When these were new, out of the box, they felt perfect. After walking in them numerous times for more than three hours at a time, the right toes began to press into the front of the right shoe. The left foot was fine. The shoes were hot, outside temperature 88F. I am now ordering a second pair, a half size larger. I need to walk the Camino de Santiago in May, my shoes need to be perfect for the long trek.

I initially ordered four different styles of the Ahnu hiking shoe in my usual 7.5 size. One of those styles, the Sugarpine, fit the best, especially due to the wider toe section which I need due to bunions on both feet. I decided to return those, however, for a half size larger as quite a few reviews mentioned needing to go up in size. I was really glad I did because the size 8 worked much better for me as it's a bit roomier. I've since worn these several times in the semi-mountainous area where I live and absolutely love them! They are pretty much the most comfortable walking shoe I've worn. I like the style and the "new black" color too - very pleased overall with this purchase.

These are great shoes but must be ordered a 1/2 size larger. I have the identical shoe in the non waterproof style in a 10. They fit perfectly. I ordered these-the waterproof version-in a 10. The first pair had a hard ridge on the lateral side of the right boot. I sent them back and ordered a second pair in a 10 and there was no ridge but the toe box was a little short. So I will send them back and order a 10 1/2. I hope they will be perfect. I love the fit of the Ahnu shoes which have a capacious toe box.

Ordered the red shoes in a half size larger than usual. I really love the way this shoe looks, and it fit great EXCEPT that it comes up a bit high on my foot and rubs against the front of my ankle. So very disappointed and must send them back.

I tried many shoes before finding these. They are very comfortable, true to size and are truly waterproof! I work in an equine emergency hospital and am on cement floors that get wet. I needed shoes that didn't slip and would support my feet. These do that and are cute to boot. Love the soles. Zappos you are a great company. Please don't change a hair on your head.

These are great shoe. I just wanted a different color. I wear 7½ normally but 8 fit great in these shoes.

These are beautiful shoes from a company that makes great products. I have worn their mid-hikers in the past, and was hoping that I could wear the lower cut shoe for everyday adventures. I have small bones, and narrow heels. I found that I wore a size 8½ in these particular shoes. I usually buy a size 9. The shoes felt comfortable on my feet and fit well, but my heels popped out when I walked. If you have narrow heels, these shoes might not work for you.

Love love this shoe. I bought a pair a year and 2 months ago and wear them to work daily. I work in a very busy clinic and they are extremely comfortable. I have terrible bunions and the width of the toe box is perfect. These shoes are water proof which is extremely important as I work in urology and it can get messy, yet my feet stay dry. The only visible wear is in the heel. I purchased the eclipse and will still wear the old pair to hike about. I love this brand!

I bought these because although I run minimalist on roads, I needed something a little stiffer for hikes and runs on rocky roads. There is plenty of room in the shoe, and I felt very stable and comfortable. The only thing is the aubergine color made them look kind of clunky for some reason. Otherwise they are great!

I was looking for good hiking footwear that performed well, but looked good too. These are definitely both and Really great shoe and Zappos customer service helped me and was very impressive. Very happy with this purchase.

These are so comfortable! My previous hiking boots were Keen but these have got them beat. They fit great right out of box. I usually like to get wide but these do not come in wide. They are plenty wide enough and orthotics fit, too. I ordered up a half size.

I have worn these every day since I bought them a week ago. They were comfortable right out of the box. I have had plantar fasciitis in the past and currently have bunions, and these shoes are great because they have roomy toe space and decent arch support. Nice looking, too. I tried many different light hikers before I happily settled on these.

I usually wear an 8W, so I went with 8.5M. The width is great for my wide foot and the bit of length allows for fat socks. It's been raining buckets here and just this morning I walked the dogs and while most of the rest of us was wet, my feet were dry. The are a little snug across the top of my foot, but I Extremely high arches and where other brands cannot begin to make the grade (so to speak!) these do. Great colors too.

These shoes have a nice wide toe box and plenty of padding on the footbed so you do not feel every rock you hike over. I highly recommend them.

I bought these shoes 1.5 years ago and wore them pretty frequently, including all last winter for a 1 mile walking commute to my internship and all day on my feet. It is time to replace them & I am going for another pair identical to the first because they were comfy, supportive, stylish & all-around awesome.

Initially these felt tight in the toe box but I walked around in the house and they were fine. I have now trail hiked with them and worked a 12 hour day. They have been very comfortable.

