size bigger so I ordered mine a half size smaller and they fit great. The soles are thicker than the regular style so they are far more comfortable. These also have great arch support. I have a high arch and usually chucks hurt my feet after a few hours of wearing them but not these. Overall cute and comfy!

I had my eye on these for awhile and when I finally decided to purchase them I was not at all disappointed. The overall quality is a huge step up from the traditional Chuck Taylors, including a more supportive and cushioned insole, stronger canvas, and thicker laces. They are also less narrow than usual Chucks, but I would agree with previous reviewers advising half a size up.
