This is a well made, super-cute boot. However, if you don't have slim calves, don't bother with them. They are not made for you. Very difficult to zipper and tucking in a pair of skinny pants are impossible. Skinny calves? Great. Highly recommended.

These boots were easy to put on and felt pretty good. I liked the color of the shaft, but the black touch on the toe felt artificial. The foot was a touch big, but the shaft fit was good. The zipper was tough to pull, something others have commented on.

These boots are beautiful but are no where near wide calf. I could not get them zipped all the way and will be sadly returning.

These boots are super cute and awesome looking and have very high quality leather. Unfortunately, they are also very uncomfortable. While they felt maybe 1/4 to 1/2 size too large in the heel they also were too tight across the top where your toes meet your arch on the top of your foot. This cut off circulation to my toes and made my arch start cramping - plus my heel was sliding around causing more pressure on this as well as rubbing against the rough zipper causing blisters, not only on my heel towards the bottom of my foot, but also about 2.5" inches above my heel on the back, thin part of my heel. These shoes, for a nearly $400 price tag, also have NO arch support and barely any cushion in the footpad. Lets just say, I sit ALL day at a desk job and by the end of the day my feet were aching pretty bad. Sadly, these will be returned. Its also good to note these were Made in Mexico, and the first pair I got in had 4 different defects, and the 2nd pair are as stated above; painful.

I love the look & feel of these boots once I get them on! I bought them to wear with skinny jeans tucked in - the problem is that the start of the zipper is VERY difficult to zip and does not work with anything tucked in. I gave 3 Stars because they look & fit well with a skirt & tights. Still might return them as I wanted to wear pants/leggings which don't fit in the boot!

I ignored the reviews and ordered these. One boot was difficult to get the zipper all the way down and the second boot I could not get the zipper back up at all. I tried for much longer than I'd like to admit because I really love the boots. They were comfortable enough on first try (with one of the zippers down) but I understand there is a break in period so I can't gauge comfort completely because I had to return them. Since I read so many reviews with the same complaint I thought perhaps I received a pair someone returned, but when I called Zappos they said it was a brand new pair. Yikes. Frye Company, this much for boots and the zippers don't function? Where is your quality assurance? It's not fair to Zappos or your retail-end consumer. As always Zappos service was impeccable. So rare, love that. Thank you Zappos!

I ordered this boot in the cognac color. The picture looks rich and beautiful with the color variation. In fact, I ordered 2 pair of Frye boots, both similar in color; the other suede. The other boot arrived in a Frye box; this boot arrived in an unmarked box and is extremely dark brown, the only color variation is from the antique or distressing by the manufacturer -- it is NOTHING like the pic. No resemblance at all. Not sure what happened here.

The boot is so cute, however as the other reviews state, it is narrow and smaller size. The zipper in the back rubs on the heel, making it uncomfortable. Also, the buckles on the boot jingle when you walk, which makes me feel like a cowboy. Very stylish and cute boot, however not for me.

Dang it! These boots are so cool, yet so uncomfortable. I'm not the type to wear uncomfortable shoes even if they look good but I may reconsider on these...

I had to try these boots because they were so cute on the site, but they are so very tight and uncomfortable. There is no justification for spending this much on a pair of boots that are not comfortable in the least bit. Very disappointed.

These look really cute, but they were so hard to get on. I had to undo all 3 buckles and unzip it, then rezip and resnap the buckles; that's just too much trouble for me every time I put them on and off. Once they were on they weren't that comfortable; the heel had a hard piece that dug into my foot and the toe box was too snug. Too bad.

I just got these boots in today and they are gorgeous. I couldn't wait to wear them, but that won't be happening. I ordered a size 10 because I normally wear a 9 or 9.5 regular width and the reviews said to size up. It took me a good 5 minutes of pulling and pushing to get my foot into the boot and then when I finally did, I couldn't get them zipped, I do have muscular calves but I don't usually have that much of a problem finding boots that fit. These felt very narrow and were actually painful after only a couple of minutes of wear. I normally love Fryes, and know that they do take some breaking in, but these were too tight to ever think they would be comfortable. I ordered the cognac antique and the color is even better than the pictures! I am going to try the Veronica Slouch Wide Calf next and hope those work out better.