I needed a pair of sturdy walking shoes that are waterproof for a trip to Peru. These are very light and comfortable. True to size and look nice.

The shoe felt good great right out of the box. I have had so much heel pain I am hoping this shoe will help. I will be wearing them every day to see if this helps my pain. Not extreme arch support but a great shoe so far.

Just received these yesterday, but already I can tell they will work! I have a very large Golden who enjoys a good walk ( so do I) and these shoes will be perfect. Living in New England means you need a shoe that's warm and waterproof so I know I'll enjoy these shoes. Good support and sturdy! I purchased a half size larger because it was recommended and they're great!

Finally, just what I was looking for: a waterproof, flexible walking or running shoe for a neutral stride, nice cushioning without feeling too soft, and color selections that don't look like a box of crayons threw up on my feet. Also, I've had problems with Ahnu running too small in other styles, but this was spot-on.

I purchased these shoes for hiking in CO. They were comfortable right out of the box. I like the fact that they are waterproof, and light weight. Good arch and very comfortable. I would purchase these again.

These shoes are amazing and comfortable right out of the box. I just returned from 12 days in Alaska, and these were my daily go-to shoes for excursions from bear watching in the rain forest, biking from mountain summit to sea, whale watching on the ship deck, tromping around Mendenhall Glacier, shopping, hiking, and more. These shoes felt like a good pair of running shoes for comfort and support. My feet were never tired or achy in these shoes. They are definitely waterproof, so the feet can get a little warm if the temp goes up which it doesn't do much in Alaska. They are more flexible than regular hiking shoes, and they are also very light weight. But the tread is perfect for hiking on trails, mud, or slippery docks. I purchased the monument light gray color with a subtle yellow trim. They matched my gray pants, capris, jeans, and black pants perfectly. My feet never resented going back into these shoes the next day for another adventure. They were a true fit for me. I have to size up a half size in all athletic shoes and hiking boots. I can wear an 8 in some flats and slip-ons, but I bought these in an 8.5. They were perfect. I commented several times to my hubby that these shoes fit and feel like my Asics running shoes. It can't get any better than that for a hiking shoe. I will wear these all winter and in the snow. I have a part time job for fun in retirement, and I work on concrete floors 4-5 hours at a time. These Ahnu shoes will be great. Thanks Zappos for your patience and assistance. It took me three tries to find the perfect hiking shoes, and the Ahnu Sugarpine waterproof is it!

Bought my first pair of Ahnu's Sugarpine last year and hiked in Yosemite for a week without any problems. I was very impressed with the level of support and comfort.

I loved this shoe in so many ways! But, alas, I had to send it back. I recently ordered 8 pairs of hiking shoes with the goal to try them all on at home, choose one, and send the rest back. In terms of looks and initial feel, this shoe was my favorite! But, for me, it ran a full size too small. I wear a size 11, which is their biggest size, and my foot was very cramped, both width-wise and length-wise. It's really too bad, because this shoe is adorable! I love the Red Dahlia color, and the waterproof canvas upper is appealing to both the eye and the sense of touch. It looked super cute on, too! But, there was no denying that this shoe, the Ahnu Sugarpine (waterproof) was considerably too small for my foot. It seemed to me, in wearing it around the house for about 20 minutes, that this Sugarpine would otherwise be one of the most comfortable shoes I had ever worn! It had great support, a wide and roomy toe bed, a thick, but lightweight sole. This was a very attractive hiking shoe that just happened to be too small. (Interestingly, the Ahnu Sugarpine Air Mesh (non-waterproof version) fit me like a dream! In fact, it may even have been a tad too loose. I ended up returning both Ahnu Sugarpines -- the waterproof one because it was too small, and the non-waterproof, Air Mesh, one because it felt SO roomy and comfortable that I questioned it's stability and comfort on miles and miles rocky or root-filled hiking surfaces. Ironically. However, I'm going to keep the Ahnu Sugariness Air Mesh in the back of my mind for the next time I feel the need to order a good hiking shoe!)

Love these. I was looking for a pair of good walking /hiking shoes and tried many (Merrel, Columbia, Keen, others) all were either too long and narrow, too fat, too heavy, too ugly, too something. But these fit! Are very comfortable with good support. And are nice looking. I've had them a few days and have walked in the city only so far, about two or three miles at a stretch without any issues. I've ordered another style of Ahnu to see if I like those too.
