Bought these shoes right after they came out because I had heard such great things about the Free Run 2. The new third generation is definitely a little more shoe like. It has an actual tongue instead of a collar and the midsole is a little beefier for a more cushioned ride but I prefer these over a more minimalist shoe since I'm a big guy who needs a little support but still wanted that barefoot feel. These definitely feel like no other. Super comfy straight out of the box, like all good shoes should. Feels like a cushioned sock. I have wide feet that never felt quite right in New Balance Minimus, Vibram Five Fingers, or Merrell Trail Glove but the Nike Free 3 hit my sweet spot. I wear a 12 in most shoes but these fit me perfect in a 13, plenty of room in the toe box for your feet to flex. Isn't that the point? If you're looking for a comfy, stylish, high performance shoe that will train your feet to be stronger and still be thirsty for more after all day on your feet on hard surfaces, these are your answer. I love them.

Just finished my first run with these. I cannot express how great they are! I have a 2 year old pair of the 1st gen that I thought was the most comfortable shoe yet, and this one with its dynamic fit feels as if they were molded for your feet. Get em. Just do it.

I purchased these shoes for walking because my New Balance walking shoes were getting old and although they provided support and comfort they were also somewhat heavy. The Nike Free Run was a great improvement. They are very lightweight and still provide comfort and support. They feel like you are walking barefoot. They are well worth the price and I would highly recommend them. They do tend to be smaller than marked, I normally wear a 10, so I ordered a 10.5 and they fit perfect. Excellent shoes for walking running or running.

This is the most comfortable running shoe ever. I like that I can wear it without socks and it's still airy enough that my feet don't sweat. The support is great and I'm ready to order my second pair. There's no online service that beats Zappos.

Ordered them at 11:20pm ET and got them the next day! That's why I purchase from Zappos! Best running/walking/hangout shoes I have ever owned. I have flat and wide feet, and when I walk or stand for long periods of time it gets really uncomfortable. I had been looking for something as I was moving to New York and knew walking would be an everyday thing. I am not disappointed! I love these shoes and I am thinking about buying them again just different color, for variety! I am normally a 12 but got a 13 since I knew they run a bit small.

Very comfortable and much more stable compared to real flex. Once you run with these shoes, you'll feel like you want to run more, even if you're exhausted already. Very comfortable.

If you liked the 2.0 frees, you'll hate these. The toebox is smaller and comfort sock is gone. Booo. Somebody at Nike should be fired for this. Seriously.

I owned the originals and Free Run + 2nd gen. Nike ruined everything that was good about the frees. I don't know what they were thinking. This show has a tongue and weighs more and I don't like the lace system. Way to ruin a good product.

These are probably the most comfortable shoes I have. I'm not a runner so my experience may be different from others. I use them at work and as a daily wear shoe. Essentially they feel like a slipper with a fair amount of cushioning and a moderate heel. On the sole at the bottom you see the 5.0 mark which have the highest heel of the Nike Free line. I did get these a full size larger than other previous Nike shoes. A half size larger would have probably been good enough but you definitely need a larger size than you've been wearing.

It seemed at first to be more solid on my feet than the 2s, which I didn't like but as I spent more time in the shoe, my feet and legs adapted as they should since Nike free were made to challenge and now it feels like the shoes do the running for me! I absolutely love them and I am excited to see the next pair!

Super light but plenty of sole for running on trails (and off!). Really enjoying this shoe and already have 50+miles on it. I am a female with a size 11 foot but tend to find women's running shoes to fit poorly. Nike 9.5s have consistently been a great fit with plenty of room in the toes and a narrow enough heel to support a great fit.

Love the shoes...was worried about the lack of cushioning in the heel area but I now believe that I have been brainwashed (like the rest of the runners in the world) that cushioning is everything. My shin splints and knee pain have disappeared within two weeks of running in these shoes and the flex and feel of the shoes is great.

I had the first gen Free Run+ for over a year and they have been great! Never really used them for running, just mainly for work. Loved the first gen I had and also love these. Very light and flexible, and extremely easy to slip on and off, yet it fits very secure. I just tie a hard double not and never touch the laces again. My feet are somewhat wide, and the mix portion fits kind of tight, but I'm sure like the first Free Runs I had, it will loosen up after some wear.

First of all, this is only the second real pair of running shoes that I have ever bought so I don't have extensive experience in this department, but I must say that this shoe is awesome. This is my first "minimalist" style shoe and it really feels like I have nothing on my feet when running. There is enough support that you can tell there is a shoe, but it really is a unique feeling (first couple of runs really works the muscles in your legs). The only downside, for me, is that the shoe is tight around the mid-foot area. I have very high arches though, so it is a common problem for me. I would give this shoe an 8/10. A definite buy if you are in the market for a new running shoe.

This is my fourth pair of Nike Free's. They have been excellent shoes for training for races ranging from 5Ks to Marathons. If this is your first pair of "minimal" shoes they will take some getting used to but I credit these shoes from keeping me relatively injury free throughout the 3 years that I have been running in Frees.

Awesome shoes. First thing you should know before purchasing these shoes is that they run about 1/2 small; I learned my lesson from the previous Nike Free Runs. I have a somewhat wide foot and they fit great. They are a huge improvement, IMO, from the previous free runs as these have actual laces and slip on and off easily. I've ran hundreds of miles in these shoes and they are by far the most comfortable running shows I have ever owned. I would strongly recommend NOT to use them while playing basketball, soccer, etc... though as your ankle can easily roll in these shoes.

Purchased for my husband as a gift. He LOVES these! This is a big step up for him from traditional sneakers. They look light years better on his feet. They are incredibly light weight and he really likes how his feet feel they can breath. He's outside a lot of the day and it's blasted HOT in SW Florida's sun. These cost more than other shoes but honestly I think they're worth it. He said they felt great on his feet (arch support). Got the wrong size but Zappos took them back & fixed in a flash (my error, not theirs). Favorite online store!

Loving these running sneakers so far. Comfortable fit and a secure/supported feel. If you're changing from a standard running or training shoe, you'll want to start slow with these - the muscles in your feet, ankles and lower legs will be getting a strain in different ways than you're used to. But after a few runs, you won't want to go back. Every run feels better in these. I've only pushed them to 8.5 miles so far, but my feet feel better than when I was running with some standard New Balance cross training sneakers. Don't hesitate on these. They live up to the hype.

Quick description: Extremely comfortable, very light. They fit a bit tighter than most shoes I've owned. The fit is almost like a sock. I have worn them walking around as well as running and they have been great for both.

This was my first pair of minimalist shoes, and I am hooked! I usually wear an Asics of some sort, but read lots of good things about the Free Run 3. I wore them a few weeks back for an annual 10k that I do, and I set a PR by over 8 minutes. Great shoes, and I may even buy another pair to rotate between shoes.

The shoe it self is wonderful. Good support and gives a soft run. I also want to say what a great experience it is to deal with Zappos and their employees.

I have been wearing Nike for years now, this and the lunar eclipse are the most comfortable shoes they have ever made. This shoe gives you the barefoot feel, and the very clean look. Plus Zappos has them delivered very fast.
