I love my regular Danskos, and these were on my wish list for over a year. Splurged on them for spring in the Sand color, which I love. Walked a lot around my neighborhood (40m walks with dogs) several times with no blister or rubbing issues. Wore them down to a festival in DC and I had 3 huge, painful holes worn into the tops of my feet from where the material rubbed the skin raw. Still have 3 Bandaids on a week later. Really disappointed, because I had worn the regular Danskos on a 7 mile walk through NYC and I was excited to be able to do the same in warmer/hot weather. I have read that a good shoe should not require "breaking in" and this is how I justify spending this much on semi-clompy (not super fashionable) shoes. Disappointed because I had planned on buying these in black, too (although I'd prefer a wood-color sole to the black sole).

I loved these and had high hopes for them! However, I had to send them back because both shoes squeaked loudly when I walked. I expect better from Dansko. This is the second pair of defective Danskos I've had to send back within the past year. As usual, Zappos Customer Service is THE BEST!

This is my third pair of "Sam" sandals and I'm especially happy with the red color. I have difficult feet to fit since they are wide and I also have bunions. I like the Sam style because they never cause sore spots and they do a great job of hiding my not so attractive feet. The medium width is plenty wide to accommodate the widest part of my foot. I wear an 8.5, so I always order a 39 and haven't had to return a pair yet.

I bought these shoes for 3 reasons (1) Dansko clogs work well for me because the toes turn up and I don't trip myself (have a leg that drags a bit). (2) These were similar in fit and feel to clogs, but better for summer (clogs seem so "winter-time wear" to me) These are dressier and less heavy looking than clogs. AND (3) I LOVE this color -- it's so hard to find this neutral taupe. I've not actually worn them (except as a test around the house) because spring has been late arriving. But soon I will be.

I love these shoes. They look so cute with just about everything and are unbelievably comfortable! These are my favorite shoes to wear these days!

This is a great shoe! I am typically a 10, but when it arrived I found it a little snug across the top of my foot. Exchanged easily for a 10.5 and now they are perfect. So comfortable. The red is a sweet pop of color with skirts and jeans. Yahoo!

I love these. They look great with a casual outfit or with something a little dressier. I wear them with jean and skirts/dresses. I also can walk in them comfortably all day long. I have a wider foot, so it took a bit to break them in, but now that I have done it I wear them all the time. I definitely want to get another pair in another color.

I hated to return these. They are really cute, but the two problems I encountered with them just made them not worth keeping. I ordered the tooled brown leather and the detailing was so pretty. Really nice quality. I have a lot of foot pain due to multiple problems...foot surgery, bunions, plantar fasciitis...yada yada yada. These shoes felt great on the soles of my feet, which is where most my pain is. That was huge and made me happy, BUT I wore them around the house for a few hours and the things that forced me to give them up were the following: 1.) The sides of the toe-box dug into my feet and were very painful. I don't have super wide feet and guess that a narrower foot would be fine here. It is totally possible that the leather would loosen up and stretch over time and I was almost willing to keep them, but... 2.) The toe-box does not breathe AT ALL. My feet were so hot in these and started to sweat...and that's just really uncomfortable. Just imagine the potential for stink nasty shoes. I'd rather avoid that.

I'm a manager in a very busy, multi-level restaurant. I wore these shoes all last Spring and Summer -- both the black and brown pair. Everything about this shoe is great and exactly the right balance of comfort and style. However, as another reviewer mentioned, they both made my feet stink horribly. The footbed gets kind of "gunky" and has to be cleaned periodically, which actually doesn't really help. It's disappointing and the only reason I won't be buying more pairs for this season.

Love! Cute style. The tooled/embossed leather is really pretty and adds a feminine touch. I was worried that they would be too clunky and they are so not that at all. They do not make a lot of noise due to the soft sole. The padding and arch support feels great! Thinking of getting another pair. Definitely true to size and width. There is one little thing that is important to mention. These may not be suitable for anyone with a wide foot as they will show "spillage."

I absolutely love these shoes. They have the legendary Dansko arch and comfort, but are a little lighter than my other Danskos. Unlike other reviewers, the shoes do not cut into the top of my foot, even though I tend to have a slightly wider foot than others and I've noticed no smell issues. I like how the upper is matte black instead of shiny like some of my Danskos. Highly recommend for a lighter summery shoe with great arch support.

These are a great everyday work shoe for me. I have them in black and brown. I prefer this style to the traditional clogs because it is more feminine. They are professional and give me a little bit of height with zero discomfort by the end of the day. For some people the arch may feel strange at first so you may need to break them in little by little. I'm a podiatrist so this is a great shoe to show as an example that you can have a little height with comfort!

