I love this product except for one thing and that is the fact that it is extremely difficult to take apart to clean or to store.

The first time I used it, it worked beautifully and was so much tougher than my regular blender - pureed quickly and easily. However, the next couple uses I fought with the blender to stay together while using it. The section where the blades twist off for cleaning come loose while in use.

I purchased this a year and a half ago and now the motor is dead. I used the hand blender, on average, once a month in the fall winter months to blend soups and that's it. Now it's dead.

Stay away from it !
Bought KHB1231 GA , used it only about 5 times.
Low on power , overheating all the time , after several uses head developped a crack, on the following time we have tried to used the whole head came apart.
I have read the reviews of many other people developing exact same problem.
Blender was purposely made cheap with good looks.
If you start using it daily -it will not last a month.
Hopefully you will reqd this message

The power button is difficult to activate and keep on and the top portion separates from the bottom while using it This will probably eventually strip the gear. If this is typical of all KitchenAid models I will buy a different brand next time.

I bought this model earlier today. I unboxed it, and noticed that the bell housing is a chrome plated plastic. My heart sank as soon as noticed it. All of their previous models were made of steel. I've owned several of their hand blenders over the years. Currently own one of their Stand up mixers which is amazing. I will not be purchasing another one of their products if this is the current direction of this company. 0 stars.

I received this as a gift so I cannot return it but the edge of the blending arm is very sharp and easily scratches the nonstick surface of the pot or pan when the unit pulls downward on blending. The picture on the box and in the manual shows a pan guard and lists it as a feature that is included but was not. I called KitchenAid and was told it was a misprint and that there was no pan guard for this model.

Received this as a Christmas gift and was sorely disappointed to find no pan guard. BOTH the box AND instructions reference the pan guard but it does not exist. WORTHLESS tool for the kitchen unless you want to destroy your pots and pans.
If KitchenAid can't rectify this, then this family will no longer be dedicated KitchenAid buyers.

There are 3 issues I have with this blender. 1)You have to press and hold the power button to make it work. 2)The blend stick does not lock into place, so can rotate off during use. 3)The pan guard that is shown in the user manual as being included was not in the box.

I bought this hand blender specifically because I wanted to protect my Calphalon pans from scratching. The manuals stated it had a pan protector, it does not. KA said is was an error in the manual and that the blender was designed not to scratch, so I used it. Yup, it scratched the heck out of my hard anodized pans. Now I have a very expensive scratched pan. I returned the hand blender to the point of purchase. I am NOT happy.

I'm very disappointed in this purchase. I bought it for one simple task... to blend homemade mayo... and it can't even handle that. Every time I turn it on, the blending arm falls off the handle. I have to sit, squeeze the blending cup between my thighs and then hold the blending arm with one hand and the button on the handle with the other. This is not the quality I expect from the Kitchen Aid brand.

Returned item since it was overly heavy and virtually impossible to separate body from beater.

Verified Purchase
This was the first hand held blender that I've purchased. Unfortunately, the detachable portion kept detaching while I blended food. I was torn on sending it back since it was such a great deal, and wanted to give the kitchen-aid product a second, third, fourth chance since we have so many items of the same brand. However, each time I blended, the arm popped right off. I will be returning this.
