I also wear the WW927, without problem. But this new model, the WW928, has a different design for the topmost lace eyelets piece. It is very stiff and digs into my inside ankle bone in my normal size of 6.5EE. The 7EE does not dig in, but they felt overly roomy. Toe box is plenty wide. Accommodates orthotics. This one will be returned due to this uncomfortable, and poorly designed part of the shoe.

I love New Balance shoes but had to send these back with regrets. For some reason they were way to narrow and killed my feet. I bought them to soothe and help heal my bone spur, but the narrowness irritated my bunions. I might order another pair in a wider width, we shall see. Thank you, Zappos, once again for the best customer service and return policy on Earth.

I am sorry to say I had to return this item. I ordered a 10.5 wide, it fit everywhere but was too wide in the heel, even had thick socks on. I am finding all the NB fit my feet the same, great in the toe box, too wide in the heel.

These sneakers are only fair. Compared to the NB926 & NB927 they are made with cheaper leather and their soles are not as cushioned. The heel area is larger than I would like it to be. In truth I prefer the fit of the NB926 to both the NB927 and NB928. The NB927 and NB928 are not as wide in the forefoot as the NB926's were.

These shoes are not a good replacement for the 927's, so if that is what you are looking for try something else. They are tighter in the toe box and the seams under the eyelets actually dug into the top of my foot so much I had two areas that bled. Add that to the fact they they are still an ugly shoe. I won't be buying another NB shoe unless they bring back the 927's.

Seemed comfortable and true to size, but toe box was too tall for me, as my feet tend to be narrow. Surprised and disappointed that they were not made in America.

I have always worn NB, however, this is the third pair that does not fit. The ankle is to loose.

I really wish I had ordered the 928v2 because there is really nothing similar between the two versions. The 928 is definitely lacking the cushion, comfort, and support of the v2. The 928 also seems to have a narrower toebox, even in the wide width sizes. I hope that adding a good innersole will make the 928 wearable for short periods of time, but for all day comfort, I'll be going back to the 928v2.

These shoes hurt my feet. They are too shallow in the toes and too narrow. What I wanted to order was another New Balance Optimal Contour.

I ordered these thinking they would be good for my plantar fasciitis, but just wearing them in the house they seemed to make it worse. Unfortunately I am sending them back.

I got these shoes about a week ago. After wearing them for only a few minutes each time, I noticed pain in the heel/Achilles heel area on my right foot, which would best be described as a pulling sensation. Too much money invested to keep something I am not happy with or comfortable wearing, so these are going back too.

I realized after wearing these for a short while that there is no flexibility in the shoe. I suppose the Rollbar technology prohibits this. I don't see how walking in these can be pleasurable! As for arch support: the only arch support in this shoe will be the one you give it when you replace the worthless insole that it comes with.

I've worn New Balance 927's for years and love their fit, comfort, and support. I almost didn't order the 928's because of poor reviews. I am still undecided. I ordered my usual size, but the new model seems to be shorter and have a narrower toe box. I will try ordering a men's size rather than a women's and hope that the fit will be more like the women's 927. I am disappointed, but grateful that Zappos lets me return them for free.

This is an addendum to a review I previously posted for this shoe. Unfortunately, the New Balance shoes that I received turned out defective. The shoe was separating from the sole at the heel. As I walked I noticed my heel slipping forward, almost rocking in and out of the shoe. The shoe felt too "squishy". I took the shoes off and noticed that there was a gap in between the leather of the back of shoe at the heel and the large rocker sole that the leather shoe portion was glued into. The shoe had given away from the sole. I did not have these shoes very long, either. Zappos.com excellent customer service staff tried to send two replacements but both shoes were very poorly constructed. There was very sloppy finish work done to the shoes, i.e, big globs of clear glue left at the seams as well as uneven stitch work and leather panels that were crooked and creased. Something has happened over the years to New Balance. Their shoes used to be quality and worthy of the expense. Not any more. I retract my earlier review and will not purchase their shoes again.

I loved the 927...I don't know why companies feel they have to "improve". The 928 is not an improvement! Worst shoe I've gotten from New Balance. Bring back the 927, and make it in the USA!

Back they go - really narrow toe-box, while the heel slips badly. I don't know what model I had before, which was fine - but will keep trying. Felt a bit short also.

