Purchased these for a 3 week trip to Greece since I, too, have "difficult feet": wide feet with narrow heels, high arches, bouts with plantar fasciitis, and ultimately a severe break to all the metatarsals of my left foot. Although I have comfortable Vasque hiking boots, I didn't want to wear boots on this trip. Once I received these hiking shoes, I wore them almost constantly because they were so comfortable -- no break-in required. I did use Superfeet orthotics, as I do in all my shoes. I can honestly say these shoes made my vacation since I walked miles each day, often over rough terrain, and climbed many steps -- some days as many as 94 flights according to my fitbit. The real test was walking the Samaria Gorge on Crete -- the longest Gorge in Europe. Although I may have faltered, the shoes didn't -- and the walk with my difficult feet took me 10 hours. The waterproofing kept my feet dry even after countless crossings of the water running through the gorge as well as during downpours in Athens (and a slight mis-aim by my male dog). I bought the purple because I figured if I would be wearing supportive shoes I may as well choose a fun color. These will not be my last pair of Ahnu's.

I can't say enough good things about these shoes. I'm a senior with "difficult" feet, long-time wearer of orthopedics for inward pronation that I'm able to go without with these terrific shoes. Out of the box comfort, lightweight, and with them, I'm amazingly sure-footed. I bought them for a 3-week trip to Mexico, lots of cobblestoned streets, and they've been a lifesaver. Only downside, the waterproofing makes them a bit hot. Otherwise, perfect! I needed a half size larger than usual. Blows former fave, New Balance, that no longer works, out of the park!

Great shoe for hiking also use a pair for work, I am a nurse. Good solid fit with great arch support.Very true to size. Please dont stop making these shoes. Waterproof awesome!

I bought these for a week-long trip to Iceland after trying on a pair in Bluestar at a local REI. Arriving the day before I left for five weeks in France I tucked them into my luggage and forgot about them until I arrived in Iceland. Thankfully there is almost no break-in required. They were very comfortable and light-weight right out of the box. As another reviewer mentioned they can get a little warm, border lining on hot if you have warm feet to begin with. I would like to see some other colors and perhaps some streamlined material as the tongue is especially puffy looking.

Very comfortable and stable, but not squishy, athletic shoe. If you're considering a half size larger, go for it. I recommend. I expect these shoes will last a long time. Solid construction and high quality.

So sad not to be able to keep this beautiful shoe...it is cute, and I love it but I wear an 11 and the size 11 is just a smidge too short for me.

Love these shoes! Bought them for hiking in the Alaska wilderness and found them to be so comfortable and up to the Alaska trail challenge. Talking with another hiker who was wearing the Ahnu brand in the hiking boot style and she, too, loved the comfort of these shoes. Would purchase from this company again. I wear a 5.5 to a 6 and purchased the 6 which fits well.

Looking for waterproof trail walkers for walking the West Highland Way. I have problem feet - bunions, pronation, Morton's neuromas - and need a wide toe box with a narrow heel and depth to accommodate orthotics. These shoes do not have a toe box roomy enough for my problem feet. Had to send them back.

Hurrah...I finally found hiking shoes that fit. One of my feet is 10.5 and the other is 11. I ordered 3 pairs of Ahnu's and they all fit. The Sugarpine is light and breaths a little less than the Sugerpine Mesh. I am buying both. One for summer hiking trails and the mesh for walking in warm weather. I'm a happy camper. Thank you Zappos for all your patience with the shipping.

Comfortable out of the box. More lightweight than I expected, a plus!, a huge difference from my indestructible but too clunky Oboz. I wanted non-mesh shoes to keep my feet dry on wet grass or while working outside, and am thrilled to find these. Will likely order a 2nd pair. The dark slate is more blue than gray.

My favorite shoes! When I originally bought these about a year and half ago I intended to use them for hiking, but they are so comfortable I ended up wearing them all the time. I go on daily long walks with my dog, travel with them and wear them for every day casual wear. Just purchased my second pair because I have worn the soles out from wearing them so much! Super comfortable right out of the box and provide great support. You can walk for miles and your feet won't mind!

I've been trying out a multitude of shoes to wear this winter that had good arch support, kept my feet warm, fit my feet (need a wide toe box with room so the metatarsals can spread out but narrow enough for my heel), and lastly looked stylish! After trying and returning about a dozen pair (thanks Zapppos!) I finally found and have kept this Ahnu Sugarpine and wear them daily. Arch was just what my feet needed, nice thick comfortable insole, no seams on the interior. Today I ordered the Sugarpine Mesh to wear in the summer for hiking! Thank you Zappos!

These shoes are a perfect winter alternative to a sneaker. They keep feet warm and dry... and are even cuter on your feet than they are in the photo. I couldn't be happier.

Very comfortable shoes all around (no need to break these in) and, compared to Merell, the foot bed is not bad. The primary color for the grey slate option is more of a dark green color. Ahnu, however, should bring on a woman to select the colors and style. The colors could be more feminine. I'd personally like some more organic (brown, tan) base colors with a colorful accent or two.

I was looking for a pair of walking shoes with great support for walking on cobblestone streets and rough terrain while on vacation. These shoes are perfect. They are waterproof and they were available in red! Very comfortable too. I'm ready to roam!

Comfortable, functional and cute. My idea of a good shoe. This is my 2nd pair of the Ahnu Sugarpine. I got this pair for the color. My 1st pair is purple. These are waterproof so they are great for walking on a rainy day, we have a few in WA state.

Love these. They have a nice wide toe box yet a good narrow heel for gripping my foot. Very comfy yet sturdy and seem quite well made. I tried on a couple of Keens, which fit me well, in a similar style and these felt lighter and a bit better made, with nicer looks.

I have this style in the gray and I really like the fit. Bought the tan and they felt just a smidge smaller in the length. Seemed to pinch my second toe. Sadly, they went back.

These shoes are comfortable and wearable straight out of the box! Overall, the only reason I gave 4/5 stars is because I have very skinny ankles & the back slips a little. Other than that, these shoes are super awesome for hiking and walking and there is no waiting to break them in.

I love the shoes but they are a little too wide in the heel for my foot so it constantly slips.

May wish I had these shoes later on. I have tried several brands, Zappos is the very best with being able to try shoes on, and right to your door step! These are super nice, comfortable shoes! But, me being a woman who doesn't have extra money, I'm sticking with the Keens, I really like the wider toe box. These would be perfect too, just a personal preference. Great shoe!

These shoes are fantastic! Great tread. Very waterproof. Hiked many miles through mud and rain in the Scottish Highlands and I was the only one with dry feet.

Great shoe for problem feet. I've tried many different brands but these offered a comfort that no other could match. I'm buying two pairs!
