Love the styling, just too loose in the heel in my normal size even with heavy trekking socks.

Nice shoe, and I'd love to like it - but like many hiking shoes - the woman's 11 is not a true 11 and it seems is really just there for women who are a size 10 to be able to feel good about giving themselves a little extra room in the toe box. Disappointing for someone with size 11 feet.

I am trying these because I want a truly waterproof hiking shoe, not a boot. This is my first time with Ahnu. My previous Merrills were a bit clunkier, but great for hiking, however the waterproof quality died after 6 months. A friend told me Ahnu was better, so here goes. I ordered a half size up to get the right fit with thick socks. The fit is looser in the heel than I am used to, but I seem to be able to tighten the laces to help with that, although the laces sometimes seem to slowly loosen up as I walk. The shoes are more low-cut than I am used to also, so if you want higher around the ankle you might try the higher shoes to start with. Overall very comfortable out of the box. I am very happy with the quality and the leather-type construction and if they stay waterproof for more than 6 months I will have found the perfect shoe.

Pleasantly light weight shoe. I have narrow feet and saw other reviewers had mentioned it fit their narrow feet. I liked the shoe and the width was good but 10.5 was too small. I reordered an 11 but it felt exactly the same as the 10.5?! So returned them both. No 11.5 at Zappos.

Perfect shoe, reviews right on. Light hikers see too hard soled for me, but I have high arches and need cushioning in forefoot. These were foot saving in a rugged hike in rain in Ireland. Personally, leather can get too hot, but if you need waterproof, comfort, support, this is a good deal. People stop to ask us about them, very good looking too, can work transitioning to urban walking with no problem. Athletic shoes 7.5 worked as my running shoes do.

I found this shoe oddly tight across the top of the toes and the top of the foot, even in the larger of the two sizes that I ordered. My foot is small, flat and bony so I usually have the opposite problem. At the same time, the shoe is loose around the collar and I get a fair amount of heel slippage. I wish the fit were better for me, because this is a really good looking and well made walking shoe.

I loved these shoes, returned the original pair because the left one creaked! However the fit and design are so good I'm exchanging for another pair. Do order up 1/2 size, as the other reviewers noted.

These shoes have a high instep and very prominent arch support, for someone with high arches. Mine are low and I was conscious of bumps under my arches when I walked. They have a nice wide toe box, though.

I like these shoes so far. I have super narrow feet and they are bit roomy on me but I will just wear slightly thicker socks. I like the large toe box. I will also need to lace them up a bit tighter. I love the Forest Night color. I loved the other colors as well but need them for travel so opted for something that blended with my clothes.

Great looking shoe that could be worn for every day wear, not just hiking. First pair I ordered in my normal size (6.5) and it was very large. Exchanged for a 6 which fit much better. I walked in the shoe on the treadmill at the gym for half an hour. The shoe runs wide and I had slippage in the heel. The material in the Chocolate Chip color was a lovely color, but the shoe is stiff and seems like it would take a long time to break it in. I kept a Columbia brand shoe and returned this one. Thanks Zappos for making shoe shopping online so convenient.

I needed a comfortable pair of hiking boots which were lightweight and easy to get on and off with good tread/traction. I took a chance and ordered these. I have worn them in severe wintery conditions and I feel safer while walking outdoors.

This shoe had to fill a tall order, replace my leather Timberland Outlier shoe (now discontinued) that I had worn nearly every day for 5 years. I tried three other shoes from Zappos before keeping these, appreciating the quick and easy return policy. They're a little more casual than the Outlier, but very comfortable from the start, no break-in required. Great for hiking and OK for casual wear around town and restaurants. I like the ease of the lacing to tighten and loosen the shoe depending on thickness of socks. Water beads up and I anticipate wearing them throughout an Upstate NY winter. I am a male with small feet and on occasion buy women's shoes and this is one of those times. Gratefully the color and style looks fine.

This shoe/boot is short in the length. The sole feels supportive. Ordering another size. Like the blue color, but not available for me.

This was a cute shoe for a hiker. I really wanted it to work but unfortunately the location of the seams just fell right over the joint behind my big toe. As I have problems with that joint, it makes it impossible for me to keep them. It hurt a little just to try them on. The toe area was also just a little narrower and tighter than I was used to in a hiker when I might have swelling from walking a lot. It does seem to be accurate in sizing -- just cut differently than the New Balance I have used most recently. I did notice that this shoe is much lighter (weight) than my other hikers in the past. Unfortunate it didn't work for me. Oh, I ordered the chocolate chip color with the brown and black...really a cute idea. Wish I could get that in a shoe that worked for me!

