These are truly beautiful boots - the look, the smell, aah. The quality of the leather is unmatched by any other boot out there. I really wanted them to be perfect for me. After doing all the right research and comparison, I thought the Veronica back zip was the one. My size is 9.5, so I ordered at first the 9.5, then downsized to a 9. I had a problem with the heel both times. The 9.5 was comfortable in the foot area, but the heel kept slipping (surely to give blisters). The 9 was cutting off the circulation in my toes, and the heel was rubbing in the zipper. I probably could have broken them in, but I did not want to go through that agonizing process. Also, the zipper adds more weight to the shoe, at 1 lb 14 oz per shoe, it's a lot to lug around. I sent these back and got the Veronica's without the zip. Very happy with Zappos experience. Thank you!

I was so excited to get these boots. I absolutely love all the buckles and detail. When I got them I wore them around the house for about 3 days to break them in. I got a bad blister on the back of my left heel from rubbing on the zipper. I figured this would be fine in a few weeks when I broke them in a bit more. The first time I decided to wear them out of the house the snap at the top of the left boot broke off! I just happened to look down at it in the car and noticed it wasn't connected to the boot anymore. Sadly I had to turn around and go back home to change boots before going to work. I returned these and now I'm trying to decide which pair of Frye boots I'll try next.

These boots are awesome. Very comfortable. I had to return my first pair because one of the snaps broke. Zappos was amazing and sent me out a new pair immediately. So far the second pair I received has had no snap problems. I wore them walking all day and they were super comfortable.

I love my new boots! The zipper can get a little tricky depending on the pants that I wear but overall they are great. I first ordered my regular size but ended up getting 1 whole size smaller. Zappos is so nice to work with and the customer service is awesome.

Cool looking boot but my heel slid up and down as I walked. I think a half size smaller would be too small but my heel is swimming in this boot. Had to return.

Beautiful boots that literally go with everything. I've worn them with jeans, sweater dresses, nicer dresses and have been complemented every time. My only complaint is the cognac color scratches really easily, which I think is part of the "style" but its hard to see when you've spent so much on them!

I absolutely love these boots. Normally I would not spend that much money on boots, but I heard that Frye boots last for years. They are very sturdy and the leather feels buttery but tough enough to withstand some wear. I wear a 6.5 or a 7 and purchased them in a 7. The footbed was ever so slightly snug which is good because I assume they'll stretch slightly. I was pleased with the shaft circumference, I'd read that they were pretty small but they were plenty big, I like a slight gap so that my legs look skinnier and not squashed in them (I have slightly athletic calves). The zip is beautiful and makes getting in and out of the boot so much easier. Dark brown antique has a very slight red tint and is very classic and timeless. However, the first time I put them on I unsnapped one of the lower straps that covers the zipper and the snap broke! I don't know if they were designed to be buckled, not snapped, but the snap seems so much easier...for how expensive they are they shouldn't break in the first 5 minutes. I sent them back but have already ordered a new pair.

Nice quality leather. Great boot overall. However, the snaps on the boot kept coming undone and would not stay fastened. After about the 9th time in a very short period of time of re-snapping them...I decided that they may have been defective and opted to order another pair. They just arrived so I hope it goes well.

Beautiful boot but too small for my wide (16.5") calves. I sized up 1/2 size and still much too tight. Sad because the boot is perfect!!

I normally wear an 8.5 in Fryes; ordered these ina 9.5 because that was the only option and I hoped they may fit...wasn't surprised to find they were too big. However, the style was less appealing to me in person than in the photos online. In black, the boots looked more like rain boots/galoshes than my other leather Fryes. They were also very stiff (not unusual for Fryes or other true leather boots but be prepared to spend some time breaking them in!).

Sadly, these did not work out. After reading many reviews, I decided to go with my normal shoe size. I sometimes wear a 6-1/2 so I ordered a 7 thinking that would be enough extra room. Not even close. I couldn't even get the boot on and zipped with a sock on. I managed to get them on and zipped with no sock on, but there is no way I could ever get a skinny jean tucked in and still zip them up. Instead of sizing up, I just returned. I don't think a bigger size would accommodate my calf size. These were really cute. But they are not for wide calves and the toe box is a little on the narrow side.

