I really love the length, the warmth, the color and almost everything about this jacket. The only thing that I would want other buyers to be aware of is the zipper can be a pain in the butt. It is fine sometimes and I thought it just needed to be used more but it can get irritating. It works, it is just hard to get started.

I was hoping this jacket was as warm as a shorter version I had bought years ago. It was not as warm. It has the same reflective lining and is just as light but something is different because it is definitely not as warm.

Maybe I'm out of touch but I thought there would be more to this coat for the money. It's a bit thin; not sure it would serve in lower temps but I haven't had an opportunity to test that. It's nice looking and very light so overall, I'm satisfied.

This jacket is super cute (great color + the cut is really flattering), and comfortable (the length is great, it doesn't ride up, and the thumb holes at the wrists are awesome for keeping cold air out). However, it's not quite as warm as some of these reviews (and the packaging) will have you believe. It was 16 degrees f this morning and I was glad I had my North Face underneath this coat because I was still chilly. For prolonged outdoor periods in 30 degrees or below, I'll probably stick with my Burton jacket until I can afford a super warm Patagonia or Marmot. But for walking from my apartment to car and car to work, I'll be wearing this super cute, stylish number. Great deal too!

Bought the jacket to wear when visiting Boston. Was warm but not as warm as I expected. Need a warm layer underneath for winter

Dealing with Michigan winters, this coat is great. Light in weight, thin and keeps you warm for running in and out of the car/house. If you're moving around outdoors, the insulation serves it's purpose of keeping you warm. I purchased a small in the purple dahlia color coat and get many compliments. I love the thumb holes, as well.
My only recommendation is that the sleeve (w the thumb hole) be extended a little more. It pulls when I do use the thumb hole...often times making it uncomfortable.

Unfortunately the coat is too small. I normally wear a medium but for this coat would need a large.

The coat is cute and the non-horizontal lines and the compressed functional fabric means you don't look like the Michelin Man. However, the coat is super form fitting and I wish I'd ordered a size L. I am 5'9" and normally wear an 8-10, but the coat rides up a bit when you are active. I'm considering exchanging it for a L, but I don't like paying for shipping three times and would be very disappointed if the L were too big.

I was very surprised at how warm this coat was. I like the color. It was what I expected. I live in a state where it gets very cold. With just a warm sweater underneath this coat, you stay really warm, even though the coat is very light weight. I also love how the hood when zipped all the way covers you mouth. Would definitely buy this coat again in the next size up.

Love how lite this jacket is. Not bulky, easy to bring along. Very warm.
A few cons
- no string to adjust hood to keep on head when windy.
- a little effort needed to zip it up

I was looking for a warm, lightweight coat to wear while outdoors. The coat runs small and is great for all practical purposes. I ordered a Large and at 5'2", 120 lbs. I would have ordered a Medium, but it was tight in the hips. The large fits fine, except is long in the sleeves, so I have to roll back the cuffs. Also, the pockets hang a bit too low to be comfortable, but that is ok, because of the value and quality. I do wish Columbia would rework the design to correct the pattern and make this coat again next year. The cut is flattering and the color RED is awesome!

I bought this coat to be my winter coat because I had/lost an omni-heat fall jacket and loved it. The coat feels very thin, but it is made extremley well. The thumb holes fit my hands perfectly, and I really like that detail.
The coat itself isn't as warm as I was hoping it would be though. I live in Iowa and it gets very windy and cold. This coat works well for commuting, but I would not wear this coat if I needed to be outside for a long period of time. I am very sensitive to temperature though. I usually wear a size medium, but I got a size large because reviews said it ran small. The large is fitted on me, but I can also wear a sweatshirt underneath it.

I am 5'4'' 130lbs and pretty wide on the bottom. I like my jackets more fitted since I live in a climate with more cold days than FREEZING cold days that require layers, so I ordered this jacket in a XS. It fit perfectly except it was way too tight across my hips and rear. If I had sized up to a S it would have been perfect in the hips, but too big across the shoulders and the arms would have been way too long. Too bad because it was really a nice light-weight coat and the Mineshaft is a nice green/grey that is a good departure from my usual black, grey, white wardrobe.