I love this style, this is my fourth pairs in as many years because I wear them all day every day for months during warm weather. This color in particular is just beautiful, it is very much like a crimson red, not too bright or dark. Very classic red. Highly recommend and size is right on. I wear a 10 US and 40 European.

I love, love, love these shoes. Very true to size. Have them in all colors.

Dansko Sam vs. Dansko Trista. I ordered the Trista first (loved the floral cut outs) but, alas, they weren't wide enough in the toe box...one toe felt squished. (As a side note, I'm a size 10 and size 41 fits...a bit off from Zappos sizing.) Love the free return shipping with Zappos. The Sam shoes are extremely comfortable. I live out of a suitcase so generally I only want one pair of shoes (besides my running shoes). These are that pair...dressy enough yet comfortable to run errands, walk, wear all day. I got the sand color...love it! A nice neutral color to go with any outfit. The only downside is they need polishing quite frequently. I had an old style of this shoe before and loved them. Definitely worth trying.

These shoes are truly beautiful, inside and out. They were in perfect condition when I received them in the mail. The red is an aesthetically pleasing cherry red and the sole feels like walking on clouds. I never want to take these shoes off. One in every color, please!

It is unfortunate that the manufacturer chose the ankle strap closure that it did. It is too difficult to open and close. Perhaps they will consider a velcro strap in the future. The shoe is extremely comfortable. It is with sadness I have to return it.

Very nice shoe. I bought the next size up from what the chart said was my size and they fit perfect. The toe box is very roomy which is good for my because I have bunions. After wearing them a while they are stretching out a bit more which makes them even more comfortable. I'm thinking of buying another pair so I have them when I wear these out, which from the looks of it will be a while. But when you find a great fitting shoe you don't want to not be able to find it again when you need another pair.

I got these a few weeks ago, and now I'm just waiting for nice weather so I can wear them! They are SO comfortable I can't believe it, and CUTE!! I will wear these all spring/Sumer with rolled up jeans. Love them!! I am normally a size 8.5 M, but wear a 9 M in Dansko.

I bought the Black Floral Tooled in 35, and the Thea in Natural and Green in 36. I loved the Theas but sadly had to return them because the 36 didn't fit me (see my review). However I was really happy that the Sam worked out because I've been wearing mostly my Sally Danskos (I alternate mostly between black, brown, cordovan, and red). I've worn my black and brown Sally shoes almost on a daily basis for several years now so they were looking a little scuffed, and I would have replaced them but Sally model has been discontinued. The Sam feels just like the Sally, and looks almost like the Sally, except Sally has a closed heel, which I really would've preferred. I do love that Sam has a Sand color, but I've refrained from buying that color because it looks so plain. It would be so pretty if these were all Floral Tooled like the black and brown (which I might buy next). I wish they were close heeled so I could wear hose. I agree with previous reviewer that these shoes can make your feet hot at the toe box (was same with the Sally), so you'd want to have shoes to alternate with and let these air out. But they are super comfortable. I wore them today and had to run all across the hospital campus for various meetings, and never once did my feet cry out. I also own a couple of Naots, and with those, my feet are happy at first, but towards the middle of the day, the inside leather rubs against the top of my toes, and Naots are heavy, so my feet are very happy to get out of the Naots at the end of the day. I also like these heels because they are 2 inches, about 1/4 inch higher than the Sally heels - that doesn't sound like much but for a 5'0 person, every millimeter counts! I really love the newer dressier styles of Danskos (Becky, Roxy, etc) and wish I could wear them but they don't work because they start at 36.

Excellent shoes, very comfortable and ideal for the Fall and Spring seasons.

These shoes are just what I needed. I have severe arthritis in my big toe joints and I had no pain at all when wearing them.

Great shoe! I bought them back in 2011 I think they are stylish and comfy for someone who suffers from plantar fasciitis. Downfall, they make your feet stink something awful! And the summer time sweat and black it's a little gross, But nothing you cannot fix. Other than that is a great buy.

I have terrible feet -- wide, flat arches, prone to pain, a bunion -- and I have such a hard time finding shoes that are comfortable, supportive, and don't cause pain if I'm on my feet all day. I have 3 pair of Danskos now, including the red 'Sam' and I rotate them during the week, because they're the only shoes that don't leave me in pain at the end of the day. I get so many compliments on these, too! Since I've started wearing them regularly, several of my co-workers have started wearing their Danskos, too. We're starting a Dansko revolution! Only slightly negative comment: I should have ordered up a 1/2 size. Will do so next time, since I plan to order these in the neutral beige color on payday.
