These are BEAUTIFULLY made shoes! Great support and traction. Unfortunately, even size 8 was a squeeze for my 7.5 feet. Wish they were a tad wider, I'd buy multiple pairs.

I bought these shoes for a trip to Norway, where we knew we would be doing a lot of hiking in the rain. After two days of hiking in the rain, 10 miles each day, my only complaint is that the traction is really bad on wet rocks. They are extremely comfortable (even right out of the box) and extremely waterproof (the rest of me was pretty soaked, but my feet were dry). I'm hoping that with a little wear and tear on the soles, the traction might get better, but until then, I'll have to tread pretty carefully.

Comfortable shoe right out of box. I did try on once and thought to narrow, but waited a few days tried on again and fit like a glove. They do run not in the warmer months, nothing a little powder won't fix. So far happy with the shoe.

Just what I was looking for: waterproofness (untested yet by me), comfort, support, and style. However, I did have to swap my normal 7 for 7.5 because my toe touched the end of the shoe. I purchased the.black because I didn't want them to stand out as sports shoes. I may try the lighter gray for summer.

So far these seem to have very good support and traction. I put them on and didn't even take them off after I returned home. They are that comfortable.

Pretty shoe, very sturdy. I love the color. Makes my feet hot, going to keep wearing hoping when I switch socks maybe it will help?

slips on my heels. I have pretty narrow feet but this would have worked otherwise. Narrower than marked is good!

I ordered both the Ahnu Sugarpine in a sz. 10 med. width Black & Dark Slate. I was surprised how much better the Dark Slate fit. The Black was wider and didn't provide as good support. I've owned similar style Ahnu shoes that were sturdier with more of a suede material that I loved and was disappointed that neither pair were as well made.

I love these shoes but I need an 11.5 in them and their largest size is 11. Such a bummer that nobody makes bigger than size 11 for women!

This was my first pair of waterproof shoes and they didn't disappoint. I wore these on vacation to Iceland and my toes stayed warm and dry, and I wore them all winter long on the East Coast, too. My only complaint is that some of the inner lining and padding at the back of the heel on the inside has started to rip and tear. Overall they're super comfy, the purple color is gorgeous in person and I got lots of compliments, and they're warm and waterproof but I'm a little concerned about the durability and if I'll be able to get another full winter out of them. At this price point I was hoping they'd last for several years, but even if they don't I would happily rebuy them again. They were comfortable straight out of the box, didn't have to be broken in, and were just amazing for vacationing in Iceland in the winter and for the wet and icy East Coast winter, too.

I have had this shoe for a month and work as a gardener in it, hiked in it several times and love it in so many ways: cute, very waterproof but not too hot, lightweight, with minimal fabric layering-- a reason I bought it....thinking garden crouching won't crack the shoe across the top of the ball of foot area as soon since it's fabric not layered with leather, easy to lace and unlace, not a gaudy color like what currently is "in" right now. Things to be aware of: The shoe is short on me, usually 8-8.5 but I need a 9-- I didn't notice this until I put on a mid weight sock and went for a hike a week after purchase. Because I keep my nails short it seems okay for my job, and I can hike downhills in them for now ( my toe touches the whole time), until I get another pair of shoes specific for hiking (which I was hoping not to do). The other thing you may consider is that there is minimal to moderate cushion between your foot and the ground. Enough in my opinion for this lightweight shoe, and tough, but also flexible. Basically this means your feet may get fatigued at first, but my sense it that is it is my feet are getting used to not being overly cocooned in a thicker stiffer shoes. I can feel my feet move more in these than my last pair. They get a little tired, but in a good way, like any part of your body that might be a bit out of shape, like I am sensing my foot is. I'm used to hiking in heavier stiffer shoes or boots so it's a new and good feeling for my feet to be "toning up".

I tried a couple different shoes and liked these the most for hiking. Light weight and great arch support. My feet did not hurt after a 5 mile hike. Pretty decent support. I also loved the style. Doesn't look like your typical ugly hiking shoe. I wear 7.5 and bought half size up as people suggested but they were too big so exchanged for my normal size. Glad I bought them.

Very Comfortable! I have a difficult time finding any shoes that fit right due to bunions. These light weight hikers are roomy in the toes, have good arch support, and do not slip in the heel. I wear them with cushioned hiking socks. I sometimes wear a size 8.5 and sometimes a 9. I got these in a 9 M.

I have several pairs of the Ahnu air mesh for work and walking so I tried the waterproof shoe for hiking. They run small and I am sadly stuck with expensive shoes I cannot return because I expected them to fit the same as Ahnu Air Mesh and wore them in the mud right away. I have also had to go up a half size even with the Air Mesh so I think the brand in general runs small.

I really wanted to love this boot. Alas, it is too tight for my wider foot. Not enough space in the toe box and a tightness across the top of my foot. Perhaps Ahnu will recognize the need for a wide option.

I was so anxious to try this shoe after reading all the positive reviews. It has a nice wide toebox and fit me in my normal athletic-shoe size. But there is a major problem with this model and the Sugarpine Mesh that forces me to return both. That is the high cut of the shoe all around the ankle. I don't think I have ever had a problem with a shoe rubbing both my ankle bones, but this is at least 3/8" higher than my Brooks shoes. I tried putting a heel lift inside, which solved the rubbing issue, but made the shoe and my walking motion uncomfortable. This shoe seems so well made and is really good looking, but the lack of enough swoop to accommodate ankle bones is a killer for me. It is also a bit stiffer and clunkier than I need.

These are broken in right out of the box! Comfortable, nice looking. Wide toe box was a little too wide for my foot but with thick sock seems to work. Anhu is my new hiking shoe as long as they hold up.

These are very nice looking shoe and I thought that I had found what I was looking for: wide enough for my feet, yet narrow enough to fit my heel. But, as soon as I put both shoes on and walked a few steps, I knew they would be going back. They ride too high and rub my shin bone! I tried a different insole, thinking that might raise my foot enough to avoid the rub, but that was a no go. I probably would have changed insoles anyway because this shoe's insole does not provide much cushion at all - be prepared to put in your own insoles. Back to the drawing board. I am still looking for waterproof/water resistant athletic shoes for wide feet and narrow heels.

These are cute and sturdy with a comfortable footbed. But the tongue is annoying due it to being attached to both sides of the shoe-upper (for waterproofing), creating a sometimes uncomfortable fold of fabric against my foot. I m hoping that smooshes down before long.

Great all round except heel slipping. So sending back as this defeats the purpose I wanted for - long hard walks on country roads.

I wanted so much to love this shoe. I have several other pairs, in another style of this brand. They were just a little too wide. I ordered a 7.5, they were too short, then reordered the 8. Love the color and style. Great arch support, just to wide in the ankle.

I recently ordered several pairs of waterproof hiking shoes from Zappos hoping to find one that is comfortable for my problem feet. Thank goodness for Zappos! Trying several pairs was risk free with their free shipping and returns. The red Ahnu Sugarpine water proof hiker is the one I chose to keep. They feel true to size (I wear a 9½) and the toe box is plenty roomy. Often hikers feel great on my feet at first, but over time my feet tend to slide forward making my toes hit the front of the shoe. This has not happened yet, so I am hopeful that these will feel comfortable for a long time. I have neuromas and my feet often ache all over, so comfortable shoes is a necessity. These have been great for walking around town. I have yet to try them on a hike. Some reviewers have said that they are a bit slippery on wet surfaces, which is surprising for a Vibram sole. I am hoping that I do not have that same experience.

Fit is a little big. Put in different insoles so less stiff and comfy now. Warm and dry so far. Wear them on dog walks in the morning and evening.