Typically I'm a small (5"6 and 120lbs# but I ordered medium to wear layers beneath. My shoulders are pretty broad, but this coat had the shoulders seams drooping way too much. However, when zipped up all the way, it was really tight at my hips #and I don't really have big hips). Just isn't cut out for my size I guess. Purple is pretty close to pictured. Going to return.

Perfect coat for running around in the cold weather ,not very bulky but warm. Cold wind does not come through and keeps you warm. Sleeves are a bit long but otherwise a good fit adn true to size.

I purchased this coat in the late summer of 2016 so I'm just getting the opportunity to wear it now in late October. It is surprisingly light; so light that you think it may be "too" thin. Don't be fooled by the weight; the inner lining makes you feel like you have a blanket on under your coat. I have not had a chance to try the coat out in ultra-cold temperatures, but I am very impressed so far. I ordered one size up from my normal coat size and it fit perfectly.
The one (small) drawback for me was the hood. It is a bit over-sized and there is no drawstring to keep it closed. I kept having to use my left hand to clasp the top of the zipper so the wind would not blow the hood off. (I decided to sew in a snap on either side of the zipper to keep the hood in place.)
The large hood probably will not be a dealbreaker for most, because there are so many other little great details in this coat (extra inner pockets, handwarmers in the sleeves) that a drawstring hood on a future version would make this coat perfect.
I highly recommend this coat and I'm looking forward to wearing it this Chicago winter.

This coat is comfy in 35/ 45 degree weather. The fit is perfect. I really like how it looks on, a little disappointed that I'll need to get an additional coat to get through the bitter cold parts of Vermont winter.

Was surprised as to how light this coat was! I am 5'6-5'7 and weigh around 130lbs. The medium fits me super well in length and isn't too big and baggy around my waist! Have not gotten a chance to wear it out in the cold yet but am very optimistic about it handling the midwestern winters!

I found the price excellent w/ my purchase. Living in Maine, winters can be brutal & I found this coat to be very warm even on blustery days. I will admit as the others have (that's why I gave it four stars) I wish the hood had some type of Velcro or pull string to keep it from falling off your head. I'm anxious for summer but happy knowing I have this great coat for next winter too. I'm 5'8", 180 lbs & the large fits nicely.

A friend had this coat and loves it. This coat is very thin, but the technology keeps you warm in that your own body heat reflects against the Hi Tech liner to keep you warm. The light weight is great. SIZE: It runs SMALL. I wear a size 10 dress and had to get an X Large, and another size up may have been better. The design is made for a "stick figure" not a female with curves; another reason to go to larger size, othewise it will fit in the shoulder but you can't zip it around the hips. The sleeves are the correct width in the upper arm but tapers narrower towards the wrist, which I don't understand. Tight squeeze if you have on a shirt and a sweat shirt or sweater. I am 5'5" and the length goes to the top of my knees, which I wanted. I'm very happy with the coat and the blue looks even better than the web picture. The zipper can go up to your chin, and the zipper does not touch your skin. Pockets that zip on each side. CONS: stick figure sizing; hood does not have draw strings, sleeves are too narrow. Another pocket for a cell phone would be handy.

Love how light it is. Black is a dull black. Wish I'd gotten the gray.

Warm jacket considering heaviness of the coat (extremely light!). Color is also beautiful. Only issues are that I find the pockets to sit a bit low on the coat (somewhat awkward to put hands into), and the coat fits snuggly in the hip area. I find that many coat makers just can't work correctly with women's hips - plenty of room up top but not a lot on the bottom in these longer coats. Also wish the hood of the jacket had drawtsrings so that the opening could be pulled thighter when wearings.

I love the jacket however it was so small I had to return it. My sister-in-law had one on at Christmas and couldn't stop talking about how happy she was with it so that's what encouraged me to get one. I am disappointed with the sizing because I hate having to return things.