These are really nice boots! However they run oh so small! I admit I do have a wider foot BUT when I compare my foot to the bottom of the boot there is SO much space. My toes are not jammed at the top but they were squeezed from the sides. Maybe they are just too narrow because I don't think a larger size would change my toes being squeezed up together. Also they are super stiff so it's hard to get them zipped over my heel area but again that could be cause of the width of the boot. I guess I expected them to be more buttery leather and not rawhide leather, they also weren't as distressed/vintage looking as I expected. I expected them to be more like my Born's which are very distressed and wearing them is like walking on clouds. LOL It's unfortunate because these were a great price and as much as I love the pricier ones (the Melissa boots), I'm just not able to spend that much on boots right now. Will be returning these.

Apologies to the future owner of these boots for my tears being all over them: they are too small for my popeye-like calves. (thanks, Dad.) If you are wondering if these will fit, Frye sent me this on the shaft sizing: "All of the measurements listed on the website are base on a size 6, the shaft circumference increases a 1/25" per every half size number increase." My calf measures about 17" at the widest point, and there was about a 1" gap to close the zipper. Frye also advised that a cobbler wouldn't be able to stretch the boots that much. These boots are stunning in person, and below the calf muscle they fit like a dream. Genuinely gutted to be returning these!

Leather was beautiful. Loved the style. Zipper was hard to move up and down, especially near the heal. Back of boot just above heal rubbed with every step, which is main reason for the return. Ran slightly small for me, especially in the toe box. Not comfortable enough to justify the cost.

First off, these are gorgeous boots...well made and beautiful leather (I got the black). However, as much as I like the zipper going up the back, it is exposed on the inside at the heel. It's covered up top, not sure why that coverage stopped at the heel. And because it's not covered, it rubs on your socks and/or foot. The zipper is also very difficult to get up & down. I started researching how to make a zipper slide more easily, then said, wait a minute. At this price point, these should not be issues! So back they went :(

I should have listened to the previous reviewers that said these are beautiful but the fit is way off. The length was ok, if not a little short but the width is completely off. If you have super skinny feet then try these because they are gorgeous.

I don't understand how anyone can say these are super comfy. I wear a 7.5 or 8 and went for 8 based on reviews but actually think maybe I need an 8.5. I LOVE the way they look but for starters, I took them out of box and used all my strength and struggled so much just to unzip the boot so I could try them on! There zipper felt so cheap bc it wouldn't move! Maybe I got a reject pair?! Then when j finally got it open all the way, I could barely squeeze my foot in. This has never happened to me before. It was so stiff and the heel is so narrow. I didn't even bother to try zipping it up bc the foot part was so tight and uncomfortable. I like the look so much that I am going to send back and try the 8.5 and hoping the zipper issue was a fluke. I really want these to work! The cognac color and worn out look is just what I am looking for.

Beautiful, stylish boots but need to return - the zipper bends/creases in such a way that it rubs the back of my ankle/above the heel, which is now terribly blistered. So sad. Thought I'd found the perfect boot.

I ordered the Frye Veronica in Cognac, very disappointed that the color of the boot is nothing like the color represented on Zappos. The fit was good (maybe a bit on the small side) and they were beautiful boots, the color just wasn't there.

I've tried so many Frye boots I lost count. They are either too big or too small and I rarely have trouble fitting into either a 7 or 7.5. All styles had narrow toe boxes. This boot has an incredibly stiff zipper that's difficult to operate. For this price, you would think it would be perfect. I gave it a 3 overall because the cognac color is gorgeous. So long Frye!

I should have realized the minute that I read a review calling these boots "real equestrian riding boots" that they would be miserably uncomfortable. I taught riding for many years, and the first thing that an equestrian buys with frugally saved pennies is CUSTOM riding boots. And, those May be fine in which to ride, but don't think of them as great walking boots. However,due to the gorgeous styling on these boots (which, BTW, makes them inappropriate for serious riding attire),it did not occur to me that Frye, of all companies,would make a walking around boot using a riding boot last. I am returning them,sadly. They ARE gorgeously styled,but (like off the shelf riding boots) miserably uncomfortable. Three stars for beauty,minus two for knowing better about the discomfort of "real riding boots".

I love these, but ended up having to take them to a Cobbler and have the ankle straps removed. They would come unsnapped within a few walking steps! They are comfy and cute, but I hate that I had to take of the straps. They look a little bare now.
