This coat is perfect for me. I love that it is warm but lightweight and not bulky. I only wish the hood would stay up without having to zipper it all the way.

This coat is nicely fitted and I like the deep rust color. So far I've been wearing it in colder fall temps down to around 30 degrees and it is doing a good job keeping me warm. I was hoping it would work all winter on its own but am expecting to have to add another layer as temps get colder in Wisconsin this winter. Sleeves are not super roomy so my extra layer will probably have to be a vest. I'm about 5'9" and sleeves are just long enough. I think it was likely designed for temps above 20 degrees, not 20 degrees below zero. Overall I like it and have gotten compliments when I wear it.

Great length for the winter. I really enjoy that it is light weight and does not add a lot of bulk, however I am skeptical that it will keep me warm on a really cold day in Wisconsin (since I have received the jacket it has not been really cold). The color was not as deep of a red as I was hoping for. It almost has a slight pink hue, but it is not an awful color. The zipper is a little tricky at times, but it is manageable. The thumb holes are too short for me to use, but I do like that it fits snugly around my wrists. The sizing seems to be very off. I did my measurements and ordered a 2X per the size chart. I am a curvy girl and so I was concerned about the jacket being tight across the bust and at the hips. I decided to trust the size chart and order the 2X vs the 1X my gut told be to buy. Both the hip area and bust area have TONS of extra space. Even when I wear a scarf tucked in and a bulky top the chest area is not tight. Wishing I would have ordered a smaller size, but other than that it seems like a great addition to my wardrobe!

I bought the coat as I get tired of lugging around a bulky coat and / or layers. I live and work near the IL / WI border.
When the temp dropped (unusual for this time of yr) to below 10degrees, I was able to test it quickly.
With the usual scarf, hat and gloves, I was ok but it definitely let some of the cold in. I think it depends on your tolerance of cold as to what you want from this.
Most of the winter we are looking at 20s and 30s and I think it will be fine for that.
I ordered a plus size, 3x, because it saw it ran small. I'm about a 22/24 top and it just fits. The thumb holes tug and the inserts holding that in aren't quite long enough.
Don't let any of this deter you from the coat as far as quality. Columbia is a champ when it comes to coats and I'm a bit of a whiner when its cold. The coat is made of great material and is solidly manufactured. I just think I found its limitations quickly.
If it helps anyone, I'm 5'10", size 22/24 top, and obviously a big lady. The coat falls just below my hips and I'm long in the torso.

I bought 2 coats at the same time - this one & the 'Sweet As' Long Softshell - in the same size. It is remarkable how differently they fit.
FIT - This coat runs at least a size small - maybe a size and a half. I ordered up, because of the reviews (normally wear a 2X in Columbia, and ordered a 3X), and am so glad I did. It fits - but there isn't any spare room at all. I don't think I could even comfortably wear a heavy sweater underneath it. It is snug across my shoulders and tops of my arms, but not to the point of hinderance. The sleeves are verging on too short -- the little cuff with the thumb hole (which I LOVE) does pull at my thumb if I am moving around at all.
FABRIC - This coat is crazy light. This makes me crazy happy. The outside is slick, but not shiny, and the reflective interior is not only handy when wearing something a little rough (waffle weave anything that wants to grab all other liners), but does the job of keeping me warm in spite of the thinness. It isn't totally wind blocking, but does a fair job, and I haven't yet worn in any kind of wet. The cuffs are a thin, stretchy, smooth poly fabric that feels good against my wrist and hand. The pockets are fleecy lined. I wore it down into the low 30's with a steady wind, and was fine, tho I could feel a bit of the wind wanting to creep in. I think w a decent (thin) base layer & a shirt, it could be worn into the 20's with no issues.
COLOR/STYLE - I have nocturnal, which has since sold out. It's a gorgeous deep, true blue, almost navy color. The double zipper is heavy, & seems like it will wear well. The shape of this is good, even running small - body skimming, not bulky.
WISHES - I will always wish for a better fitting hood. I don't understand why there can't be adjustments on them. Are there really that many very long-necked, big-headed people? I wish the thumb hole on the cuff were more envelope style, instead of like a button hole - I find those to be much less binding and comfortable.
In spite of the smallness of size - I do love this coat. I'm glad I got the chance to wear it in the last gasp of winter that we're having.

This is my first experience wearing a Mighty Lite. I get cold very easily. I was impressed with how this coat retained it's warmth. I will buy this coat for my granddaughter.

This is a great coat, very light and warm. However
it does run just a little small. I would recommend it to others in perhaps a size larger than a person normally wears.

I ordered the 1X after reading the reviews however it was HUGE. I went back to order the XL instead but it is no longer available. The jacket is great - light weight, warm, great in a big rain storm. Perfect length just above the knees. I am 5'6" and 150lbs. Love the jacket just wish I had ordered the XL while it was available.

Love the color, size, length. Wish the hood had someway to close, when windy and needing it to be up.

I really like this jacket. It's the perfect length for me - almost down to my knees and is so light and easy to move around in. I find I'm very comfortable when the weather is in the 20s or even in the teens with my sweatshirt on underneath. My only complaint is that it has no drawstring for the hood. I think if it had that, I would be more comfortable in the lower temperatures, but without it, the wind just whips right in. I have to wear a stocking hat and scarf underneath the hood to help keep out the wind, which works well as long as it's not too windy.

