This shoe is supportive and true to size and width. One of only a few shoes that come in an 11 1/2 W that fit me well. The laces are a little thin, not as thick as 993's that I had in the past. I would order these again.

This is my first "expensive" pair of sneakers and I only wish i bought them years ago! I am in my early 40s but have always had foot problems. I have had 2 ops on my toe for Hallux Rigidus and need a nice wide footbed and toe area. So far, these sneakers feel great (5 months post op) and I am not anxious to take them off for relief. I can walk hours in them.

I have many problems with my feet. They are very wide, and I have bunions, a neuroma, arthritis, low arches and yet a very tall foot. (Did I mention that I'm a Pisces? I think that explains it all.) This shoe is one of the few that I can wear comfortably, and I own two pair. Still, I wish there were some way to stabilize the tongue; it keeps shifting over to the side.

Great for walking and all around. I have flat feet and there is the best support for me. They are my 3rd pair. IT HAS TO BY STYLE W990. I made the mistake of another style but they are NOT the same.

Love them. Very comfortable and fit extremely well, especially for people with wide feet.

If you need a wide toe box, this is the pair of shoes for you. Good cushioning and good looks! Can't beat that.

I have terrible heel spurs and these shoes are the only ones that minimize my pain after I wear them all day! I tried the gel Asics and they didn't compare to the comfort of these. They look great with jeans. I love them and I'm supporting breast cancer awareness!

I have super high arches with my right one being higher than my left. I have plantar fascitis so I have to have an orthotic. I loved the cushion I felt like I got, but even with my orthotic, this shoe could not give the support where I really needed it most. It's not a bad shoe. It just cant be what I need it to be for my weird feet.

These shoes fit well right out of the box. No break in required for me. Orthotics for flat feet fit well. Shoe support is excellent.

These shoes are light and comfy. Just what I need for my 12 hour shifts at the hospital.

On Saturday I was in dire need of a pair of sneakers for a charity Walk on Sunday. Went to a local sporting goods store and happened to see a free-standing display with these shoes. They are the best! Perfect fit! No pain, blisters, etc usually associated with new 'not broken in' shoes. A special circumstance is that I have Parkinson's and my feet have this uncanny way of doing their own thing making it near impossible (and sometimes impossible)to walk or stand. The design of this shoe kept my feet so much better aligned that, even during a few challenging moments, I was able to start and stop with more ease than I'm used to. You would never know it is a 'specialty' shoe when you look at it. While I'm marking 'moderate' arch support, it was fine for me. I am so impressed I'm hoping they have similar structural design in casual shoes and slippers.

Great shoe! I have short wide feet and have difficulty finding shoes that fit. I also ruptured a tendon on the bottom of my foot and I am in a great deal of pain. I have been buying New Balance for years because they feel good but not very fashionable. I recently bought a pair of NB 990. I got a size 5 extra wide. My feet are so happy. I got them in black and they go great with jeans, sweats, and all casual wear. I love them!

Wonderful shoe...fits great and very comfy! Worth the investment!

Sturdy. Very well crafted. Great arch support, more than other shoes I have. The fact it is made in the U.S. is a plus, too, as not all New Balance shoes are. I find the U.S. made ones seem far better constructed than those made in China.

I was stuck out of town without my running shoes and these were the only ones in my sixe at the store. I was disappointed at first with the cost and the grey color, but quickly forgot what I was wearing because my feet were so comfortable. I ended up wearing my normal running shoe size of 8WW. I am grateful that New Balance contines to make good quality shoes for wide feet in the United States.

Zappos exceptional product offering and service keeps my shoe buying loyalty. The NB990 in a narrow width, works well with my custom orthotic for great arch support. The grey with contrasting darker strips and white sides look sharp. Good balance of mesh and suede. The only minor neg - the laces look downscale. Made in USA is a plus.

I have very wide feet with high arches and am finicky about comfort. These sneakers were perfect! I have worn New Balance for years and these have been my favorite. Very comfortable and true to size.

Sturdy and comfortable. The wide width model accommodates my bunion easily. Roomy toe box.

This is my second pair of the NB W990s. I also purchased a gray pair. Due to some foot issues and recent surgery on both feet, I needed shoes that offered good support and a wide toe box. These shoes are extremely comfortable and meet my needs. I wish they came in Navy blue! My only complaint is that they squeak. My first pair of gray shoes were returned because of that, but the second pair also squeaked. The black pair did not squeak initially, but have begun to do so. It's not too bad a squeak though, so I'm keeping the shoes.

These shoes were extremely comfortable from the first time I put them on. I have a LOT of trouble with my toes (arthritis) and I am diabetic. These shoes are roomy enough for my prescription orthotics and I began walking a mile a day in them without having to break them in. Zappos is a great place to order from, any time I've returned something or had to call for special service, everyone I've talked to at Zappos has been very polite and helpful. I will always deal with Zappos!

I wear these shoes 8-11 hours a day, on my feet all day, working in the operating room. They were (and are) comfortable , right out of the box, fit true to size, do not need to be broken in. I am very happy with them!