Very cute shoe got lots of compliments from the minute I put them on. I used them on a trip to France with some light hiking. They were great - glad to have waterproof shoes. There is a tiny amount of stitching that is for looks, but one of them broke on the trip - so not so functional.

Amazingly, this shoe really fits my feet well. I have very narrow feet with small toes that makes it hard to stay put in shoes. There's no sliding around in these shoes and the stability it provides climbing downhill and uphill is incredible. The terrain here is very crumbly loose dry dirt so shoes with great traction are essential. Unlike another reviewer, I found this shoe's lacing to keep tied and not loosen. In fact, this lacing allows quicker adjustment when first putting on these shoes than a lot of other hiking shoes. I'll probably order another pair, so as to have a back-up pair since it's so hard for me to find hiking shoes that easily adjust to my AA feet.

I normally wear a 10N and I bought an 11M in this shoe. A 10.5 would probably have fit if I wore these with a thin/normal sock. I wanted to wear this with thick (or 2 pairs) socks. So far, they keep my feet warm and dry in the snow and slush. They're a nice looking shoe for casual wear and walking or standing.

I saw it in a local store -- they didn't have my size, but Zappos did. The 8.5 was too snug, so I returned them for a 9. My heel slips in the 9, so I bought an insert, which seems to help the problem. This is not a hiking shoe for me -- just a cute shoe to wear with jeans around town. I would have to try another brand for a better fit if I were to do any actual hiking.

I bought these shoes about three weeks prior to leaving for Europe. I wore them for short walks and felt they were comfortable. On my first day in Europe, my toes went numb. I loosened the laces, but the problem continued. By my third day in Switzerland, I was forced to purchase a new pair of hiking shoes. I purchased a pair of North Face trekers and was able to walk pain free for the remainder of my trip. Although these are a nice looking pair of shoes, I found them very uncomfortable. I was very disappointed that after spending over a $100, I now have a pair of shoes that I can't wear.

These are always good shoes, but I prefer the Montara I. The lacing system is not as good on this new one and they easily come untied. I started knotting them. Also, I wear these as an urban shoe, often with work clothes and the Montara I had a slightly sleeker look. Otherwise, they are sturdy, well-cushioned and great for walking right out of the box.

These are just OK. Somehow they feel heavier and bulkier and less comfortable than the Ahnu ankle boot. I've worn the ankle boots for several years, and they're supremely comfortable. I wanted to have something I could wear when ankle boots aren't required, and hoped this style would be the answer. But they feel stiff and bulky, and make the foot look longer. Not a big fan, but I'll give credit where credit is due -- as is characteristic of this brand, they appear to be very well made. And, at least in my experience with the ankle boots, they should hold up to wear extremely well.

These looked like something an old woman with thick ankles would wear. Big and clunky. Did not like

The Ahnu Montara II is not as comfortable as the 2 other Ahnu styles I wear (Montara Boot and Sugarcane Air Mesh). This shoe runs smaller and tighter.

I love the style of these shoes. In fact, I loved them so much that I ended up getting two pairs, brown and black. They are very comfortable as well. However, they did not hold up as well as I would like and the soles are slippery on a smooth, wet surface not something I would expect from a waterproof hiking shoe. The arch support is adequate but not super. Do I still wear them? Yes, and I will until they completely fall apart but I tend not to wear them in wet weather and frankly expected more for the price.

I wanted to love these. I love the leather, I love the color, I love that they are waterproof. I normally wear an 8.5 and as per the advice of some of the other reviews, I ordered a half size up. For length, I would have been fine with my normal size. But even with a half size up, they felt snug across the widest part of my foot. I don't have a particularly wide foot, but I do have a bunion and I steer clear of snug shoes as they tend to cause excruciating pain. I normally buy wide width shoes whenever they are available, so I don't have to worry about the too snug issue. Being leather, I suppose they would stretch, and I would have considered keeping them, except that the very top part of the heel dug in on one of the shoes and hurt in the few minutes I had them on. Unfortunately, that was the deal breaker. I am so sad that these didn't work out for me.
