I have ordered this item shoe several times, and get good wear out of them. Comfortable enough for casual wear, looks good enough to wear out in day errands, and even some gatherings. The hook-and-loop fastenings are so much easier to use than any kind of laces, as the fit may be adjusted so much more easily. And they are easy to keep up.

Purchased for my dad. He has an older model of this shoe and this one is slightly different. The tongue of this shoe hangs down and imprints his foot. We exchanged once thinking this was a defect, the second pair also hangs down and pushes against his toes. Overall it's a decent shoe.

After buying very comfortable running shoes from New Balance I was happy to try a walking shoe from the same company I had become loyal too. I wanted a fully closed shoe for the cold at night. These looked perfect, but the fit is awful, They bend in and bunch on the top of your feet as you walk and are very uncomfortable and they don't have any of the fit feel I was used to with other New Balance products. Based on my experience I would not recommend purchasing these online as I did without a long trial walk.

I am 69 years old and walk about 1 hour ever other day to stay healthy. I have tried many different walking shoes and in my opinion, the NB 577 is the best walking shoe on the planet. Very reasonable price for a shoe of such fine quality. Additionally, they are "Made in the USA." I always keep a new pair in the closet for future use. I highly recommend this product!

I buy these for my father every year. He wears a foot brace and the velco is key to giving him that extra room needed and ease of putting on. at highly recommend for older men.

The shoes are comfortable but as many have noted the straps are way to short. I bought these for my husband in a wide because his feet are swollen. They fit in width but I can barely attach the velcro straps.

These are the only shoes that I have bought in the last several year, and I wear them for most everything, including as dress shoes (I can't find any dress shoes that will fit my feet due an instep that is high and far forward on my foot). These shoes wear very well compared to most other shoes that I have purchased. They are also comfortable and provide good support for my feet. Because feet vary, these shoes may not work for all people, but they are certainly worth serious consideration.

I have worn this last for several years and they are always comfortable. This is my first pair with a velcro closure. They are very convenient. However there are two construction problems. The velcro straps are not mounted so that they point directly at the slot opening. As a result, when closed, there is a slight bulge at the attachment point. No one will notice but I consider it a construction error. The second problem is more irritating. the sole not the left shoe squeaks when I walk. A comfortable shoe with some quality problems.

I am a long-time NB customer. These shoes, unfortunately, fall short of the usual NB high quality. They have a flimsy construction, provided poor support, dug into my feet, and the loops are very short. I sent them back for a refund. Definitely do NOT recommend.

I have 2 pairs of 840 walking shoes but liked the fact that the 577's are USA assembled and are real leather. they fit well and I especially like the comfort insert. sizing seems same as the 840's

I used to own the New Balance 928, and while they were very high quality, comfortable, and lasted for years, the Roll Bar didn't play well with my feet, so I needed something that had all the 928 comfort and dependability but no rollbar. I tried the other two major models of NB walkers, but neither fit that well (my narrow heel slips out of shoes if I can't tighten them enough).
The 577 with the velcro straps fits perfectly, and wearing them at my job, which requires walking on concrete for about 3-4 miles every day, they are a life-saver. Make sure to change out the insoles for something good and squishy if you buy these; there is definitely as much room as advertised in the shoe for such things. I'm going to try the lace-up version next, but I will definitely be buying the 577 from now on!

Where the tongue was sewn on has extra material that presses down on my toes which is painful after a long day on my feet.

Usually every New Balance shoe I have ever purchased has been spot on. This time slightly narrow. I should have purchased wide.

This is my third pair of this shoe. I wore the first pair which was white until they were worn out. I bought a second pair in bone color to dress up a little bit. Finally, I bought another white pair. I love the comfort, ease of putting on and taking off, and the price is very fair. They are worth the money and the New Balance website makes it easy to find just the right size I wear. I am a diabetic, so the fit of my shoes is very important. I would recommend this shoe to any other diabetic.

As a tall, big man with hammertoes, this shoe works very well for my husband. The toe box is roomy, the extra width just the ticket. This is the second pair of this style he has bought. As for style, comfort trumps style any day when you're retired!

I rated this shoe a three, for a walking shoe they should be more comfortable than they are. After about 2 hours on my feet, my feet ache more than I feel they should. I had more comfort in a pair of $19 Dickies from Costco then these.

On my 3rd pair. They definitely eliminated any ankle/foot pain experienced by cheaper sneakers. The Velchro tie is the best also. Was advised to go a half size larger than normal size and was right thing to do.

These sneakers are the only sneakers I've worn for at least 15 years, maybe more! I wear orthodics and have bad feet but like to walk a lot. I recommend them highly. I even wear the black ones for work.

Had to order twice as the usual size I wear shoe was not long enough, had to go half size longer. I have a very wide foot so I am glad to find style and width to fit me.
