I have the olive green version. I LOVED this hat until an outdoor adventure included an unexpected rain shower. The dye on the hat is not water fast and runs. I don't understand why Columbia would make a hat for outdoor activities that can't get wet.

When the hat first arrived, it was a bit crimped. But since it's meant for travel (packable) I didn't panic. I let the hat rest a little while and most of the wrinkles fell right out. Later, I misted the hat with a little water and found I was able to actually form the shape of the hat to my liking. Pretty cool. Didn't expect that. Bought this for a Costa Rica hiking and beach trip but suspect this will soon be my go-to gardening hat.

I bought this hat for a trip to Costa Rica. I love how it looks and it was so comfortable to wear, even in the high heat and humidity conditions. I was so disappointed when the hat started to tear along the brim after only three days of wearing it! I had not been rough with it or stretched it at all. I had to keep it packed in my suitcase for the rest of the 12 day trip because I did not want to tear it further. I think I can stitch it back up, but I was upset that I spent so much on a hat only to have it break within the first few days of my trip. I expected a more lasting and durable product from a company like Columbia.

This is a very nice hat in a size that is large enough for my big 7 3/8 head. The strap easily comes off and can be stored away for future use during high wind conditions or on a boat, etc. I wear the hat without the strap almost every day to work.

First, I loved this hat. I bought it for a trip where I knew I’d be spending a lot of time outside. I tried it on, it fit great. On the first day of my trip, within MINUTES, the crown separated from the brim. Within 20 minutes, there were only about 6 inches still attached. So disappointing and left me stuck without a good hat for sun protection. Would highly recommend you find a different hat. Checked on amazon and people were stating the same problem in reviews, so it seems like a lot of these hats fall apart. This really let me down, I was depending on this hat to protect me from the sun.

When I opened the package, this hat barely resembled the Zappos photo. It was folded for shipping which shouldn't have been a big deal since it's supposedly suitable/crushable for travel. But the brim flopped down awkwardly on the front and side, giving me little hope that I would keep it. Decided to leave it on my table overnight with heavy books covering the brim. By the next morning, the brim had flattened out substantially, although it's still more floppy overall vs. the photo. The straw material is well made and the hat fits nicely, so I'm holding onto it. But I knocked my rating down one star because of uncertainty about its packing quality.

I love this hat!!!! I wanted a hat with a wide brim to keep the sun off my face and neck, but that wouldn't flop after 2 days. I bought multiple similar hats that flopped within a week, making it impossible to see more than 2 feet in front of me. I was resigned to getting an ugly, stiff, pure-straw hat if it meant I could keep the sun off me and still see. Happy to report: I've had it for about a month, using it regularly, and the brim is still stiff! It is a flexible hat (for example, it can blow back in the wind), but keeps its shape very well. I have not abused it though--no rain, no packing, always stored flat.It's pretty stylish for a sunhat (although the neck tie is a little goofy, but easily hidden), and I get compliments. This is much pricier than a $5 hat from Target, but it is absolute quality. I'm so happy to have a hat that keeps its shape, but looks stylish.

Love this hat so much I am buying another one! It fits beautifully, although I did have to return the medium for a large in the beginning. The chin strap is great for windy days. And I can fold it and put it in my purse when I don't need it, then put it back on and it still looks great. Even my husband has complimented me on how good it looks!

As noted by another customer, I loved this hat, but it began to rip around the brim after only three days of use--so much so that it became unwearable for the remainder of the trip. Luckily, I had another hat packed.

A family history of melanoma requires our children to wear hats in the sun. Imagine my delight when I found a hat my teenage daughter would wear willingly. One day on the boat and the brim tore almost completely from the crown. I would have expected a higher quality product from a name like Columbia.

Although I love the style and fit of this hat, I am extremely disappointed with its durability. On my very first trip with it, one of the grommets came out and the hat came apart where the top meets the brim. I tried to stitch it up, but the entire front of the hat has now separated from the brim. I was expecting to wear this hat for years and thought I was buying a quality product. This hat is definitely not packable or built for adventures.

Nice hat. However, I'm petite (5'1", 100 lb.) and this hat brim was waaaay too big. Wish there were hats made for petite women. I've tried children's hats and they are either too small or too childish looking with the design.

I *love* this hat. In fact, I own it in three colors and am about to get a fourth. I wear them out on hikes and during full days of photographing out at the breezy seashore. I haven't had any of the quality issues others have mentioned. I love that it comes in multiple sizes. The large is the only good sunhat I've found that fits my gigantic head. The strap is essential if you have any breeze at all. It's also nice - not too casual, not too fancy - a tough feat to pull off in the sun hat game. It hits just the right mark of stylishishness for the SF Bay Area. As for "packable", I have no opinion. I put my hats in the overhead bin for travel to keep them nice.

Received folded in quarters destroying the shape of the hat. I will order from a store that ships the hat properly. I have loved this product and used it for many years but have never received one in this condition.

I love the hat, but I ordered a s/m but it was still too large. One size fits all are always too big so thought this would fit better. I checked the Internet for a solution and someone suggested gluing a small piece if foam between the hat and the inside hat band. It worked great!!! Now the hat fits and no one can tell that the piece of foam is there.

I love this hat! It is very stylish and the added sun protection makes it easy to wear all day with out a worry. I gave four stars on the overall rating because when I received the hat the brim was misshapen from shipping, I am hoping it rights itself in a few days. Otherwise, I highly recommend this to any one who wants a nice, stylish hat with a perfectly sized brim.

The hat itself is lovely. However, after the third wearing, 2/3 of the brim became unstitched from the crown of the hat. I see that another reviewer had the same problem, so it's not a fluke. Fortunately, thanks to Zappos awesome 365 day refund policy, I was able to return the hat. Beware!

This hat fit well, kept the sun out of my eyes and was decently stylish, until the brim separated from the top. The stitching started coming out, and I had to go buy a sewing kit while on vacation and then spend 30 minutes repairing it. I expected a more durable product from Columbia.

Bought this for my wife who had extremely sensitive skin. It's hard for her to spend long periods of time outside, until she got this hat! Truly a life saver, now she needs the uv protected clothing !
