These are beautiful boots (black soft vintage). I've had them for several weeks now and wear them at least twice a week. I got a good fit with a size 8 but I usually wear 8.5, so they seem a half size larger. Initially had some rubbing at the ankles due to the stiff leather at the bend and honestly it's still there, but much less bothersome. My only concern is that the edge of the sole "chipped," revealing a brown color (on a black boot, which is very noticeable) and the sole of that particular boot seems to be wearing out a lot faster than the other one. I also purchased the weatherproofing leather cream and it didn't change the leather.

Love these boots! They are absolutely beautiful and made with such great quality! The first day I wore them I had a few sore spots around the areas that needs to break in a little (ankles, top of the shin), but by the end of the day I could already feel a difference. Will definitely be a Frye's customer for life!

Wow, are these boots grogeous! I got them in Redwood Soft Vintage and they are a stunning reddish brown. They aren't too red, which is what I was nervous about. Breaking them in has been a process. I am between an 8.5 or a 9 if the toe box is too narrow, and I got these in an 8.5. For the record, I am a runner and have atheletic calves-15 inches at the widest part. The first time I tried to zip these, it was laughable. The boots were cold, but after the leather warmed up, they zipped. The foot felt pretty narrow, but I wore them around the house for about a week and now they are wonderfully comfortable. It feels like I have some arch support and the leather gets buttery soft. I love these boots!! If you are on the fence, get them... they are so lovely and I get many compliments!

These boots are just gorgeous! So pleased with them. I was wary about the price but Zappos had them $60.00 cheaper than the Frye site! I can see how they will mold to my leg the more I wear them. I have a normal calf but these are a snug fit, however, I can already feel the leather stretching after only a couple of wearings. These will definitely be my go-to boots going forward!

I can't get over how comfortable these are. When I first put them on, I thought they were too stiff, but after walking around in them in the house they softened up and by the end of the night I could have slept in them. I didn't want to take them off. I have had them several weeks, and I am very pleased that they don't rub my ankles and they continue to be remarkably comfortable. My boyfriend is tired of hearing me comment about how comfortable they are. They fit over jeans well and look nice with a skirt. I have high arches and these seem comfortable eventhough they do not have pronounced arches in the footbed. I got a 6.5 and it felt long at first but I know the 6 would be too tight. I normally wear 6.5 so I think it is just thar the style has a longer toe. I'd say they are true to size and the leather does loosen up.

Cute and stylish with all day comfort. A little tighter in the calf than I hoped, but manageable. My calves are average to thin in size, so if you are larger than average it might be too snug. The lining is questionable as to its durability as it appears to separate from the leather. Time will tell and I hope Zappos will stand behind these should something go awry. I haven't had any problems with my other Frye boots.

This is my third pair of Frye boots and I think they are my favorite! The Redwood color is a beautiful dark brown with red tones. I did have to go up a half size from what I usually get. The height of the boot is perfect as well, I am 5'8" and the boots come up to just under my knee.

I have narrow feet (size 9.5) and wider calves so can struggle to find the perfect fit. These fit perfectly and are really flattering! I considered several other Frye styles, but the inside zip and harness detail were the perfect mix of dressier and casual. As with all Frye boots, these were a bit snug in the calves for the first wear or two, but they stretch beautifully and now fit perfectly after only 3 wears. I have a standing desk at work and wear these all day with no discomfort. Perfect boots!

The quality of this boot is second to none. The leather is thick and the foot bed seems like it would be comfortable for walking. Unfortunately I had to return. The boot shaft is designed straight and not contoured. This makes the top of the boot too wide even though the calf fits fine. That might not be an issue for some so I still recommend based on the quality but I took away one star for style.

These boots are great. I debated about buying them because of the cost. But they are well worth it! They are well made and the leather is beautiful. Comfy and stylish with skirts, jeans, etc.

I have had these boots for a few years now. They took awhile to break in but have held up really nicely. Better than some of my other Frye's, although some of the stitching has began to unravel some. I use some of Frye's weatherproofing products and it has kept the leather nice. Great boots overall.

This is my 5th pair of Frye boots over the year- and these did not disappoint! The color is great, very versatile and the fit is true to size. Great with tights or skinny jeans. The only con would be the zipper snags on my tights when I cross my legs. A bit of a bugger, but not enough of a problem to return.

Absolutely gorgeous, beautifully made boot. Sadly, just not the right fit for my high-arched feet and runner's calves. Hung onto these for nearly a month, trying them on 4 or 5 times, wishing they would fit. Sigh.

Amazing fit! I run between a 7½ and 8 medium boot/shoe. I first tried the 7½ and found it a bit snug. The 8 is perfect. I have normal calves and ankles but wider feet and the 8 accommodated that perfectly. They are beautiful and come just below my knees. I am 5'4" and 140 pounds. I love these boots with jeans, tights and leggings.

Frye boots are the BEST! The Melissa Harness Inside Zip is a work of art! As usual, I ordered 1/2 size down from my usual shoe size. The boots will be a little tight at first, but Frye is high-quality leather, and it will stretch a little with wear. For me, the length is always generous and I have plenty of room in the toe box to go down 1/2 size. These boots are for ladies with longer and more narrow legs. There is also a pull tab on the very back. It's a beautiful addition to the boot, but if you don't have long legs (or at least long calves), the tab is going to hit the back of your knee awkwardly. I'm so happy with these boots! Santa came to see me a little early this year!! Frye boots- there is no substitute!

These are gorgeous boots. The quality of both the leather and craftsmanship are amazing. This is my second pair of Frye boots and I can't wait for boot season.

These boots fit true to size and are very comfortable. They do not pinch the toe, do not scrunch down at the ankle, and have incredibly soft leather. I searched for months for a replacement riding boot and these were the only ones that fit the bill.

I love these boots! I read some reviews and was a bit worried about the size, color and look of the boot. I purchased a size 8, burnt red and they look amazing (excellent quality). I struggle to find boots that fit my small calves. These fit and look great with a dress and jeans. They were a bit stiff, but they softened by the end of the day. I receive several compliments every time I wear them. I would definitely recommend them.

I am a solid 8.5M. I ordered my size and they were great right out of the box. The leather is lovely. You can see that it is a high quality boot. I did not feel any pressure points or discomfort. Highly recommend.

Beautiful boot that I am so sad to have to return! I have a 14" calf circumference and even with my jeans on, there is too much excess boot.

My favorite boots! Absolutely gorgeous, comfortable, and of excellent quality. I was afraid they would not fit well as I've tried other Frye Melissa styles. But these fit perfectly from the start. They look fabulous and I get compliments every time I wear them. Well worth the price! Many thanks to Zappos too. I ordered these on a Friday afternoon and they were at my door the following Monday. Simply amazing!

I absolutely love these! They were my favorite Christmas present. Fryes are my absolute favorites. I always feel that I am receiving great quality with Fryes and Zappos is wonderful in helping you get exactly what you need. I got these boots in the burnt red and absolutely love the color. It feels a little more unique when you are out and about.