I have worn New Balance 928 for years and have really liked them. I wear orthotics in my shoes and these have been the best fit for me. Now in your infinite wisdom you have decided to improve the shoe. They are not the same fit across the instep. They are tight at the bottom and spread out across the instep. You are putting mesh in places that there used to be leather. The laces are not long enough so that I can use all the eyelets. I am so disappointed. I have tried another style in New Balance but they are not the quality that the 928 was. Why couldn't you just make another style and leave the 928's alone? I am sure you have heard many complaints about this. I know you rely on your feed back but how many customers are dissatisfied and just go to another brand. You won't find that out until you survey how many repeat sales you have. I have always liked New Balance shoes but it gets pretty expensive trying to find another style that works. I have to replace my shoes at least every 4 months so I rely on a style I can use.

I have worn New Balance 928s steadily for over 20 years. I am on my feet a lot teaching, etc. Unfortunately, New Balance decided to improve them. Making them pointier, smaller/tighter on the top and eliminating the roll bar. Sadly, they do not work for me.

Do not be fooled. These shoes are not the original 928s. I received them, and on the back of the shoes it is clearly printed "928V2." I have been wearing the 928 original and wanted to get a new, cleaner one. I knew that the 928 was discontinued, but these appeared on Zappos. The only color offered was white 2. The representative did not know what the 2 meant. It is white mesh, but it is a 928V2. These are the most uncomfortable shoes ever. They feel like the least expensive sneakers off of the Walmart rack. Wow! New Balance has gone down hill with their quality - High price, extremely poor quality.

I can't believe the extreme DECREASE in the quality, sizing & fit of the 928 compared to my previous 925 & 926. Toe box is much smaller & no longer accommodates my orthotics. They are cheaply made in Vietnam & leather looks & feels fake. The difference between the tumbled leather in my previous shoes & the fakeness of these is absolutely obvious. The shoelaces aren't even long enough to go through 2nd top hole so shoe slides up & down. Also, the area around ankle is much higher & rubs inside of ankle. Now I have to buy new laces. The shoes are not only a lot more expensive, but I can hardly walk about mid-day. The width has also been narrowed & now they rub my big toes & baby toes creating hurtful calluses, even though I bought same C width as previously. Will NEVER buy New Balance again! Am more than disappointed & unhappy with these. NB has lost my business forever! I really give this product 0 (zero) stars all around.

The shoes I received were used. The box had a coffee stain on it. The bottom of the shoes had dirt and grit on them. The shoes had a couple of scuff marks and the worst thing was the insoles were obviously worn! Black insoles with obvious white footprints on them. Total lack of quality control. Really surprising. I do not want an exchange because now I really wonder if anything Zappos sends out is new or used and previously worn. When you order and pay this much for new shoes that is what you expect to receive, not dirty used shoes. Extremely disappointed with total lack of QC.

I have worn the New Balance 928 for several years and find them a very good walking shoe to a roomy toe box and good arch support. BUT - I have tried twice now to order a black pair of 928's and Zappos keeps sending the wrong shoe (they send the 812, which is very inferior). I can't understand why this keeps happening. Someone is NOT paying attention; so now I have again return the incorrect shoes and get a refund. What is wrong Zappos, are you hiring people in Louisville who can't read? If your out-of-stock, just say so. Don't send a cheaper shoe and expect me to be satisfied You have one chance to get the Order right, screw it up this third time and I take my business somewhere else!
I'd also recommend:
If you order from Zappos, make sure receive what you ordered.

One of my shoes has a manufacturing defect where an overlap of stitched materials rub and cause a blister on the side of my foot. This condition was not discoverable until I had walked several miles. Now I own a shoe that I cannot return and cannot wear. Not a good purchase.

Don't like them at all and am returning them as well as the black pair I bought at the same. They just don't fit like the old 927, which I wore for years.

I have worn the SL-2 last in New Balance shoes for years. Sad to say, they have badly compromised their quality for the almighty dollar. Shoes are now shorter and narrower than ever as well as lacking the padding that once set them apart. Zappos Company has certainly kept its integrity through the years, but not New Balance. Having worn the shoes once, I cannot return. I am out the money, and New Balance has lost a customer.
