An excellent walking shoe. In fact, having tried and used many walking shoes through the years as an avid walker, I have to say this is the best. It is durable and experiences slow wear on the soles, unlike many walking shoes that quickly wear to one's walking gait. It is also very comfortable and give my feet a solid sense of support as I walk. I will continue to order this shoe for walking.

This is a great shoe and fits very well if you know they run a half to a full size small. I bought a 14/4E (I normally wear a 13) and found them to be a perfect fit. Since they are a padded/insulated walking shoe they appear fairly large, but they are very comfortable.

These are really comfortable and I would love them if they didn't have holes in them after only six months. I thought I tore the right one at work soon after I bought them, but now the left one has broken exactly the same way so I think it is a design flaw in the way the leather is cut.

Zappos is awesome! Ordered my shoes & got them the next day. They were exactly what I wanted & needed for work. I stand up all day in a plant & they are extremely comfortable. They are true to size. I like the fact they carry bigger & wider sizes. This will be my go to place. Happy with my purchase & their great customer service.

This shoe fit my husband perfectly. He needs a narrow width which is so hard to find, and this is a shoe he can wear all day in comfort.

My doctor “prescribed” these shoes to wear for 4-6 weeks while my sprained ankle healed. I’m a woman but I ordered a men’s size and the size and width conversion information I found here was helpful. My feet and ankle feel supported and for my first two weeks wearing them I’ve noticed less pain. I like that all materials are black since I have to wear these at work with nice pants. Since no sneakers are allowed in my office, I had to get a doctor’s note.

These shoes are very comfortable to walk in, but they have been very disappointing in terms of wear. See my photos. They are pulling apart on the inseam where the shoe material is attached to the sole. In the photos, I included some of the bottom of the shoe so it is apparent they are not worn out or aged enough to understand this happening. I have several pair of hiking/walking shoes so I do not wear these all the time. Quite disappointing that they have worn this badly and I will not be buying these again.

The fit is good... it's a very heavy duty well-made shoe... not very stylish though...

I have flat feet and an extremely narrow heel. These shoes fit very well and seem to reduce post-workout pain.

I have bought four pairs of these walking shoes, only one in black. They are very comfortable for everyday and for walking a distance. I pull out the arch supports and put in Powerstep Protech Pro inserts. I change those every six months.

Product was just as pictured.Fit was true and quite a comfortable sneaker for evryday use.

I have these New Balance MW577 in both lace-up and hook and loop (Velcro) closure. The fit is about the same. Both fit well. The Velcro is easier on and off. But, the lace-up looks less clunky. And, the Velcro straps collect lint and debris.

I needed a pair of shoes to allow me to walk at lunch time whilst wearing somewhat formal office wear. These fit the bill just perfectly. Dark color, a bit discreet (tennis shoes just don't look right with dress slacks), and quite comfortable. I typically do a 4-5 mile walk and have no complaints with this shoe so far. Feels great, excellent support, good for longer wear.

I ordered the above product in a size 10 width b. A size 8 and 1/2 width D was delivered. The rep that I spoke to apologized and guaranteed that I would receive the correct size the next day. It was. The rep was very pleasant, listened to my problem, and immediately fixed it. And offered me a coupon for my inconvenience. Zappos has a great staff of support associates.

Have purchased two pair over past two years, for walking purposes. Fine shoe except the heel inside wears through very quickly causing a roughness and irritation of my heels. Both pairs the same. Probably not more than 500 miles walking on each pair. Poor performance. Otherwise the shoes show little wear.

USA made! One of the few left making shoes in the USA. I applaud them for that. Good quality and I will keep buying New Balance!

I've got these in white twice and I've gotten 1 to 1.5 years out of them, although the last couple months they'd be coming apart on the sides. This time I got the black and eight months later, and not with heavy use, they are already coming apart at the seams. I get the EE width because normal width shoes are to narrow. Perhaps I need to go wider, but that might sacrifice fit. I like these because they are at least assembled in the U.S.; I can't afford shoes 100% made in the U.S. I will try gluing the seams to prolong the life of the shoes but I'm disappointed they didn't last longer. However, this is my third straight pair so overall I've been happy with them.

I usually wear a 10.5, had to return these for a 11. These are really comfy shoes. I like the way they feel on my feet. My gripe is appearance. I've had them about a year and a half now and they look so bad I don't really wear them anywhere except around the house. All the white leather had turned a grubby grey color. The soles and foot bed are still in great shape. It's a shame they look so bad now. Maybe that's all you can expect for white tennis shoes but I was hoping for more.

These were wider than normal and the toe area looked like clown shoes. Very wide and round. I found another pair and the same size at a local store that didn't have the clown look. Maybe New Balance cannot make two pair look the same. Need better quality control.

I purchased this a year ago but have always been disappointed that at the bottom of my toes these shoes are very uncomfortable. They are long lasting but I have never felt comfortable in them. I would not purchase them again.

I’ve been wearing the 577s for about 9 years and just bought my 6th pair, and the toe box is not the same anymore. I have wide feet and need a 4E. I also have chronic knee pain from an old injury, in addition to arthritis in my knees which just makes it worse (and living in NYC means I walk a lot). These shoes used to provide the width that I needed, with added stability that made walking a little easier. The last pair I just bought had a toe box that was visibly narrower and slightly pointier, and when I wore them I got blisters on my big, second, and pinky toes. This has never happened before. Thank goodness I didn’t get rid of my old pair because I put the insoles from the new shoes in the old shoes and am wearing those for the time being. Whoever at New Balance made this bad decision….you may end up losing a customer of 20 years.

Zappos took these back when I noticed they squeaked when I walk. I tried a second pair - same squeaking! I am of average weight and so there's clearly an issue with at least some of these shoes. In addition, the leather is stiff and the tongue very bulky. This might add to comfort but I didn't like it.

While I've always been a big fan of New Balance, the MW577 did not work for me. The sole construction favors the heel which in my case caused some sliding of the foot forward resulting in toe pinching. I stand 8 hours a day for work and ultimately could not wear this model. I ended up purchasing the Nike Air Monarch which has great cushioning and a more traditional fit.