I have only had it a short time but used it during the 1st snow storm in Northern Michigan and I was warm, no wind came through it, and I stayed dry in the wet sleeting blowing snow. I was out for about an hour each time and it was great!!!! I love that I couldn't feel the wind that was whipping all around me. If I have any complaints its that it runs a little small in the breast area I'm a (D cup) just FYI but still comfy enough and definitely warm enough!

I am an outdoor person daily who walks my dog. After reading reviews I ordered one size up as suggested, and found the coat to be too big. I live in Upper Michigan on Lake Superior and often layer under winter jackets, so I definitely will have room for that. The hood is large too, even with a hat underneath it, so I found it blowing off my head in the wind. Because the overall weight of the coat is light- I was skeptical about it's ability to be warm. And, honestly, the first time I wore this coat I did not warm up quickly while walking my dog. However after some activity I did warm up. The length is nice and covers my bum and legs, so that helped with keeping warm, also. I will use this coat for milder days, reserving my "heavy duty, heavy weighted" coat for the days outside that are really frigid.

This is my 1st Columbia jacket. I had to wait a whole year to get my jacket. It sold out in my size last year. I wanted a light jacket that would keep me warm but not be bulky. I looked around at the stores, but I wanted the omni heat lining. Winter will be starting soon and now I'm ready.

I love this jacket. I bought it a few weeks ago and I love it. Its lightweight and easy for any day. I live in Chicago and I have no doubt that it will work through our tough winter! Only suggestion I could make is if you get hot easily dont over layer. It truly reflects your body heat back because I've been burning up a few times (I get hot easily) and it's definitely using my body heat against me sometimes! Also I am almost 5'10 and it's nice to have something that actually long enough for me.
The other drawback is the hood! There's no way to fit it to your head so if there is wind it will just blow right off. Not the greatest thought in that design and is actually a fairly big thing to consider when living in the windy city.
Now, does anyone know how to wash these?

I really like this jacket, I worn it in a rainy And very windy day and eventhough it wasnt raining cats and dogs or extremely cold it keep me dry and warm.
I would have to wait till the temperatures drop a little bit more to really put it to the test.

I ordered a 2x based on the description that it fits slightly small. It was actually a little bit roomy. I think I'll keep it anyway and just wear big sweaters under it. It is very light weight and does the job at keeping you very warm and cozy. My only complaint is mainly the size and I think I'll order this in a smaller size next time.

Really happy with the purchase. The quality is really good. Light weight and style is awesome. I am 5'6" with pear shape. I ordered 1X and this coat fit well. I can zip it up! Only compliant is quality of the zipper is not that good. Yes I would recommend this coat to large women.

I was a bit hesitant to order this in a 1X, but glad I did. This is the first Columbia jacket that fits me properly. All the other 1X jackets/coats are too tight in the hips and the 2x ones too big. I'm 5'4 and a size 18ish with short arms. Plenty of room if you have t & a! Hoping the seams hold up because there are so many areas where the stitching could fail. This jacket is super warm and very flattering.

I am very happy with this coat with the exception that it is rather not true to size. I will have to return it for a smaller size. Otherwise it is a very nice coat.

I have used this coat as an everyday coat since it arrived and am glad I purchased it. The coat runs small so order 1 size up, however the arms are long. I am about 5' 8 and normally wear a 2x but after trying on in the store I knew to order the 3x. My first impression of the extended cuff with thumb loops was that I would hate them and they would be in my way all the time. However, I am actually enjoying them. They keep out the wind and cold and help keep the hands warm on days when you don't have your gloves. I have worn the coat in the 40's and not been too hot in it even wearing it when running into the grocery store, and worn it in the 10's and still been comfortably warm. It is very lightweight and I love that. I cannot drive in a coat that is bulky and this has been perfect. My one complaint would be that the hood will not stay on if there is any wind at all, unless you zip the zipper all the way up. Overall, this is a great lightweight but warm coat and I am happy with my purchase.

Great coat, will definitely keep you warm. Only issue I had was the sizing. I purchased the 3X so that I could wear bulky sweaters, for the most part the fit was ok, but the arms were tight & just made it uncomfortable to wear. Ended up returning & going with a different brand. If there were a 4X, I might have exchanged.

I just got this in the mail today. I have been anticipating it all week, and based on reviews I didn't know if it would work or not.
1) very lightweight
2) I can move easily in it
3) I took my measurements and could have actually gone down a size. It's a little big but not worth returning
4) of course it was snowing last week and now it's 40 degrees but so far it's been great- true test will come later I'm sure

I ordered this jacket because I wanted a black hooded jacket that was a longer length. I don't like the one put out by another popular company because it's so bulky. This one has a much cuter shape and also has thumbholes in the cuff. It's a very thin material, but seems quite warm. I live in New England, and I think it will work out really well. I should say that I'm typically a 14/16 (L/XL) in clothes, but I find that Columbia runs tight through the hips. If you have hips and are around that size, I recommend ordering the 1X. It may be a bit roomy in the chest, but otherwise it's wonderful.
