I am always looking for the best sun protection. I love that it is 50 spf. I wear it daily during the summer and while gardening. My only complaint is the s/m is a bit big for size small heads. It rests on my ears and eyebrows providing great shade. It is probably better for medium heads. Possibly putting an insert in the top could place it in a better place for smaller heads, but would make it hotter in warm weather. Overall, a terrific sun protection source. The neck tie is wonderful for windy weather and travel.

The hat fits very well and is seemingly made of quality materials. As I have not yet worn mine out, I am unable to attest to the durability. The design is well thought-out and the string prevents the wind from removing the hat, whether on a boat or trail. The packaging of the white hat I purchased, was poor at best. It was literally thrown in a brown shipping box, without a wrapper. I received my white hat with dirt in several spots.

Although the fit was fine, and I like the color, I'm not a fan of the unevenly floppy brim. Returning.

I measured my head and this hat should have fit, but it was quite a bit too large. Seems to be of good quality but I had to return it.

I ordered the s/m and it is too tight. The hat doesn't fit comfortably on my head. I keep trying to wear it but never make it out the door because it's uncomfortable. Wish I had gone with the L/XL!

The hat is not really pack-able as claimed. Even if lightly folded into a big bag it wrinkles badly and the wrinkles do not fall out. Otherwise, it is a great hat. I like the leather neck tie that keeps the hat on in the wind.

So sad to return this hat. I liked the style but the size was too small. I ordered a md/lg. The size is more like a medium.

I bought this because I thought it would be a good travel hat--crushable, rollable, etc. Not so much. It doesn't pop back into shape as hoped, but becomes progressively lumpier. I also liked having an adjustable chin strap to keep the hat from blowing off in a breeze, but it broke after not much use. On the plus side it's light weight and an attractive color.

I loved this hat! It was big enough for my large head, comfortable, and cute! And it shaded my head very well. But I didn't read the care label that says to not get it wet....who would've guessed a travel SUN hat couldnt get wet??? So I wore it into the ocean, it was splashed by the sea water so I rinsed it in clear water. Only then did I find out it was made of mostly paper. I wish the sales product tag would have more prominently said it was non washable, not just the care tag. So if you want a hat and you don't sweat very much or go near the water, this is a lovely, comfortable hat.

I bought this hat for a trip to Bali. Having a tiny head, I was glad to see it came in a small size. Nevertheless, it turned out to be too big. I had to add two peel-and-stick sponge rubber strips to the inside of the hat to keep it from slipping down over my eyebrows. No big deal, it fit fine after that. It made it to Bali in good condition. However, the return trip wasn't so good. Although I packed it in the top corner of my suitcase exactly as recommended, the hat was crushed and bent when I got home from my trip. I would say it is definitely not useable at this point. A cloth hat would have been better. I went with this one because I thought it was more attractive and less frumpy than cloth, but I now have regrets. Due to the overall circumference of the hat, I was unable to shove it into my daypack or tote while on tours, which would have been convenient. I would say stick with a cloth, truly packable hat if you are planning on taking it on vacation.

This hat is not for small heads. It will fit medium. I wear 6 7/8 and this covers my eyebrows.

I purchased this hat , way too big floppy , cheap straw so I returned and got a better quality hat .

Unfortunately this "Large/XLarge" woman's hat is too small...

Con: Within the first 20 minutes the hat fell apart all along the seam where the brim attaches to the head. Once the tare started it didn't stop! Judging by the reviews this is not an isolated problem. I contacted Zappos and they shipped a new one right away (yay!). I just hope it doesn't happen again as making repairs to a brand new hat does not seem like something I should have to do. I'll give it 1 more shot. Pros: It fit! I have a 23/23.5" head and it fit without discomfort. Good color (Sparrow) and great otherwise for this pale girl.

It only lasted the 8 days of my trip and the very last one I did not even wear it because it got all torn out. I was even wearing it through the airport on the way there because I did not want it to get wrinkled or ruined. Well, not worth the effort. I am teacher and I take really good care of my stuff, I love Columbia products, but I am truly disappointed with this one.

This is a nice lightweight hat with a generous brim for sun protection. After a river float trip, I was unhappily surprised to find that I couldn't wash or remove the dirt stains that occurred. Even when I violated the "no wash" instructions (which were never disclosed on the webpage), soap and water had no effect. Thankfully I was able to return it. Never buy a white hat that you can't wash or spot treat successfully!

My wife used this hat fishing in the keys, and it worked well to keep the sun off of her ears and face. But when we got back to the hotel, we realized that the hat had separated half-way down the brim of the hat, the strips became separated. The stitching completely came apart, and now there is a large hole in the brim. It was a great hat, but just barely held up after one day's use.

I had purchased this hat, as my daughter has the same hat. The sides of the hat flop down like piece of limp fabric. It does not provide the sun protection I had expected. I would like very much to return this hat. I will admit, I did get it wet - my daughter got hers wet and it still stick out an provides sun protection.

I really liked this hat, but it was torn when I received it. I had read some other reviews saying that it tears easily where the brim attaches to the hat, but I really liked it so decided to give it a try. Very unhappy to see mine was already torn when I removed it from the box. Not the quality I expected from Columbia.

The very first day I wore the hat in a very windy area the clasp broke into tiny pieces. I did not have it on more than 2 minutes.

I purchased this product because it was supposed to be packable and maintain it's shape. This product did roll down small, however it did not maintain it's shape. I was careful during my trip when packing to roll it in a different direction each time as to not create crease or repeated rolling direction. Even with my diligence to care for the product it's now not wearable due to structural misshaping from travel. Had I known it would do this I would not have packed it, but instead carried it outside my bag. I love the hat and am very sad that it was ruined.

For outdoor wear, this hat doesn't pass the test. I was rained on and now this hat is completely unusable. Droopy, dented, and nonredeemable. The shape completely fell apart when it was rained on. Which is a bit ridiculous since hats are worn outdoors. It also cannot be spot cleaned which again means it should be treated like an Easter bonnet not a travel hat. I really liked this hat until I used it outdoors. Don't get this hat unless you are 100% sure you will be able to keep it completely dry and clean.

This hat looked and worked great for a few short days on a cruise but then it started to tear apart at one of the grommets and now there is about a 4-inch section that is separated. I am going to have to try to repair it myself. BooHoo Columbia, this one is a big FAIL.
