We've had this since Christmas, and used it several times to make soups. it's definitely a step up from tipping the whole contents of the pot, a bit at a time, into the blender. Cleaning is a little complicated if you don't have some sort of brush with long bristles, perhaps in combination with a toothbrush. Of course, in many cases, depending on what you've blended, you can just rinse it off right away afterward and no problem. If there's any grease, however, you need brushes to get in behind the blade. The other slightly annoying thing but this has nothing to do with the product itself is that KitchenAid's website allows you to sign up for an online account and register the item right away, but then when you check your account, the registered product does not show up as registered for several days. I didn't find any indication on the website that I should expect a delay, so I ended up mailing in the paper product registration form as well. So kind of a waste of a stamp and some extra effort.

I replaced my Cuisinart. It had a larger cup over the bland so it drew in more ingredients to blend Like the container with the sealable lid like the 2 speed options(reduces splashing)

It's very easy to use and doesn't take much room to store it. This is my first immersion blender, so I can't compare it with any others.

I've used this immersion blender to make whole30 mayo and ranch dressing several times and to make baba ganoush (an eggplant version of hummus). It's been excellent for what I need it for. It doesn't replace a traditional blender, but it serves the purpose of blending at a speed and concentration that traditional blenders would not be able to easily accomplish. I like how the bottom metal half can easily be detached for cleaning, however the blades themselves are not removable and I find I have a hard time cleaning out the food that's on top of the blade. I have to use a brush cleaner and the spray attachment to rinse off food from the top of the blade. I highly recommend never leaving your blade attachment to sit and dry because you will have an extremely difficult time getting it clean.

I have two gripes. One: The cord is so stiff that I am constantly trying to unravel it and make it straight so it is not a burden. It curls up and doesn't flex at all. I don't even wrap it around the motor housing. Two: There is no plastic guard attachment for the blending arm. You therefore can't use it on enameled or nonstick cookware. Other than that, it works well so far. I think the button is a little cumbersome. Unlike some models, it doesn't whip any unwanted air into my foods. Which is good.

I bought this three months ago and I love how quiet it is and that it has different speeds. It works very well.

We registered for this as a wedding gift after taking a soup cooking class last fall. The immersion blender has a lot of power and easiely cuts through veggies. It does not scratch the bottom of pots/pans and eliminates the cleanup you'd have with a chopper. If I had known there were multiple attachments with other models, I perhaps would've gotten one with a chopper attachment. The blender is heavy, but that's necessary to balance it during blending. That being said I haven't used the plastic cup to blend beacause I feel it is not heavy enough (good for measuring out ingredients however).I also find it hard to not splatter by keeping it fully emerged in a bowl vs. a flat bottomed pot, when making say fresh salsa. Very easy cleanup and nice grip to it.

The first one that I purchased had a slight defect. Kitchen Aid replaced it without question. I use this for everything - soup, dressings, smoothies, malts!

I like this as it's small and easy to clean. I just wish it had a little more power for harder, slightly more frozen foods. It's nice for smaller quantities and softer foods, however.

Nice not to have to drag out the blender to do the job that this hand blender will do. Easy to clean. Easy to store.

Bought this blender at the recommendation of my daughter. She likes hers and the thought of not using my large KitchenAid mixer sounded good. This hand blender is perfect for home made creams, sauces, condiments, etc. We use it for almost EVERYTHING.

I bought this hand blender two weeks ago, and have been pleasantly surprised by how much I've liked it. I had another brand previously that died on me, so when I went to buy a new one, I was a little unsure which product to get. The store where I bought the blender had the same model I owned before (which is less expensive) but since I hadn't been happy with how quickly it died, I decided to spend a few dollars more and buy the Kitchen Aid this time. As soon as I took this blender out of the box and tried it, I knew immediately I had made the right decision. The quality was apparently from the get go - from how well the pieces fit and locked together, to how quickly and smoothly it operated. I'm glad I had the option to buy the Kitchen Aid as it was clearly the right choice.

I bought my hand blender a couple months ago to make quick smoothies with. It is very powerful and really blends the ingredients well. It also cleans very easily. However, when blending my smoothies, I find it hard to hold the blender and the cup at the same time, I've come close to dumping my smoothie a few times. It works very well, just wish it was easier to hold and use.

I've had my hand blender for about a month and have been using it for smoothies, veggie smoothies and to blend simple soups like sweet potato soup with mushrooms and bean soups. Works like a charm. I had both a blender and a very old handheld that needed to be replace. I decided to replace the handheld (and ditch the very old blender) since I really only blend soups, salad dressings and smoothies. So much easier to blend & clean up than a full size blender.

I'm pleased with this product. It does what I wanted it to do . Puree soups and diced tomatoes. Much easy than using a blender.

I love KitchenAid products and still stand by their outstanding durability. I've had my stand mixer for years... I recently found this hand blender I needed to hide the onions in a sauce for my grand son. I quickly looked over the instructions and contents list and noticed There was no pot protector included. I even checked the box twice. This is the 2nd kitchenaid appliance where all of the advertised extras were missing in the packaging ..first a white rubber scraper that was a bonus when I got my mixer for Christmas. No the pot protector. Someone needs to look at packaging with new eyes.....you are too great of a company to be undermined by packaging mistake.

The hand blender is OK. The blade end is a bit large and won't fit in a mason jar.

This product is extremely basic for the price. I figured two speeds would suffice, but I find I miss an intermediate speed as I gradually blend in ingredients. But I really miss the rubberized protectors on the blade housing that allows me to use the blender on soups or sauces in a coated pan. It was illustrated on the packaging, but a phone call to warranty told me that it was no longer included. They just neglected to tell the buyer! I bought this to replace one that I broke by overly aggressive blending of dense mixture. I have had 2 different brands, and I always found them to be extremely helpful.

If the silicone guard had come with it as advertised on the box I'd have given it five stars. We own many Kitchenaid appliances. My Grandmother's mixer is now 97 years old and going strong. Great stuff!

It is powerful and the attachment are good for their tasks. Unfortunately, the portion that locks the attachment to the motor body is made of brittle plastic which easily cracks or breaks, this making it non-functional. To add insult to injury, they do not sell replacement parts, this forcing you to buy a completely new unit.

I am sure I will like it when I can use it. I have been unsuccessfully trying to purchase a replacement pan guard to be able to use this when making soup. The Kitchen Aid website is difficult to navigate and even when I put "pan guard" into the search function, it does not bring me to the item. Instead, I have to scroll through many other items, and truthfully, it is frustrating. So maybe this isn't a review of the product, but if the website.
