I fell in love with Columbia shorts when I reluctantly bought a pair at a thrift store. I recently bought 2 more pairs and now have 10 pairs. One of the recent purchases was the Silver Ridge Cargo Shorts in olive and 38. Nice shorts. But I am glad that I still dieting for vacation. My other 38's require a belt. These do not as they are a much tighter fit. Order the next size up!

Fits well. Very light and breaths well however the pockets, although sturdy, feel flimsy and sometimes requires extra effort to zip. This said, they are perfect for camping, hiking, biking or basically any outdoor activity you may like while looking stylish and durable.

I have several pair of these shorts from prior years, in size 38 which recently seemed a little too big. Ordered these is size 36 and can wear them, but they are tight in the waist. Guess I need size 37 (not available). One change which would help would be for Columbia to add a strip around the waist to keep one's shirt tail in and to keep the shorts from slipping, as some other manufacturers do. Then perhaps the 38's would work better for me. I have switched to 36's in other brands and they are fine.

Nice lightweight shorts, made very similar to board shorts: fast drying nylon-like material and ventilated pockets. The material is ultra thin, so you feel almost naked. You basically have little to no protection from scrapes and rubs, so not great hiking shorts for tropical maintains in Hawaii but ideal for steamy weather at the beach, resort or mall. Pockets are made of ultra thin material so keys or a knife feel like they're digging into bare skin! So wear a fanny pack if trekking. Finally, these shorts run small so buy one size larger. I normally wear a 32" waist but 34 perfect perfectly.

Very nice material and it was quick to dry despite being practically drenched by a torrential downpour. The one issue is the fit, it can get very tight around the thighs when climbing uphill or moving the knees close to the chest as if the fabric is about to pop. Besides the fit it's a pair of good shorts. Recommend purchasing at least 2 size larger than your waist. (I. E. If you usually wear size 30 then purchase size 32 for comfortable fit)

Shipping was prompt. The shorts seem fairly well made. Not excellent, but pretty good. Fit is as advertised. Time will tell how they hold up as I use them for work. Nice for hot weather, dry quite fast.

I like these a lot. The only thing that would make them better would be to make all of the back and side pockets zippered.

Nice stylenot too baggyand keeps me cool and comfy during my tropical and Summer adventures. The feel is similar to nylon board shorts. Super thin fabric won't offer much protection if you scrape against a rock but they dry fast if you get caught in a downpour or fall in the drink. Columbia tosses in a thin nylon belt because they know most of us don't own super thin belts (pants loops are tiny). My main reservation is the fabric is on the delicate side and, whatever you do, don't let velcro from a camera bag or hip pack touch it. Otherwise expect abrasion and runs galore. Finally, these shorts run small. I normally wear a 32 inch waist but size 34 fits perfectly.

I love these shorts, they are nearly perfect for my work use. BUT ONE MAJOR FLAW. I have bought probably 12 pairs of them and the stitching on the pockets gives way in about 3-4 week of regular use. Slowly one of these pockets fails and I have to avoid it until I can get it stitched. Nearly a perfect product with a consistent, important flaw.

Other than the fact I think the fabric seems a little thin, they are well designed . We'll just have to see how the fabric wears over time.

I followed others recommendations and ordered a waist size smaller than normal. That worked but then they were too small through the hips and pretty much left nothing to the imagination.

I would love to see these offered with a mesh brief and internal webbing belt! A lightweight casual cargo short that could be used as a water short as well. Columbia used to offer a similar product years ago, and I had every color they offered. I am pleading and begging that it be produced again. This Silver Ridge is a perfect short, for travel or otherwise!

These pants are so light that you barely know you are wearing them. They dry within minutes. The belt is light and secure. Cargo pockets are large enough, but hip pockets could be deeper. No pinching or binding. Waistband very comfortable, and elastic a good touch.

I've had a similar pair of these Columbia shorts that have lasted 15-years. Unmistakable quality in their products. Your getting what you pay for and some. Comfort and feel 5-star.

Got to use this pair just a few days ago during an unseasonably warm spring 8-mile hike. They were light-weight, breathable and comfortable yet durable. Definitely a quality purchase. Sized a little snug for my preferred fit in the waist.

Size is smaller than regular. I am size 34 and I ordered a 36, and it is still a snugged fit. If you are between sizes, order 2 size up and use the clip belt that comes with the short to tighten it. Beside that, the fabric is light, cool, and the length is just above the knee. Short pockets are good size; the two sides pockets are meshed fabrics. Good for hiking and the material can dry quickly.

Great lightweight shorts in a nice longer length. Fabric seems like it would be very wicking and cool to wear on hot days. Only problem is they are a slimmer cut through the seat and legs so have to send them back. Wish they made this exact style in a relaxed, looser fitting option because they are great shorts, would pack well, and have lots of pockets options.

The material seemed excellent and the color was good too (a dark red color). But for whatever reason the fit did not work for me. Hard to describe why. I have bought other shorts from Columbia with the same waist measurement (30) and they were fine. These did not feel comfortable due to sizing/fit. Hard to be more specific - just wasn't right.
