i was on the fence about 2x or 3x and per previous reviews i went w/ 2x but now wish i would have went w/ 3x. i just got my coat and tried it on w/ a t-shirt and shorts and its a little snug. so guess I'm gonna have to lose some weight cause I'm not gonna send it back.

I like the way this jacket fits, except for the hood. It fills up with wind and blows off. It would be great if it had an adjustable cord inside. We haven't had too many days below 30 yet, but I suspect this jacket won't do me much good under 20, especially if it is windy. Columbia didn't offer any temperature range with this product so I took a chance. I will still enjoy this jacket for a few months of the year, and maybe when I'm skiing or snowshoeing, but I will need to find something warmer for everyday wear December-February.

I bought this coat to wear when I travel to North Dakota in a few weeks. I wanted something long that would keep me warm in very cold temperatures. I am 5'0" tall and I normally wear a size 18. I had been reading the reviews that the size ran small so I initially ordered a 3X. It was huge on me so I returned it for a 2X. This was a good fit and I would have been able to do some layering underneath if I wanted too. My complaint with the coat is that it was a little too lightweight. I wore it outside here in Texas when it was just a little chilly with the wind blowing and I felt like it did not keep me warm. Also, the arms were too long. I really liked the thumb hole feature in the sleeves. If the sleeves fit right that would have been perfect for keeping my wrists warm after putting on gloves. The pockets were too low for me as well. With my short arms only my fingers fit inside the pockets when I was standing up. I ended up returning the 2X as well.

This jacket was perfect, longer, light, and warm.. When i get this jacket, i could NOT zip the zipper up without it taking 6 tries. I went and ordered another jacket. It was the same size but to tight,. Zipper was still a issue. Columbia come on, you have to produce quality to get quality. BUMMER!!!!!

I bought the Mighty Lite jacket to replace the same jacket I bought 3 years ago and the zipper broke. I purchased the same size that was roomy on the old jacket (1X) . The new jacket is snug in the arms and shoulders and slimmer across the middle as well. The zipper does not work as well as the previous coat either. Very disappointing.

Tight arms. Not enough room for hips. Felt more like a men’s jacket. Does not fold up small.

I purchased this for a recent trip to Iceland. I thought with base layers it would keep me warm and dry. Wrong on both counts. The temps were from the 20s to low 30s, with lots of rain, sleet and snow. I wore a silk base layer along with a merino wool base layer and a down vest under the coat but was cold all the time. The rain resistant feature lasted for about 10 minutes before it soaked up. The hood is large and the wind repeatedly blew it off, so I wore a hat and scarf too. I wish I had bought a regular parka instead. Apparently this coat is no longer made, which is a good thing. The color, however, (camellia red) is gorgeous.

I live in Wisconsin and need a jacket that can keep me warm in any kind of weather. I read all the reviews and decided on this one. They didn't have this in my store. But because I've had so many awesome Columbia coats in the past, I thought I would take a chance and order online.
As several readers suggested, I ordered a size larger than normal. When the coat arrived, it was much too big. I am a 14/16 and ordered a 2X.
Also, it is so thin. Unless I put on several layers underneath, there's no way this will keep me warm through the blustery winter. I'm returning and ordering the Voodoo Falls Turbo Down. Will rate once I receive it, as well.

I really wanted this jacket to work but I ended up returning it based on a couple different features.
I ordered a 2x based on reviews that the jacket ran a little small. The fit was perfect through the shoulders and bust area but was too large through the hips and below. The weight of the jacket was perfect, great for the fluctuating winter temps in Colorado.
I would have liked a drawstring for the hood as well as around the bottom so those features could be cinched in on colder/windier days.

while i was thrilled to see columbia is branching out to the plus sizes, they still have a lot to learn about tailoring to the plus size body. first lesson - my head is not the size of an elephant just because i have some extra junk in my trunk - this hood is completely unusable and I'm forced to literally hold it up if I would to shield my face from the wind and the rain. Second lesson - my wrists are not the same size as my elbow - the sleeves barely tapper and im left with a fistful of extra fabric at my wrists. Aside from fit, im disappointed about the finishing of the collar - every other jacket i have from Columbia (and i have quite a few) the interior collar is something soft and comfortable to the touch - this jacket has the same finish on the interior collar as the exterior so it feels as if i have a wet plastic bag on my face - which is extra wet due to the ineffective hood. this jacket lacks the attention to detail i have previously received from Columbia products and if they made another long jacket in a plus size i would return it in a heartbeat. I am extra disappointed that in the making of this plus size jacket Columbia designers seemed to have forgotten the aspects that make their products great - i hope they are reading this and will make a product i want to buy.

Wear a 16-18. purchased the 2x based upon reviews saying runs small (I found otherwise). I was going to return for smaller size. Then, gave test: In very unsheltered area, 27 degrees w 30mph consistent wind, while wearing light shirt... I felt wind come right through the jacket. I think it may be better with a wool sweater or something. But, for this price I would expect it should handle a bitter fall day. Not quite! Size: Top area, shoulders above chest fit ok despite being much larger than my size. But the waist and hips bell way out. So, maybe runs small up high and true to size (way too big for me) down further (and I have a gut). Was going to return for smaller size but, after stood in wind... feeling disappointed. It would not handle below zero without really good bottome layer(s). Loose Hood has no adjustment mechanism. So is more for over other hats scarves. Blows off. The lightweight fabric and breathable concept is great! So it's sad to part with because it was exactly what I thought I had been looking for (and still am) breathable, hood, not too short. in plus size.

I received this coat as part of a Christmas present. It was very warm, but within a month of receiving it, the zipper fell off the jacket. I like it was poorly made, and wish I had gotten alot more use out of it than I did.

I am a plus size woman and it did not fit me very well my measurements are 2x but I had to return and get 3xl. Also mines could have been defective but the lining inside is suppose to be shiny and it wasn't keeping me warm at all. I had high hopes for the jacket!

The coat itself is great but unfortunately it's not true to size. The coat runs too small. I usually wear an X-Large and I ordered this coat in a 1x. The coat was too tight and I could barely zip it up.

I bought a second jacket in a different color but this is extremely thin and did not keep me warm like the previous year version. Granted this year I bought plus size because I wear really thick sweaters but I froze in the Chicago winter with this one. I will continue to wear the earlier version which kept me warm.

They took a large piece of fabric and added arms & a hood.. Absolutely no shape to the coat. I could have made that coat myself.

You would think that for an athletic clothing company, they would actually make clothing for athletic people I am 5' 10", I have larger boobs and my 10 year old xl jacket does not fit anymore after having kids. I ordered the 2x as per your size chart the shoulders and chest are way too small and the waist and the hips are like a freaking tent! And sleeves are too short! I will be returning. Your sizing needs to revisted.

I bought this coat based on reviews and the fact it is supposed to keep warm. I walk my dogs twice a day, every day, winter, summer, spring, fall, no matter how cold.
Let me start by saying I'm in the midst of menopause and I've got plenty of body heat. I don't even sleep with blankets half the time.
I felt like I was walking around naked and afraid.
There was no heat to be had, no protection from the wind or cold.
The only good thing about this coat are the thumb holes so I didn't have zero degree winds blowing up my arms.
I think about the only time of year this coat would be good might be early spring.
I wouldn't recommend this coat if you're trying to stay warm. Even with layers, it's not going to do the trick.
It will be returned tomorrow.