I love the look of these boots. Since they are made by Frye, I expected wear-in time & was correct. They have become more comfortable with each wearing. I have wide feet, no arches & use orthotics. I have to leave out the orthotics (by the way, I ordered 1/2 size larger to accommodate them, so I suspect these run a bit small) & they pinch slightly on the big toe side, especially on the right (unusual for me, as my left foot is larger). An issue I have is that the snap-straps don't stay closed. They often open when I'm walking. It seems that a smaller, tighter snap should have been used.

Sadly sending back. Ordered a sz 8 first time & sent back for larger 8.5. I normally wear an 8 in boots. Found even the larger size to be hard to zip and uncomfortable; especially snug in the toe bed. Felt my little toe was rubbing.

I just ordered these and am so sad that they didn't work for me. I normally wear a 10.5 or 11 and the 11 was too small. I couldn't zip them up and I found the snap closures too futsy for me anyway. I would get sick of having to always unsnap and zip and then resnap those flaps. They were also a lot higher than I anticipated. For some reason I thought they were only mid-calf but these are pretty much as tall as a riding boot. (Shoud've watched the video.) Cute, but not for me.

I always get size 37 for Frye's, but these were way too snug. Would recommend a larger size, but that might mean the heel is loose.

These look good but are terribly uncomfortable! The sole is too stiff, they rubbed against my heel, and were noisy when I walked (squeaky and a weird thumping sound of boot hitting leg.) A huge disappointment.

Great boot except the snaps come off making it defective.

The Veronica features the quality one expects from Frye; weathered leather, stacked heel, heavy duty zipper. I love the snap straps so much I don't mind sounding as if I am wearing riding spurs as I walk along. What I do mind is the discomfort. The right boot is narrower than the left. The toe boxes are quite stiff and unstretchable, and there is no cushioning or arch support (and no room for insoles). The Philip harness boots are much more comfortable. In addition, the snaps kept coming loose and the straps would flop around. For the price, I expected more. If only Frye could borrow the lasts that Merrell uses for their boots , and added some cushioning and arch support... I love the style, but the pain is a deal-breaker.

I have had these boots for a while and treated them like a collectors item, barely wearing them and polishing them constantly. Was very satisfied with them and finally decided I should fit them into my shoe rotation. I am still breaking them in. One of the zippers seems to like to rub against my heel and bring my sock down. The bottom snap on the other boot keeps coming undone. For nearly this cost for these boots, I would expect that they would not detach from the sole after 6 wears, so I am very disappointed that I wasted so much money. Makes me want to think twice about ordering this brand again.

I LOVE the style of these boots but I have gone through two pairs due to the infuriating 2 snaps at the heel. One would randomly snap off while I was walking which got real annoying. After having (my first pair) for 6 months, the rivet of one of the snaps popped off, leaving it permanently hanging. Then the other rivet (of the other snap) popped off. Zappos kindly sent another pair but alas after having the new boots for 2 months the rivets broke AGAIN. Such a shame considering everything else about the boot is fab.

I own the Veronica Shorts in a size 8 and have enough room in those to wear heavy socks. The Veronica back zips I also got in a size 8. They seemed much smaller. There is no way I could have worn thick socks. Would have needed an 8 1/2 for sure. Also not too happy with the space for my calf. I am not a large woman and I don't have large calves. I'm a runner and my calves are 14 inches, and while there is room to wear skinny jeans under these, I don't like that there isn't much room. The color and leather are beautiful as usual. Just expected that since these were also called Veronica that the style would have been closer to the same as my other Veronica boots. I sent these back. There was also a defect in the stitching along the inside of one of the boots that I noticed...because it kept getting stuck in the zipper. Since they are now made in Mexico, maybe they need to work on their quality control when selling a product for this much. I plan to purchase The Veronica Slouch instead of these. The customer service from Zappos is fantastic, as usual. I ordered these boots on a Wednesday morning and received them the next day in the evening. And returning is always easy.

I'm a 6.5 - 7.0 and I ordered a 7.5. I was SO excited, but there were a few problems - cognac is darker than it looks online. - with thin socks, my foot BARELY fits into the boot. - the calf is too snug to wear over jeans, which for me, is why I'd want a slouchier boot to begin with. It doesn't make sense. I was so desperate to love these, but they're going back.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
I've had an awakening and although these boots seemed stylish at first, I cannot believe myself or anyone else for that matter would pay nearly $400 to walk around wearing the dead skin of some poor, innocent animal who's life was taken just so we can wear a pair of boots. It's disgusting, disturbing and I will absolutely be getting rid of these, as I can no longer be a blind contributor to such unnecessary torture and violence.
